Detached Villa With Shared Pool & Superb Sea Views In Private Tropical Garden

Updated: 02-Sep-2016
Detached Villa in Mullins Bay, St Peter, Barbados - Splendid Location, Only A Few Minutes Walk To The Beach

Surrounded by mature Mahogany, Hibiscus and beautiful foliage, Palm Tree Villa nestles in a tranquil pot-pourri of tropical flowers, shrubs, coconut palms, sweet smelling frangipani, and birdsong, with six other properties. The garden is located on a small natural ridge enjoying cooling breezes from the east coast and overlooking Mullins village, with a backdrop of the Caribbean Sea, Beautiful Mullins beach is at the bottom of Mullins Road just 900 metres away. Palm Tree Villa is a spacious, single storey, 2 bedroom villa, tastefully furnished to provide a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere during your stay. A raised pool with sun-deck is adjacent to the villa. All amenities (bank, supermarket restaurants, post office etc are available at Speightstown, just a short 5 minute car/bus journey away. Mullins Beach is popular with a beach restaurant and water sports, umbrellas and chair hire all available. A petrol station with 24 hour store is also opposite the beach. Gibbs Beach is located in the adjacent bay southwards and is very quiet with no amenities if this is your preference. Ideal for a family of four or up to four adults, or for a quiet break as a couple. Mullins Beach Club and Spa is situated on the West Coast Road opposite the beach, with hairdressers and Sauna available to non residents.

If you leave the villa and turn left up the hill you will drive through acres of Sugar Cane fields before reaching Highway 2A which connects to the whole of the island road network. There are wonderful views of the ocean from here in the daytime and fine sunsets when you are driving back down through the cane fields in the late afternoon. Turning left onto Highway 2A quickly takes yo to North Point, ant the very top of the Island where there are spectacular cliff-top views of the rollers hitting the rocks below. From here your can continue clockwise travelling through wonderful scenery and eventually driving down the East Coast Road, which is an absolute must during your stay. This is the Atlantic coast, rugged and windy and oh so beautiful, completely different to the West Coast which enjoys the softer waves of the Caribbean Sea.

You can drive round the whole island easily in a day, but we would recommend that you to explorer it over a few days. There are so many hidden beauty spots to discover and places that you just can't resist getting out of the car and enjoying for a few hours. Everywhere in Barbados is safe and the locals are very friendly. There are so many places of interest to enjoy and tourist attractions galore if you can stay for long enough!

If you head south from Mullins Beach, you quickly arrive at Holetown, which has a wonderful new Duty Free Shopping centre. It is a busy small town with a good variety of shops and restaurants, banks and supermarkets. A short journey onwards brings you to Sandy Lane the most expensive hotel on the island, where the rich and famous are spending their money. A lovely public beach here if you don't mind a walk to reach it. Still further south you drive past The Cliff restaurant, a first class place for a meal if you don't mind a big bill at the end.

You then turn along the south coast and past the busy Cruise terminal and the Oval cricket ground before reaching the capital Bridgetown. on again past the airport and The Crane Resort, a luxury place to own a home in Barbados and then up the East Coast again towards Bathsheba, where the surfers show off the skills in The Soup Bowl!

Having explored the whole coastline, the next few spare days when you are not swimming it the warm oceans, is to discover the wonderful places in the interior. Gullies and Forests, Golf courses and Caves, wildlife parks and Museums and so many beautiful views. Barbados is full of so many things to see and do. You will probably have to come back quite a few more times to see them all!

About the Owner

About the owners. We are Francine and Roger Waddell, and live close to the sea at Broadstairs in Kent. We visited Barbados for the first time in 2000 as our “Millennium Treat” and fell in love with the Island, the people and the climate immediately. We visited every year after that, trying out different rental properties on each visit. We quickly got to know the whole island as we toured around in our little hire car, and gradually narrowed down to our favourite location.

By 2004, we decided that we would like to buy our own place, and set about viewing properties for sale on each occasion we visited the island. In 2006, we happened across a property that we fell in love with in Mullins. After a total refurbishment inside and out, we now rent it out to share the experience with others, and update it each year, as funds allow. We spend a couple of months there each year and never want to leave. It is home from home to us and we hope you find the same when you decide to visit. We look forward to hearing from you. We have our own car over there which gives us freedom to explore and we strongly recommend that you do the same. Barbados is such a pleasurable island and there are so many hidden coves and bays to explore and so many attractions to visit. Remember, Barbados is a small coral island so you will not find skyscrapers and wide carriageways. You will soon slow down to the Caribbean pace and learn how to chill, and the pleasure comes from the island's natural beauty and the friendliness of their people. Come and see for yourself.

Stunning villa & area in a quiet place but only 5mins away from beaches/ restaurants. The best villa that we have stayed in and we have been visiting Barbados for 20 years. John & Janice UK - Sept. 2012

As a regular visitor to Barbados, staying at Palm Tree Villa has been my best experience so far. Location is superb, set in a peaceful oasis, yet only minutes from everything you need. Spacious & airy villa benefiting from cooling breezes due to elevated position. Well maintained, spotlessly clean and fully equipped including an excellent, fast wifi. The booking process is friendly, professional and efficient. Documentation is comprehensive and you feel that you know the villa even before you arrive. Andrew UK Oct - 2012

“Tranquil and unspoilt, it’s paradise!” We have visited Palm Tree Villa three times now and cannot wait to return. It is so peaceful, comfortable and well appointed. We would recommend hiring a car to explore the whole island, which is so accessible M&C Feb2012

Wonderful Honeymoon in Paridise Location

  • 5 of 5

This really was a perfect honeymoon from start to finish. Shaun the driver collected us at the airport and took us to the villa with a stop at the shops to collect some provisions en route.

We arrived at the villa, just up the road from the sea, We loved the setting, the gardens and pool area are really beautiful. The villa is very contemporary and spotlessly clean. The vaulted ceilings and big sliding doors opening out on to the patio makes the lounge so light and airy. The bedrooms are very comfortable and the modern shower rooms were great with powerful showers We self catered most days and found the kitchen well set out with everything we needed.

We explored all over the island in the hire car and found the villa to be in the perfect spot. The air con was great and cooled

We spent many relaxing hours in the pool surrounded by the lovely tropical gardens. A short stroll down the hill took us to Mullens Bay where there is a gorgeous sandy beach and a sea that is warm! We ate at the beach restaurant quite a few times as the food was excellent and very resonantly priced.

We would highly recommend both Barbados and Palm Tree Villa....... If you haven't been yet you are missing out.

From the Owner

Mullins is a 45minute drive from the modern International Airport. The garden is shared with six other similar properties and has a shared pool. We have a gardener who tends the flowers and lawns and keeps things tidy. It is set on the first ridge, with cool breezes, overlooking the Caribbean Sea.The fabulous local beach at Mullins Bay, at the bottom of our road, is just a walk away and is one of the best on the island. There is a Beach Bar and Restaurant, and a small beach kiosk that also hires out sun-beds and sun umbrellas. There is usually a choice of water sports available at the far end of the bay. The sand is beautiful and the sea gentle and warm, although like all seaside places, at certain times of year when the weather is bad, swimming is not always advisable!

Activity and Interests

Nearest Airport : Grantley Adams ( the only airport in Barbados) at 15 Miles Nearest Barpub : Mullins Beach Bar at 0.3 Kilometres Nearest Golf : Holetown at 2 Miles Nearest Restaurant : Mullins beach at 0.3 Miles Nearest Beach : Mullins at 0.3 Miles Car: recommended

700 metres to the local beach, Mullins, just a few minutes walk or one minute drive by car. There is a beach bar and restaurant here, plus beach loungers and umbrellas for hire, Adrian's beach shop for buckets and spades, ice cream souvenirs etc. A selection of water sports appear around school holidays, including raft, jet ski, water ski, canoes, boat rides, banana rides etc. Alternatively, take a short walk round to the left finds Gibbs Beach, which has no amenities and is just idyllic and quiet.

Grantley Adams Airport Barbados (the only airport on the island) about 45 mins pleasant drive away. A taxi would cost about US$90 (£60). Have a word with us if you are contemplating hiring a car and we can make some helpful money saving suggestions ! (NB A Barbados driving permit is required costing $10BDS) For the cost of a taxi we can arrange a "meet and greet" service, with our driver standing outside the arrivals holding a board with your name on it. He will deliver your party to the villa and even drop you at a supermarket for supplies on the way.

Speightstown, historic old capital, banks shops supermarkets and restaurants about half a mile north, less than 5 minutes in the car or bus. Holetown, all facilities above plus new shopping mall and many restaurants, police station etc 10 minute drive in car or bus (BDS$2). Bridgetown the Capital, 25 mins by car, 35 mins by bus. All facilities plus many buildings of interest, including Nelson's Column and the Parliament buildings and Cathedral etc etc. You can drive a car and explore the island!

Further Details:

All cards accepted almost everywhere. ATMs at nearly every bank, where you can draw cash. Local telephone calls are free from the villa. International calls can be accepted but not made, outgoing international calls must be revers charge calls via the operator.

Barbados supermarkets stock very similar items to UK supermarkets, and there are different qualities of supermarkets with differing prices, just as the UK. There are many nice restaurants locally, both large and small at various prices and menus. Look in our coffee table book when you arrive for recommendations from other satisfied guests.

You can arrange boat trips, swim with the turtles, visit the caves, go down in a submarine, visit the Nature reserve, or the monkey sanctuary. You can visit the sugar factory or the rum distillery, go on a safari off road trip or even a helicopter flight. We have lots of information available for you to browse through, including a lovely hard back edition of "the Ins and Outs of Barbados" which is an attractively illustrated reference book which gives information, contact details, ideas and events calendars for the whole year.

Just come over and enjoy this beautiful island. Soak up the sunshine and the way of life. Chill out at one of the many local bars or beaches. Talk with the locals and learn how to live at the Barbados pace! A visit to the new Duty Free Shopping Mall in Holetown is great for the shoppers and there are some great bargains. Its called Lime Grove and even boasts two luxury cinemas.

The East Coast is so different to the West and is easy to reach by car, and you can visit North Point and River Bay, at the top of the island on the way. The south coast is different again and has many eateries and places of interest and some lovely beaches too. Explore the whole island, its safe and beautiful, and the locals are so friendly and helpful. Visit the local attractions, talk with the locals. Visit our website for a 6 minute video tour and a proper look round!

A Spa is situated opposite the entrance to Mullins Beach Bar, and is part of the Royal Westmoreland Beach Club, however, it is also open to non-residents. Alternatively, there are golf clubs within a short drive away, for those who feel more energetic, or you can always book a boat trip, or swim with the turtles. For absolute peace and tranquillity, just take a short walk (approx. 200 metres) around the bay northwards, and you arrive at Gibbs Beach, where there are no beach bars, chairs or umbrellas, just beach front homes and palm trees and the occasional luxury cruiser! There is a small town in both directions from Mullins, just a short bus or car ride away, with restaurants, banks, supermarkets and all you will need while you are on holiday. If you have any questions just e-mail me!
