What first hits you is the total silence, apart from the occasional cow or sheep bell, and that view. Enjoying perfect panoramas,1500 ft up, over the Andalucian hills to Africa and the Mediterranean, this is a relaxing refuge at any time of year. The house is set within its own 2 acre garden on a working farm of 250 acres. A feature of the house is the 13m pool, heated on request. A well maintained tennis court is available within a 2 minute drive or walk. Riding can be arranged locally, and polo for beginners at Jimena, 20 mins. Some of Europe's best golf courses are 40 mins drive away at Sotogrande. Most shopping can be done within 10 mins at Gaucin or San Pablo where a variety of restaurants are available. The house, which features a piano, TV, DVD and CD player, WIFI connection , is maintained by a gardener and 2 dailys. There is a built-in barbecue aside the house. The cooler months Sep-Dec can be a lovely time to go with temp around high of 25c. and plenty of sun.

The Owner purchased this villa in 1980

Why The Owner chose Gaucín

We built the property in 1985 as part of the La Almuna development of 12 houses. I fell in love with the site and area, as you will, at first sight. Incredible peace and solitude and what must be close to the finest view in Europe.

What makes this villa unique

Charming, I hope, staff who have been with me for 23 years and are responsible for the day to day running of the house.

The convenience of shopping within ten minutes drive in either direction.

Wonderful walking and riding.

Marvellous drives through the cork forests, and day outs to Ronda and other local white villages of Andalucia. Seville is a day out, although a long one.

The views from the terrace and swimming pool are spectacular, and the garden looked lovely despite the heat. Manuel became used to finding one or two of us in the garden in the morning when it was too hot to sleep.

We were very fortunate that it was free.

Notes on accommodation: Pool heating is available on request at £ 150 per week. Radiators are provided between October and May. The house is a family house suitable for children. Manuel, the gardener, speaks some English, is popular with tenants, and will willingly assist or advise in emergencies. A local rep, Josefi, will supervise your stay. Outside: The exclusive pool is approx. 13 x 5m. An outside terrace provides seating for 8 or more to relax and a dining table to seat 10. A further 8 loungers are down by the pool. There is an outside barbeque close to the kitchen. Utility Room: Washing machine, iron, ironing board. A clothes line generally ensures that washing is dry within the day. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All linen and bathing towels are included. They can be changed on request or washed. A gardener, Manuel, comes to the house for 3 hours each day and 2 dailys, Natalia and her daughter, twice a week for 1.5 hours.

Stunning location

This was our second fortnight at El Robledo after two weeks in September 2015. It was a delight to compare the changing seasonal landscape, wildlife and wildflowers with our previous trip. The house sits on a wonderful elevated plot with fabulous views down to Gibraltar and the Moroccan coast. Tranquillity is assured by the location on a private estate. Local staff are courteous, efficient and attentive. Beautiful gardens are immaculately maintained and the lovely swimming pool area with plenty of shade as well as views provides the perfect place to spend lazy days. When more energetic, there are wonderful walks by local rivers and in natural parks of cork oak and eucalyptus. Nearby pretty villages provide bars and restaurants with terrific views. We have booked again for 2017 which says it all....

Stunning location

This was our second stay at El Robledo, having spent two weeks there in September 2015. The house enjoys a magnificent position, overlooking gently rolling hills down to Gibraltar. Tranquillity is assured by its location on a private estate. Beautiful gardens are well maintained and a fine swimming pool with tremendous views is a lovely place to spend the day. The local staff are friendly and efficient. Nearby villages are pretty and offer decent restaurants with equally attractive views. The countryside offers good walking and abundant wildlife and wildflowers, which vary by season. We have booked again for 2017 which perhaps says it all!

Wonderful time in Spanish house

We had the most wonderful time in El Robledo. The house was cosy and spacious, wonderful views, lovely terrace and pool. We had a Christmas holiday, lunch on the terrace and cosy real fires in the evening. The house was very comfortable and well furnished and equipped. Would most certainly return again and again. Lovely area of Spain too. Very interesting, quiet and tranquil yet shops not too far away and good quality food.

Truly wonderful stay

This is the most wonderful place to stay. The house is down a long drive, making it a truly quiet and relaxing place to stay, away from it all! The most beautiful views by day and amazing sunsets by night! House is wonderfully homey making it a very easy relaxing place to wind down and switch off. We were a group of mums wanting a few days off, away from family to enjoy the sunshine, swim read our books, while enjoying spain at its best! All said, there is a glorious pool, walking and tennis for those wanting to be active. Lovely unspoilt local villages for shopping and eating out. A highly recommended house, we've already booked our next stay, though this time with my whole family, as it's so good it would be mean not to share it!!!

Lovely Country House

El Robledo is a great country house in a magnificent and completely tranquil setting. We were only 4 but the house could have easily slept 8. Our kids loved the very large pool and we also used the shared tennis court every day (although you need to play very early or late in the day as it's so hot). Gaucin had a couple of nice restaurants for dinner and was a typical picturesque Spanish village.

Best Holiday Ever.

This is one of those places that photographs just can't do justice. Utterly private apart from the sheep and goats which stroll by just below the pool from time to time, yet very open views down the valley to Gibraltar and the Atlas Mountains in North Africa. Garden and pool are well-kept by Manuel, and the covered outdoor dining area overlooks all. Normally we eat at restaurants, but found it hard to tear ourselves away from this Eden. The nearby towns are friendly and not over-developed. A visit to Ronda is a must, but very touristy.

No problems of any kind with the villa, staff, owner or anything.

We were going to return in 2015, but were pipped to our chosen dates by some other lucky devils! Maybe next year.

Special interest holidays:

Polo can be arranged at Jimena, 20 mins drive.


Whilst the Mediterranean beaches can be reached within 40 mins drive, the best beaches are beyond Tarifa on the Atlantic coast, 90 mins drive, where some of Europe's best windsurfing can be found.


Fly to Gibraltar 1 hour, or Malaga 90 mins drive from the house. Car hire can easily be arranged at around 20 euros a day.


Ronda, 40 mins.

Seville, 90 mins.

Jerez, 120 mins.

Marbella, 45 mins.

Gibraltar, 60 mins.

Further Details:

Most shopping can be done locally in Gaucin or San Pablo, both 10 mins drive.

There is a very good fish market opposite the bank in Gaucin, open until midday

A cook can be provided on request.

Excellent takeaway dishes can be arranged.
