About the Owner

I am a retired Scottish nurse who has lived in Italy for nearly ten years now. I live upstairs from the self catering apartment so am on hand to provide advice and help when guests arrive or at anytime during their stay. I ran a bed and breakfast on the island of Skye before moving to Abruzzo so I have had plenty of experience of making guests feel comfortable and providing an enjoyable and relaxing holiday. I speak Italian so if guests need any help in shopping or eating out I am more than pleased to give them any advice or even as has happened several times taking them to the shopping centre or local village to show them where all the facilities are. My home is open to my guests and they can be assured of a wonderful holiday in Abruzzo.

This beautiful comfortable house ticks all the boxes! It was just like a home from home, with all of the necessary appliances to make cooking easy and enjoyable for a "self catering novice" :) the owner was very helpful friendly and informative without appearing intrusive in any way and we were left to enjoy our stay feeling completely relaxed and comfortable. Can recommend this house 500% :))

Wonderful Setting.

A delightful, very well equipped apartment which actually forms the whole ground floor of a detached 2 storey house. The owner lives above but you each have your own separate entrance. The owner is very friendly whilst not intrusive. Advice is there if you want or need it. The apartment has amazing views of the surrounding mountains and countryside and a lovely garden to enjoy it from. This part of Abruzzo has outstanding scenery and some lovely villages. A car is essential though if you want to get out and about and see it all. All in all an excellent property and definitely recommended.

Location

This is a beautiful and unspoilt area of Italy. It is covered with trees right up to the snow topped mountains and has wonderful safe clean beaches within half an hour of my house. I bought my farmhouse because it has wonderful views of the Gran Sasso mountains and the medieval village of Bisenti. It is half way between the mountains and the sea so guests have the chance to tour the beautiful countryside or spend the day relaxing on the beach. This is an area unspoilt by tourism so anyone looking to appreciate a truly Italian experience would find this place enchanting. My house is surrounded by olive groves and lovely gardens there is private secure parking and a terrace for guests to sunbathe and relax.

Recommended to hire a car to explore the beautiful region's three national parks for walking, photography and painting. 40 mins to Pescara airport. 2 hours to Fiumicino. 2 hours to Ancona airport.

Distances:

1km to nearest small town of medieval interest (birthplace of Pontius Pilate). 30mins to Castelli area of international repute for ceramic production. 40mins to Campo Imperatore, beautiful undisturbed mountain region with wild horses, bison, wolves and bear.

Further Details:

15 mins drive to winery famous for local and international wine making. Local restaurants produce typical regional dishes, overwhelmingly organic, wonderful fruit, vegetables and meat. Fresh pasta made locally. Weekly markets in Bisenti, Teramo, Penne. Medieval towns untouched and largely undiscovered by tourists this is the area for the true Italian experience. The house is within 5 minutes walk of a private outdoor swimming pool with al fresco dining.

The apartment is very large, in fact could easily sleep six, but I prefer to let only to couples so that they have space to relax and enjoy the environment. The French doors open out onto the terrace where they can sunbathe in privacy. other doors open out onto the gardens where guests are encouraged to pick fruit from the trees. There is an enchanting village within a few minutes drive which has all the facilities two supermarkets bank chemist two butchers bakers and a bank with an ATM. There are wonderful local restaurants nearby. All this including breathtaking scenery from an apartment which has been professionally designed makes for a remarkable holiday location.

  • Outside: House is surrounded by lovely gardens olive groves and fields there are no overlooking neighours so the ambiance is quiet restful and private. Full sunshine throughout the day but also areas of shade. there are two patio areas for sitting with tables and umbrellas for the exclusive use of the guests of the apartment. the owner lives upstairs so is on hand for advice and information. Windows have shutters to keep the house cool but it has 1 metre thick walls so is very cool even in the summer. large (25mtrs.) open air swimming pool with fabulous views and outdoor restaurant within 5 minutes walking distance of the house. Utility Room: Ironing board, iron, vacuum cleaner, mop bucket, brushes. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and linen included change once per week or more often on request. Property is cleaned once per week or more often on request. Other: Vaulted ceilings in dining room, large dining table with six chairs, french windows open onto terrace.
