This family-owned apartment is situated in the heart of the Island’s capital Funchal, and within the fashionable Savoy hotel tourist district. A very spacious 3-bedroom apartment, it has been recently refurbished with both style and comfort in mind and caters for those who are looking for that special holiday combined with the privacy and freedom of a 'home abroad'. The apartment will comfortably sleep up to 6 people, with 2 bathrooms (1 en-suite), a large kitchen/diner, a reception hall and lounge, and balconies, the largest of which has a partial sea view. This light and airy 3rd floor apartment boasts 5 balconies which are all served by the sun at different times of the day throughout the year, ensuring that there is always a comfortable and cooling retreat from the year-round sunshine should it be needed. Full parquet flooring throughout and ventilated window shutters combine to maintain a comfortable temperature inside the apartment, even on the hottest days.

Never fails to impress!!

This was our third visit and we enjoyed it as much as the first. This apartment is in a great location, close to public transport with several restaurants nearby. The standard of furnishings is exceptional and the little personal touches make it stand out. It is well maintained and the cleaning service is excellent. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to either a couple or a family. We hope to return for another visit.

Great apartment in Funchal

We booked this apartment as it has 4 bedrooms and was in a great location.

The rooms are very spacious and decorated beautifully, you will be spoilt for choice with bedrooms.

The kitchen has all you need if you do want to self cater but we ate out most days.

Lots of balconies to choose from to enjoy a poncha or two.

It's very close to the old town and only a few minutes walk to the bus stop if you want to go down to the beach end. Give the Jacaranda bistro a try lovely food and a warm welcome it's just at the top of the street. We used the pool across the road for 6euros which was great.

Overall a lovely spacious apartment and Sarah was lovely to deal with would recommend 😀

Absolute Gem

We stayed at this beautiful apartment at the beginning of July. It was just me and my Husband and we were spoiled with such spacious and tastefully decorated accommodation !

It's in a convenient location and remarkably quiet, we absolutely loved sitting out on the main balcony (1 of 5 ) just chilling watching the world go by. The little Shop just a minute away came in very handy for the wine to be consumed that evening!!!

We walked into the Center which took us about 15 minutes. There are plenty of shops and a nice big supermarket, we didn't feel the need to take a bus or taxi as we enjoyed cutting through the beautiful Santa Catarina Park. We also paid a couple of visits to the Lido which is lovely and clean. There is a walk you can do which goes along the coastline to Camara de Lobos, Which takes in some stunning views.

We have never been to Madeira before and we can't wait to come back, lots to do like the cable cars to Monte, the Gardens,catamaran trips to see Dolphins and Jeep safaris.

The apartment is very large and the photos really don't do it justice, as mentioned earlier it is beautifully decorated and it was a pleasure to spend time here, felt like I was very posh in the big main bedroom.

On the main balcony there is a lovely view toward the ocean, on our next Visit we will bring our family to this lovely highly recommended apartment.

Madeira is a beautiful , stunning island and we have both fallen in love with it, we've never been to the same place twice. We will be sure to return more than once.

Fabulous location, great spacious apartment

Perfect location, we pretty much walked everywhere except the airport in our 5 night stay. Sarah very accommodating as we had the apartment to tie in with our flights rather than set times. Apartment is very spacious, bedrooms are especially large, kitchen well equipped. Whilst central to Funchal (15mins amble through park to touristy harbour, less to shops), apartment is only 2-3 mins walk from very well rated restaurants that were much cheaper than the touristy parts. Little road noise for such a good location. We would definitely go back to stay there, worked really well with 3 teenage boys as they had the park very nearby to kick a football around when we wanted peace & quiet!

fantastic apartment

just back from spending a week in this apartment and i would highly recommend staying here. I personally think the apartment is better than the photos look Everything was immaculate and spotlessly clean, well stocked with pots pans plates utensils everything you will need, its like home from home. The location is good with a lovely short walk along the sea front in to town . You will have no problems or worries if you book this apartment as the owners are a lovely family . everything they say they will do they done i will definitely be back to this accommodation and would recommend it to friends and family. A HUGE THANK YOU TO SARAH FOR ALL YOUR HELP

What a wonderful apartment and holiday we have all had. We came here for the New Year fireworks and had a brilliant time. Thank you Sarah for letting us stay in your magnificent home, it's like a show home. Spotless, spacious with 5 star furnishings. There was 8 of us and plenty of crockery/glasses and cutlery for all of us. It does have 4 bedrooms ( 3 have double beds and the 4th has twin beds ) it also has 5 balconies so you can have the sunshine all day. It is in such a good location because you can walk into town within minutes . There's a Spar at the top of the road. The housekeeper lives behind the block so it's nice to know if there was an emergency someone was there. It's a beautiful island . I would recommend the hop on /off bus, the cable car into Monte, the toboggan ride, the dolphin watching and any of the east/west tours. O Portao restaurant was our favorite restaurant in the Old Town. The small restaurant next to Spar was also very good. We managed to buy tickets to watch the New Year fireworks from the roof of the Pestana Carlton for 40euros that included glasses of champagne. Magical time only negative we only stayed for 1 week. Sarah responded quickly and efficiently with a friendly manner throughout and we will return. Thank you Sarah.

Activity and Interests

Nearest Beach : 10-15 mins walk at 150 Metres Car: not necessary


The apartment is no more than 150 metres from the coast, next to the old port which is situated beside Funchal's Marina. There are two beaches close to the apartment, one to the East of Funchal near the Old Town (10 to 15 minutes walk) and the other to the west of Funchal past the Hotel District (under 10 minutes driving). Alternatively, you may visit the famous Lido which allows access to the sea for swimming in addition to the sea water pools (10 minutes walk).


Madeira Airport is about 25 minutes drive from the apartment.

Bus - Service runs every 15 minutes, drops passengers off outside the Casino Park Hotel. The bus service costs 5 euros each, to be paid on boarding (free for passengers using TAP airline).

Alternatively, we can arrange to have a local taxi driver and friend Joao meet you at arrivals and bring you directly to the apartment doorstep for 25 euros and 25 euros for the return. Let us know in advance if this service is required.


The apartment is in Funchal's hotel district (West Funchal). The city center is no greater than 5 minutes by walk. The historical 'Sé Cathedral' built in 1438, under 10 minutes walk. Fishing village of Camara De Lobos 5 km. The town of Monte (home of the famous toboggan ride) is under 15 minutes drive or shorter by cable car. The famous Botanical Gardens at Quinta do Bom Sucesso is 3 km from the apartment. The old town traditional market 'Mercado dos Lavradores' is 10 minutes walk.

Prices are for the property per week in UK pounds for two people.

• A deposit of 30% of the total cost is required to confirm your booking. This deposit is non-refundable & constitutes

• All outstanding balance due, must be paid in full no later than 8 weeks prior to the start of the holiday.
• An additional security deposit £150.00 shall be required as a breakages deposit. This shall be refunded in full upon your return,

• Cancellations - Advance notice of cancellations equates to the following (not inclusive of booking deposit):

  • Notes on accommodation: The apartment is very spacious and is suitable for guests of all ages, including children. Outside: Apartmento Princessa Dona Amelia is situated amongst a large number of local amenities and places for entertainment and leisure. There is a small grocery store located across the road and a larger supermarket under 5 minutes walk away. The closest pool is at the Bright Star Hotel, which is right next to the apartment. Use of the hotel’s pool costs % Euros per person, sun loungers and access to its outside bar and refreshments facilities. The apartment has a large selection of highly recommended restaurants, cafes and bars all situated within a few minutes walk. The tourist information desk is located a minute away from the apartment, making it very convenient to gather details of the island, tours and activities. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All towels and bedlinen will be changed weekly as a standard service, however, a daily maid / house keeper service is available upon request and at a small additional cost, paid locally. Other: Apartment has 5 balconies, the main balcony has a superb view across the west of Funchal (including the famous Savoy and Reid’s hotels) and of course the glistening Atlantic Ocean.
