Why Sarah Chivers chose Cerro de Águia

We loved that the apartment was only 10 minutes walk from the beach and the town with it's great selection of restaurants and entertainment. The complex is very friendly with a lovely pool and from our terrace we have a fantastic view of Albufeira, it's beaches and out to sea. Nothing beats a chilled glass of rose on the terrace at the end of a day sunbathing and walking on the beach.

Smoking only on the terrace please. Outside: Windmill Hill is a low rise spacious complex, consisting of only 91 units. Set in beautiful landscaped gardens the swimming pool with children’s section is positioned alongside the restored windmill and overlooks Albufeira old town and the magnificent coastline. There are plenty of sunbeds and sunshades available around the pool. A snack bar is available during the summer months, there are 2 tennis courts and plenty of free parking for guests. The apartment has its own private large sunny terrace with BBQ, dining for 6 people - perfect for dining alfresco or just enjoying a glass of your favourite wine. Utility Room: Washing machine in master bathroom. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Maid service several times per week. Linen and towels provided. Guests will need to bring their own pool/beach towels. Other: Large terrace on upper level, reached by stairs from lounge area. Terrace has magnificent views of the pool, Albufeira Old Town and 180 degree sea views. Outdoor dining table and 6 chairs. Built in BBQ. Secluded place to relax.

excellent holiday

Where do I begin, this apartment offered a real homely feeling and has provided a great stay for our family. The apartment was spotlessly clean on our arrival and there was everything we needed to make our stay as comfortable as possible. The addition of a full kitchen and dining table was excellent for self catering.

The fresh soft towels, crisp white bedding and spacious setting ensured that we have felt spoilt throughout our stay. The complex was tidy and the pool was brilliant with plenty of sun beds to choose from, whatever time we went to the pool. The upper patio was great for afternoon bathing and provided a place to dry towels etc. There is a small shop and restaurant onsite which had the essentials for the aprartment and pool including lilo's, the restaurant food was lovely and fairly priced. Great cocktails and drinks menu. The complex is 8 minutes downhill into the old town area of Albuferia which presented amazing views from our accomdation and during the walk into town.

All contact with the owner was specific and timely which we welcomed.

We are already looking for return dates!!

Fantastic accommodation in a perfect location!

Situated in a lovely quiet complex yet within walking distance to the bustling oldtown area and beach we believe this accommodation was the perfect choice for our family. My girls, aged 12, 10 and 8 spent most days at the pool and never got tired of it. They even made some great friends! We were always able to get sun loungers although the large grassy area is ideal to lay towels down also. The kids enjoyed the independence of walking over to spend their money at the snack bar on ice-creams, milkshakes and crepes!! The apartment itself is in my opinion definitely the best located on the complex, pool view and beach view outstanding! Plenty of room inside to accommodate my family (3 adults and 3 children) Everything is clean, neat & tidy and very tastefully decorated which made for a comfortable and relaxing stay! The armchairs in the living area were particularly comfortable! We walked down into oldtown square every night and never found it a chore with the children (maybe in the midday heat it wasn't just as easy!) We are a fit and active family so it was no problem but maybe not suitable for someone with walking difficulties. We got a taxi back once when we had walked over to visit friends staying at the far side of oldtown and ended up staying later than expected which cost 6 euros. We had a great holiday, Sarah was great at answering my endless questions as an anxious parent! I will definitely be booking again! We stayed 11 nights which was perfect but are all missing it already now we have returned to typical Irish weather!!

Wonderful apartment but everything went wrong.

We thought the apartment was very nice on arrival. However we soon found the televisions had no reception. Took 2 days to sort this out. The air conditioning seemed to be working but really only blowing air not cooling it. It then stopped working altogether which resulted in a very uncomfortable night. Agent visited again and got it sorted, however it packed up again on our last night so only worked for 4 out of 7 nights. One of the 16 years olds then burnt herself on the towel rack in the second bathroom. This despite all controls being off was stuck at full heat, another visit to the agent with scared young lady in tow. Serviceman called later which was good as the oven was stuck on now and the work surface and controls were very hot. Everything working now until the AC stopped again, by now my wife was suspecting I was carrying on with the agent as I spent more time with her. I guess we were just unlucky as the place was well appointed and the complex very good.

The previous guest to you had not reported any problems, so we were not aware of any issues. We have had all appliances checked out and replaced a board on the AC and all are working well now. Thoroughly enjoyable

Stayed for a week in April 2016 and found the apartment to be spacious and well fitted out, with a lovely roof terrace - the pictures of the view on the site don't do it justice - it really is so nice just to sit there with a glass of wine and look right across such a lovely beach. The apartment was spotless and the beds nice and comfortable. It's just a short walk down into Albufeira which made things so much easier and there were a couple of great clifftop restaurants only a few minutes away. Outside the pool area is nice - the pool itself not surprisingly cold at the time of year but the kids still went in! Overall it's a great apartment to base yourself in and the roof terrace - surely the best in the development - being the icing on the cake.

Albufeira has 2 beaches: the golden sands of the Town Beach with bars, restaurants and water sports, reached via a tunnel through the cliff side, and Fisher men's Beach with its wide sandy shore often lined with brightly painted fishing boats. Within a short drive there are numerous other beaches varying from the sandy coves at Sao Rafael to the long stretches of golden sand at Gale, Praia Grande (nr Pera) and Falesia. For nature lovers, Salgados is the perfect beach to unwind only 20 mins away.


Fly to Faro Airport which is served by a number of budget airlines from the UK. The apartment is situated to the west of Albufeira just above the old town. It is approx 46km from the airport. Taxi fare is about 35 euros and the travel time around 40 minutes. Car hire, although not essential, is readily available at Faro airport.


Windmill Hill is just an 8 to 10 mins walk to the old town of Albufeira and a short distance to the new marina. A short taxi ride takes you to the vibrant strip area and the Algarve shopping complex. Albufeira is one of the Algarve’s most popular resorts but retains its distinctive Portuguese character. The historic town is particularly pretty with its narrow cobbled streets lined with whitewashed houses, restaurants and shops. The central square is a good place to sit and watch the world go by.
