Apartment on Rue Beaurepaire, Metro Republique, 10th District, Canal Saint Martin, Central Paris - Centrally Located Metro Republique, Lovely Area With Cafes, The Canal And Local Amenities To Hand

Wonderful, comfy apartment with lots of charm and originality in the centre of Paris. Balcony on 3 sides with French windows from every room leading onto it and rooftop views. Wood floors. Very light and airy. Discover a truly beautiful Parisian area, the Canal Saint Martin, a 19th century gem with bridges, cobblestones and a relaxed atmosphere with its lovely cafes and restaurants. Metro Republique is at one end of the street. This is central Paris and has great metro links to all destinations, the Eurostar, airports and EuroDisney. People particularly enjoy the location, the view, the layout and the decor when they stay here. It is a friendly unstuffy area with great shops and you will feel like a local not a tourist. One of the local bakeries (there are 5 - all good) has been voted best bakery in Paris by Gault and Millau and is definitely worth trying out. Please note the apartment is on the 5th floor with no lift which means you have no guilt after that extra croissant.

About The Owner

One day, as I was cycling through Paris, I looked up at the balcony of this flat and thought how lovely it would be to live there. A few years later an estate agent called me to visit an apartment. Quite by chance it was this very one. Twenty years on and I still feel very lucky to have found this special place. A very Parisian experience in an unspoilt area.

The apartment is in the centre of Paris. The Beaubourg/Pompidou modern art centre is 3 metro stops/15 mins walk away and the Louvre is 6 metro stops away (approx 20 mins by metro).

Further Details:

The canal is where the action is, concentrated between Rue Beaurepaire and Rue des Récollets. Built to transport materials from quarries in the north to the Seine and completed in 1825, the waterway's iron footbridges and locks are still here, along with the occasional barge or pleasure boat inching past along the greenish water. (You may remember Audrey Tautou playfully skimming stones here in "Amélie"). On warm

nights the stone banks are thronged with bobos - bourgeois bohemians - passing bottles of red wine, and baguettes. Here artists, young creative workers and fashionistas seduced by the area's lazy charm have begun to trickle in setting up small cafes, bars, boutiques and offices.

Last June, the owners of Mandala Ray, the trendy nightclub, opened a restaurant on the ground floor of the old Hôtel du Nord, 102, quai de Jemmapes, (33-1), made famous by Marcel Carné's 1938 film of the same name. Fashion designers like Christian Lacroix and Pierre Hardy as well as the graffiti artist and night-life impresario known simply as André, have been known to linger late into the night on the French fusion cuisine in the dimly-illuminated dining room with brown velvet sofas, walls of old books, and a raw wood planked floors. "People are starting to spend time here because it's like this little pocket of fresh air, some green and a feeling of a real everyday local life," said Marie Peltier, a co-owner of the Hôtel du Nord. "There's a feeling of time slowed down".

Great location, lovely & spacious apartment

This is a great, spacious apartment in a wonderful location, both in terms of the surrounding area, as well as transport links. It's just a couple of stops from the Gare du Nord and there are many cafes, restaurants and shops, including brilliant boulangeries, just steps from the apartment. We are a family of four and had more than enough space and loved being somewhere with such a Parisien feel.

We stayed here over the 2013/14 new year, and it is an ideal place.

It is ideally located, 3 stops on the metro from Gare du Nord, and a stone's throw from the metro. There are all the essential facilities locally, with a great boulangeries and restaurants practically outside the front door. The canal is at one end of the street and is a lovely walk. If you don't want to take the tube, it is only a leisurely 30 minute walk to The Louvre, Jardin du Tuileries, Pompidou Centre etc. Lots to see on the way too.

The apartment is typically Parisienne and has all the facilities you will need, being comfortable for a family of 4 with two teens. Being located on the corner of a building there are good views in all directions. There was enough space for all of us to unwind and relax as well as enough space to prepare and eat meals. The decor is generally in good order, with the invitation to leave tickets, postcards etc, stuck to the wall in the compact loo, a nice touch.

Don't worry too much about the 5 flights of stairs, it makes you feel less guilty about the extra croissant for breakfast!!!!

Duck's Nest

I have rented on many occasions in Paris, where I work from time to time, and Philippa's place is by far the best that I have ever come across. The apartment itself is absolutely special and lovely and welcoming, and very well appointed. The lounge is just amazing, like being on the prow of a big ship wth all round views and a wonderful wrap-round balcony. Philippa and Mags, the housekeeper, could not have been more friendly and helpful. I just wish I owned the place! I will be back!

Great break

We had a great weekend in the Duck's Nest. The area is one of our favourites and has a relaxed and young feel. There is a fantastic boulangerie and a great Cambodian restaurant only a few minutes walk from the flat. The flat itself makes a great base for a stay in Paris. It's an easy walk into the Marais and very close to the Metro. The flat is cosy and comfortable and makes your stay so much more personal than a hotel. Would recommend it. And the stairs make for a great work-out!

Ducks nest on Rue Beaurepaire is the perfect home from home . An ideal apartment for a family with children who like climbing flights of stairs , a couple on their own ,two or three couples , a group of friends ......for people who love to be in the heart of Paris in a homely spot , this is the place . It is spacious , convivial , has wonderful views and ideally located . We loved our stay and can't wait to go again . No complaints what so ever just very, very fond memories .
