About Margaret Burr

I was born and brought up on the Isle of Skye. Our family have spent many holidays on Skye and now as adults still love to visit.

Margaret Burr purchased this house in 2008

Why Margaret Burr chose Isle of Skye & Lochalsh

Achachork has always been a favourite part of Skye for us with its panoramic views and being within walking distance of Portree, the main village on Skye. When this site came up we decided to go ahead and build a house taking into account the wonderful views across Portree to the Cuillin Hills beyond. We are very lucky to have a lovely house built to our own specification with everything we need in a holiday home and wonderful views to enjoy from every window.

What makes this house unique

The views from the house towards the Cuillin Hills are spectacular and the house is warm, comfortable and has all the mod cons required for a relaxing stay. As a base the location is perfect for day trips throughout the island being so near Portree. There is nothing better than to sit on an evening with 'refreshments' and watch the setting sun turn it's magic on the landscape, no matter which season there is always something different to view.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Your house is fantastic and ranks as one of the best properties we've stayed in Scotland! Thanks for allowing us to have such an enjoyable and comfortable week in Skye, we will not be waiting another 16 years before visiting again.

A Smith, April 2011

Just a quick note to say how much we enjoyed our all too brief stay at Arus. You have a fabulous house in a wonderful location and it’s really well appointed. It makes a great base from which to tour and a welcoming home to come back to when you've finished the tourist bit.

Cheetham – April 2011

Your house is brilliant - we loved it. We go away every Easter and have stayed in lots of houses, but yours was certainly the most luxurious. It's so well equipped! Weather reasonable and we were able to see the magnificent views from your house. We did lots of exploring and two of our party went to Harris to do a mountain bike ride. Passmore - April 2009.

Great Location; Everything You Need; Superb Views

  • 5 of 5

We come back here every year. Why? Because it's great. Just a short drive out of Portree, and a couple of minutes further on and you get your first glimpse of the Old Man of Storr. The house is perfect, it has all the home comforts that help you make the most of your holiday time. Everything has been done to a really good standard and the cleaning service between lets ensures you can walk in, unpack, relax and take in the incredible views South to the Cuillins. Scotland's weather is what it is - so you need to prepare for anything. The house has a good TV (with DVD), handy for rainy days and nights in. There's wifi too. The broadband signal throughout Skye can come and go at times so don't rely completely on streaming services for your entertainment etc. That said, We can't wait to return again next year.

Lovely property in beautiful Syke!

  • 5 of 5

As a party of 5 adults the property was ideal for us. It has 3 bedrooms (sleeping 6) with 3 shower/bathrooms. The property is finished to a high standard and is very well maintained. It is modern, well equipped and has lovely open views.

It was an ideal base for us travelling by car, with the centre of Portree only a few minutes drive. Skye itself is a beautiful island and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

The owner was very helpful, pleasant and professional with all our correspondence. Would recommend highly this property!

Excellent Holiday Home

  • 5 of 5

'Arus' was an excellent holiday home with all mod cons and superb views. We particularly liked the upstairs reading area which was very peaceful. It was near enough to Portree for food shopping and also an ideal base for touring. We would fully recommend it and would love to go back again at some point.

Beautiful and Modern House

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for two nights at this lovely property and was very impressed with everything about the house. It had everything you needed from a dishwasher, DVD player, iron, wifi etc etc. It is a modern property and the decor is homely. We will defiantly return to this property in the New Year as there is so much more in Skye that we want to explore!
