Thank you for landing on our page; you will not be disappointed. Our rental charges are very competitive, out guest's feedback wonderful, and our occupancy over 80%. Read on to decide if our Casa Tranquilidade, in beautiful Burgau, is that place in the sun for your 2017 vacation. We will consider rentals enquiries starting week days, and for durations of less than 7 days, please contact the owner as ask.

Our guests are supported from the moment they book their holiday with us. We provide pre travel support, apartment guide, route maps, support when looking for car hire, airport transfers, specialist diet restaurants and food shops, inc. baby food advice, and local places to visit.

Let us tell you a little about our apartment, and the way we look after you throughout your stay.

You will be met on arrival in Burgau and shown through the apartment and the Burgau Owners Club facilities. Our Property Manager is on hand to offer advice and provide guidance to the Algarve. We provide our guests with a comprehensive 'welcome pack' and they have access to our free Wi-Fi, and free British TV and Movie channels.

The property is a luxury fully air conditioned and fully furnished apartment and situated on the 4-star Domus Iberica resort on the edge of the traditional fishing village of Burgau in the Western Algarve. The whole apartment has recently been fully re-decorated throughout. On-site facilities include a stunning covered pool, gardens and children’s pool and a range of large and safe playground equipment.

Normal minimum stay is 7 nights but we will consider shorter periods of booking to suit our guests, and we are flexible on which day of the week you want to start or end your holiday to help gain benefit from certain airfare deals.

About the Owner

Paul & Jules, a British couple in their 50's and 60's, bought this beautiful apartment 10 years ago, to spend the winter months 'in the sun'. We furnished the apartment for our tastes as we plan to retire here; and we have stored all our 'summer' clothes there, in a locked up basement storage area, so when we travel for a break to Burgau, we travel very light. You'll enjoy the time you spend in Casa Tranquilidade, as many of our guests have in the past. Any questions just drop us an email, always happy to assist.

We've stayed several times and will return again. Communication with the owner is excellent and efficient. Ana is just lovely and genuinely wants everything to be ok, which of course it always is. The apartment is well equipped with plenty of towels and kitchen gadgets. Comfortable bed and spotlessly clean. Would wholeheartedly recommend.

Home from home

We had a wonderful 4 days at Casa Tranquilidade. The apartment is spacious, clean and very well equipped. There is everything you need, including lots of coat hangers(unusual!) and we felt very much at home. Ana, the manager, looked after us extremely well and was a mine of information. Location wise, the apartment is perfect, it is a five minute stroll in to the village and another five minutes to the beach. The untamed West Coast, which we love, is just a short drive away as are the lovely villages of Salema and Sagres.

Second visit

This was our second visit to Paul & Jules' apartment and was as good as the first. It actually felt like we were 'coming home' as it is such a cosy well equipped apartment. The weather was especially kind to us this year too. Ana, the apartment manager is a treasure and is always at hand should you need her! Look forward to visiting again.

A delightful apartment in a wonderful setting

We had a fantastic holiday. The apartment was great with everything we needed. It was very clean and tidy. Burgau itself is a lovely village with a great beach. I would highly recommend this apartment.

A most enjoyable stay with all the home comforts

We had poor weather but that did not stop us enjoying the good food and wine the area offers. The apartment has everything needed to be a home from home with the added luxury of two bathrooms. This was our second visit to Casa Tranquilidad and we found it perfectly clean and just as good as last time.

Location

From the Owner

Burgau is a like a little Cornish fishing village, cobble stoned 1:3 roads to uncrowded beach and little houses all remind us of Polperro. If you need you can drive down to beach side parking for those, like my 90 yr old Mum, who couldn't manage the steepness. The development I suppose is slightly out of character, but following the new Portuguese development regulations it has been limited to 2 storey high and finished in a very light colour that does blend into the older village style. We enjoy all the seasons Burgau offers from the baking summers to the fresh, warm winters, even the rain only seems to last a short while then blue skies again. The development is uncluttered, quiet and safe, the village offers everything we need and was one of the main factors when we decided to buy.

Coast/Beach:

The beach is only a short 10 minute walk through the cobbled streets of the village, and for those who enjoy walking, this is a fantastic area for walks along the stunning coastline, east towards Praia da Luz and west towards Sagres. For those less able, you can drive down to Burgau beach-side car parking areas. There is also an award winning beach-bar restaurant. There are also many nearby secluded beaches accessible by foot or car. Heading West takes you to many popular surfing areas.

Travel:

The resort is about 50 mins from Faro airport and is a popular holiday destination for families and is ideal for those with young children. Car rental is very economical compared to the UK, from the many hire car companies at the airport. Contact owners for their preferred Faro and Lisbon based supplier.

Distances:

Burgau is 10km west from Lagos approx a 15 min drive. 5km from Praia da Luz approx 5 min drive.

Further Details:

Burgau is located on the edge of the Costa Vincentina national park with many unspoilt and beautiful beaches and other historical venues including a castle.

There are shops, supermarkets, restaurants and pubs in the village of Burgau, and a daily visiting fruit and vegetable market. The Burgau sports centre has an indoor pool, tennis court, playground and other activities for adults and children. There is also a cash machine in the village and many others in nearby Luz and Lagos.

25% of rental fee required with booking (non refundable). Full rental payment required 8 weeks before date of arrival. Payment by IBAN, cash or cheque. Sorry no credit or debit cards. Breakage deposit £100 refunded within 10 days from departure date. We strive to give good value for money, and have always tried to keep our rentals charges as low as is possible - we are again (2014) probably one of the cheapest luxury apartments in the area.

Changeover Day:
Changeover days are normally Saturdays; however to take advantage of weekday flights this can be altered. Contact owner to discuss. Access from 3:00pm on day of arrival and vacated by 10:00 am to allow maids to refresh the apartment for the new guests.

Notes on prices:
Prices are per week in GBP, email owner for price in Euros. Longer periods of rental (over 14 days) will attract further 10% discount.
Discounts and special deals are also available for extended Winter stays. Due to popular carriers flight discounts flying outside of weekends, the owners will by sympathetic to weekday arrivals/departures in their pricing - contact the owners for all discounts.

Facilities

From the Owner

The co-located all year pool, is a big attraction for us, as are the beautiful cliff top walks, easy cycling to neighbouring towns, and the very friendly welcoming local residents. 45 mins drive from Faro airport along the uncrowded motorway through Lagos, is fantastic for those who arrive by plane. We use a great little hire car company for cheap hires of the budget compact cars. The day we arrive we shop for basics, there are many local supermarkets. We also provide a starter pack to get guest settled in. We are fortunate to have an excellent local agent Ana who meets our guests and shows them around, and looks after their every need. There is a full book of ideas in the apartment, and Ana is on hand to help guests decide what to do in the region, just a phone call away.

Guest will be met on arrival in Burgau by our Property Manager. We have also arranged 24/7 maintenance support by a local English business, for guests peace of mind - all managed by us to leave the guests to get on with their holidays. Outside: The veranda is about 50ft long with a built-in BBQ and 2 tables (4 and 6 seaters) with 6 chairs. Access to the veranda can be made from both bedrooms and the living room. BBQ grill base and tools available. There is a large private-members outdoor swimming pool (solar heated and part covered for those cooler times of the year), with umberella and sunbeds, a small kids paddling pool, a range of safe large playground equipment, a pond with fish, shared gardens, and BBQ. Guests (up to 6) have free access to these fantastic private-member facilities. Utility Room: Off the kitchen a small storage area for coats, veranda furniture, BBQ and guest use cleaning material.
