The Old Smithy is a perfect choice for people looking for a holiday in the Highlands. It is very well insulated and double-glazed throughout. Underfloor heating, Wood burning stove. Electricity is from renewable sources. An attractive sedum green roof over the extension provides insulation and absorbs CO2. Reclaimed flooring, eco-paint finishes and light airy rooms provide a healthy living environment. All heating and electricity is included in the price. A wooden deck and veranda overlook the falls. Wooded garden and parking area. The cottage is well equipped with digital satellite TV, DVD player, hifi, and broadband access. 50% off mountain bike hire. Lots of walks and outdoor activities in the area. The owners who live nearby are outdoor enthusiasts and are happy to advise on and help organise routes and book activities.

It's really a so wonderful place here. We loved this cottage from the first second that we arrived. We will miss the beautiful view from the River Room and the sound of the river. we had a great time here and saw a lot - dolphins at the Moray Firth, the Glen Affric and the Great Glen Way was so beautiful.

Notes on accommodation: Children are welcome, however families should be aware that the Old Smithy lies adjacent to a fast-flowing river with vertical drops, which is unfenced, and outdoor play should be supervised. Please contact us prior to booking to discuss whether the cottage is suitable for your family. Cot and high chair provided on request, free of charge. Dogs are welcome by prior arrangement, must be well-behaved, and are not permitted in bedrooms. The property itself is no-smoking. However, there is an area of covered decking which smokers may enjoy in inclement weather! Outside: Deck with outdoor furniture. BBQ. Wooded garden and private parking area. Our New "Gold Standard"

The Old Smithy exceeded our expectations, which were high to begin with. The setting on the River Moriston is idyllic, with a view of the historic Telford bridge. The Old Smithy cottage itself is, simply, wonderful. Within view and sound of the river, it is very relaxing and quite comfortable. Frankly, we don't expect to ever stay in a nicer place ever again. It's our new "gold standard" for cottages.

Perfectly wonderful place!

The Old Smithy was the perfect home for four days! We absolutely loved sitting in the back room or on the porch reading, the whole place was relaxing. It's in a great central location, we took day trips to Glencoe, Dornoch, and Plodda Falls. It would have been easy to go farther and still make it back for dinner. We will definitely be back!

Beautiful, scenic, peaceful

The cottage is beautiful, the veranda has a wonderful of the river cascading over the rocks. The underfloor heating is lovely, and the whole place has such a homely feel. We already want to come back for our next holiday!

A truly fantastic property in a great location, a credit to the owners

We chose this property as we wanted a quiet county break but with all the creature comforts too and this property did not disappoint! On arrival we were little later than anticipated but Mike showed us round and gave us a run down of what we needed to know. It was very much as described if not better. The owners clearly take pride in maintaining the property it was immaculately clean and well stocked with, games, books, local (and further afield) information wi-fi and the lovely wine and biscuits. In the morning we were able to appreciate the truly stunning location of the property and take in the amazing view of the river literally on your doorstep.

We were only there for a short while and tried to make the most of our days out and about but coming back to the property on an evening was the best way to finish the day. The local hotel also provided great food and the local shop was perfect for any bits and pieces you might need.

We couldn't recommend this property highly enough and hope to visit it again in the future, it was well worth the 7hr drive.
