Apartment in Puerto Pollensa, Mallorca, - 2 Minutes Walk to the Beach

The apartment is centrally located 2 minutes from the beach and the Pine Walk. Close to the main square and local shops, bars and restaurants. There is a balcony on the same floor as the apartment, with a stunning roof terrace with views of the bay and mountains. The apartment comprises 2 bedrooms - 1 with double bed, and 1 twin-bedded - with additional sleeping accommodation on a sofa bed in the living room. The living room opens onto a shaded balcony with a spiral staircase leading to the roof terrace, equipped with comfortable outdoor furniture, built-in barbecue and food preparation and shower areas. Local golf courses are about a 20 minute drive.

Lovely apartment, shame about local agents

I stayed in this apartment for a week in July with family members, the description is pretty much what you get, the only difference is that there are not ceiling fans, but free standing fans, which only give you benefit if you are directly in front of them. (But hey we did go in July). Both bedrooms are of a good size, with plenty of wardrobe space. The kitchen/lounge is large and the roof top terrace is amazing, it is also very well equipped and hot water was available at all times. Our only problem was that on the morning after we arrived we went to open the roller shutter to access the balcony and spiral staircase to the roof and when it go to 2ft from the ground, it collapsed, so we tried again and the same thing happened, so very carefully we had a further try, this time we put a stool under it, as we needed some breeze through the apartment and we achieved this by opening the front door too. The maintenance man was called and to give him his due he came about an hour or so later, but as it was Sunday he said he could not do anything, but would report it to administration the following day (Monday). He did however help to manually roll the shutter up to about 4ft (realising that we did not want to crawl in and out) and put two bar stools, one on top of the other under it to keep it up. This did mean that we could not close up the property at night or if we left the property at all. Due to the layout of the apartment you would need to be a super hero to scale the walls and break in, but IF anything had gone missing I doubt that our insurance would have covered it as we had left the property unsecured. When we left on the following Saturday, still no one had been to fix the shutter. Which incidentally we let down as we did not want to leave the property open on our departure. I would think that the owner of this property pays a fair amount to the local agents to fix this sort of problem, but on this occasion they failed big time. We were only grateful that we were on the inside when this problem occurred as there was no other way into the property, and we did spend a lot of time on the roof top terrace and could have found ourselves trapped out there. Overall it did not spoil our week there, but in future I will always make sure that something substantial is placed under a roller shutter, so it can't come crashing down when you are on the wrong side of it. Having said all that I would definitely stay there again.

Owner's Response: Dear Cate I am extremely sorry you had this issue with the shutter. Repairs had recently taken place on the French window and the shutter. Unfortunately, Peter was unable to get hold of the Administrator for the builidng until the Monday morning and he in turn had to order a part. The part arrived the following week and the shutter was repaired, but I do appreciate that this was not prior to your departure. I am so sorry it marred your holiday but I appreciate everything else you said about the apartment.
