Further Details:

The rich agricultural land of the Lot has given rise to some excellent produce which is celebrated in the local gastronomic traditions. A good red wine is produced in the region and the best takes its name from the department town of Cahors. Other well known specialities are the duck and the truffle but the immediate countryside produces much to enjoy. Local restaurants give good value for money. For those who seek active enjoyment there are miles of lanes through woods and fields to explore on foot or bicycle and touring and mountain bikes can be hired at several locations. Horse riding is also available locally. The rivers Lot and Dordogne provide opportunities for a variety of water sports. Passenger boats operate on the rivers and canoes can be hired. Both game and coarse fishing are enjoyed on local rivers and lakes.
