About Ingrid Fife

My husband and I live in England. We have 2 boys of 28 and 24 plus a dog. We love outdoor activities and will give most things a try which is why we bought in Chamonix. We had been before in both Summer and Winter and knew there was loads to do in both seasons. We are delighted that as well as enjoying many of the same activities we are also still finding new things to try. Access is great with the motorway up to the Mont Blanc tunnel giving dual carriageway to within a mile of the town centre. This means either an easy transfer from Geneva in about an hour or an 8 hour drive from Calais, so on our longer breaks we can bring our much loved pet who unsurprisingly loves outdoor activities too. Unusually for Chamonix centre we have 2 parking spaces and a lift up to the apartment.

Ingrid Fife purchased this apartment in 2008

Why Ingrid Fife chose Haute-Savoie

The skiing possibilities are huge with the Multi pass covering 7 ski areas in 3 countries. This has the advantage of both providing huge variety but also of letting you choose your area to get the best conditions on the day. For non skiers there are loads of options from sightseeing to walking, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, husky sledging, skiing. Chamonix is a proper town and so has loads of amenities as well - lots of restaurants and shops, but also a good indoor pool complex, an ice rink, indoor climbing walls, indoor tennis and 10 pin bowling. Summer brings a huge choice. Apart from all types of mountaineering there is canyoning, white water rafting/ canoeing and mountain biking, a great golf course and some fabulous day out options too - Summer luge, parcours, Lac Passy.

What makes this apartment unique

When our friends, family and guests have stayed we are always delighted at the enthusiasm they come back with both for our apartment and for the Chamonix region. The spaciousness of the apartment is always a focus, as is the central location. For self catered accomodation you can't do much better than being 1 minute walk from the main supermarket and 20 seconds to the 4 nearest restaurants! This gives people a real choice to eat in, eat out or have a take away and not to have to decide until the last minute which to pick. In winter the fabulous open hearth and the big kitchen table create a fabulous homely environment. In Summer the large windows, french doors and balcony allow the Summer in and you to sit out and sunbathe.

Guestbook comments from the owner

"We had a fantastic week in Chamonix with sun and snow, very pleased with the apartment, lovely views and location and are looking forward to returning sometime."

Phil (Birmingham).

"Just wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed the apartment. It’s not like any apartment I’ve rented in Chamonix before, incredibly spacious and the central location was really convenient. It had everything we needed.

I’ll have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone."

Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their stay at the apartment. Great location if you want to be in the centre of town. We would definitely look to stay here again if returning to chamonix.

Excellent, cannot fault.

  • 5 of 5

We had a 4 night stay on a Dad's and Kid's ski break. The apartment was the largest that I have stayed in Chamonix and perfectly located for everything you need. The playstation and games were a nice touch especially as they had good current games suitable for all.

The apartment was noisy at times due to its location and subsequent revellers, but we knew this before booking, so offered no problems or surprises. The kitchen is excellent and again large, containing everything that you need to cook and eat in if required. I would have no hesitation in staying in this spacious apartment again and in fact, probably will!

VERY NOISY location

  • 2 of 5

Disco/bar next door has VERY loud music till late at the weekends, about 30-50 people congregate outside at the bars until 3am every night, drinking, talking, shouting, singing, which is fun for them, but not at all for all of us. No earplugs help with the noise and we tried a variety whilst we stayed at this apartment. There is also music below from 3pm each afternoon except wednesdays where a DJ plays loud music and also opposite! With teenager sons who love their music, even for them, it dampened our holiday due to all of us experiencing a severe lack of sleep due to the very loud noise we experienced every night till the early hours. We were not told of the loud music from different venues when we booked, though now it is mentioned in a mild way on the website. For three full days during our stay, from 7:45am until 5:30pm, the apartment below had builders in, had we known this also, we would not have booked this accommodation. On the plus side, the apartment was very clean, and spacious. The bathrooms are modern with powerful showers. The kitchen is very well equipped for a comfortable stay, from flasks and lunch boxes to cocktail shaker!

Owner's Response: Richard I am sorry that you were disturbed by noise. It seems our downstairs neighbours had a short renovation project they undertook during your stay which was unfortunate. In relation to sound travelling from the bars - there is a trade off between a location in the middle of the town and potential disturbance which is why we particularly refer to the central location and use of earplugs in the notes about the property.

Excellent apartment in Chamonix

  • 5 of 5

This is a great apartment in a great central location. The apartment was spacious, modern and comfortable. The washer/dryer in unit was very useful, and so was the crib that was provided. On the weekend there is some noise from the bars, but it did not bother us. Highly recommend.

Central, perfect.

  • 5 of 5

Reluctant to say how good/central and spacious it really is, as I don't want to be competing with you when I get around to booking it again next year. I've been coming here for years, the apartment is large, comfortable and perfectly located in the centre of town.

Notes:

  • Notes on accommodation: The proximity to the town centre restaurants and bars could not be better. Unfortunately this means that on busy nights it can be noisy if you are used to more rural living. In our view the benefits outweigh the noise and we use earplugs during busy periods to ensure an uninterrupted sleep. Outside: Although this Chamonix apartment enjoys the most fantastic central location, the buildings outside the windows are almost all low level which means that it is not really overlooked allowing views of 3 aspects. The apartment has a large terrace balcony which extends most of the length of the apartment with fantastic views of the Bosson Glacier and Mont Blanc. Relax in the comfortable deck chairs and enjoy the magnificent view. There is private parking for 2 cars which takes all the hassle out of trying to find a parking space. There is also a private lockable ski cave in the basement which is extremely useful for skiers. Utility Room: No utility but washing machine with integral dryer in kitchen. Ski locker in basement for boots and skis. Large entrance hallway with hooks, a cupboard with ironing board and hoover, storage unit for shoes/hats/gloves etc. Cot and High chair available Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: The apartment has pillows and duvets for all beds/sofa beds. Our local partners will meet you and show you round the apartment as well as help with any questions you have. Other: In the hallway is a desk, office chair and wi-fi
