Villa near Calpe, Alicante, Costa Blanca North, Spain - 2 Minutes Walk To Bars And Restaurants

Located just 3km outside Calpe, our villa is a wonderful combination of peace and quiet, without being isolated from all the facilities you need for a successful villa holiday. The villa is very light and airy, with two double bedrooms (both super-king sized beds, 1 en-suite) and one twin room.

The kitchen is modern and equipped with a dishwasher and microwave, as well as the oven, dual fuel hob and fridge/freezer.

The dining area has a large table with 6 chairs, plus a high chair. The lounge area has a flat screen television with Satellite reception, which includes all main terrestrial channels plus many more and a DVD player. The router for the wifi is also in this room.

Outside, the massive 12m x 6m heated and floodlit pool is situated in a south facing terrace featuring three 'palapas' (rush topped sun shades), and ample sun-beds with mattresses. The outside utility room houses a washing machine, as well as a toilet and sink, and miscellaneous 'pool toys', eg lilos, spaghetti floats etc. The outside eating area includes a table and seating for 6, and a built-in BBQ.

My husband, Keith, and I live in a small village in Bedfordshire and for many years thought about buying a place in the sun. Although Keith has always avoided visiting the same place more than once, even he cannot wait for our next visit.

We both come from large families, and several of our siblings have enjoyed holidays there with their young children. We have also taken Keith's parents (aged 78 and 76) and his aunt (88) and they absolutely love the place, especially the pool - even though none of them can swim! (We founded the Calpe Swim School in 2005!!).

Just back from 2 lovely weeks.

The villa is a good size and well equipped. The pool is amazing, and the wee selection of inflatables, which we added to, was great.

The Indian/Nepalese restaurant, Base Camp, round the corner is AMAZING, we visited 4 times LOL and Grizzly's burgers are awesome. It's a wee trek down to the beach front where you can find loads of places to have lunch or dinner and the wee train (4 euro return pp) is great for popping over to the other side of the rock for shopping and eating too.

A day on the beach is recommended (Zumba at 11am) you'll see when you get there hahahaha

I would recommend a car for touring around and supermarket shopping.

On the whole, we enjoyed our stay and may return one day.

Fantastic holiday

This was our 2nd time at Casa Dryllig and the bar had been raised even higher! It was a real home from home. Heather was ultra efficient in the run up to the holiday and with the after care on our return. Also saved us by a prompt call after we had left the villa to inform us that we had left a bag containing passports!! The villa itself is well equipped with everything there you could wish for. The air con system is very good and allowed for immediate cooling off. The highlight for me and my family was the private outside space with large pool which we could light up at night. Many an hour was spent in it - morning noon and night! The villa is well located for Calpe and its restaurants and beaches. It also has 3 fabulous restaurants at the end of the quiet lane. We have never returned to a holiday destination before Casa Dryllig as like to experience new places but when you find a gem like it then it is wonderful to keep returning - which we plan to do again soon. We have tried to make Casa Dryllig the perfect place for a great holiday by imagining what we would like, and wherever possible meeting our own standards. As such, we took great care in choosing the location, so that it was walking distance to the coast, and particularly a selection of places to eat. When we found this property, we put in a much larger than average heated pool, air conditioning and a large terrace. We have recently added British TV and wifi - again going by what we would hope to find on holiday! I am delighted that you seem to love our little place in the sun as much as we do, and I look forward to welcoming you at some point in the future. Home from home!

What a relaxing 2 weeks we spent here! The villa has everything you could possibly need and the pool is amazing! You settle in very quickly which allows you lots of time to relax or explore the wonderful coastline. We hope to make our 3rd visit in the not too distant future! The simplicity of the booking and admin process is a credit to Heather and Keith - many thanks!

This villa is the best we have ever stayed in - by far. Not only is it a nice, clean and bright villa, but the outside area is amazing. There is a very large terrace, and a VERY large pool, which was heated and gorgeous.

PLUS the location was superb, being within walking distance of the beach, and several great places for eating out. The bar at the top of the lane - just a couple of minutes walk away - was a firm favourite with us for lunch.

Heather, the lady who we dealt with was extremely efficient and helpful, and gave us lots of information before we left, in addition to the informative book at the villa, which answered all our questions.

All in all, I would not hesitate to recommend this lovely place to anyone. Enjoy!!!!

From the Owner

We liked the idea of Spain, but wanted to avoid the more commercialised areas. We chose Calpe, a medium sized town on the northern Costa Blanca, which although providing all that you need for a successful holiday - beaches, restaurants, etc, is not too commercialised. When we bought our villa, it was on a completely bare plot, although in a well established neighbourhood, and that enabled us to make the exterior space exactly what we wanted. The "wow" factor of our villa is the extra large heated pool (at 12m long, it is nearly half the length of most leisure centre pools). The location (close to the coast and just a couple of minutes walk to bars and restaurants) was exactly what we werelooking for, and has proved a major attraction for many of our guests.

Special interest holidays:

Mountain Climbing. We have had several climbing parties stay at the villa, who say it is a great base for local mountains.


The coast is 500m from the villa, with the nearest sandy beach being approx 1km. Costa Blanca means "white coast", and the beaches along this stretch are superb blue-flag sandy beaches, which feature life-guards as well as jet-skis, pedalos, climbing frames, etc.


The nearest airport is Alicante, which is approx 50-60 mins drive. Although car hire is not essential, it will make your holiday at Casa Dryllig more enjoyable.


Nearest coastline: 500m.

Nearest sandy beach: 1km.

Nearest bar/restaurants: 100m. Approx 6 bars/restaurants within 15 min walk, with 3 just 2 minutes walk away.

Nearest supermarket: 1.5km. Nearest town (Calpe) 3km.

Further Details:

If you have access to Google Earth, you may be interested in seeing the villa from the sky. If so, the coordinates for the star at the centre of our pool are: N 38 39' 29.56" E 0 04' 32.03" (you can cut/copy and paste these coordinates to find the villa). From this perspective, you can see that the villa is in a lovely established residential area, with the pool being significantly larger than average. You can also see it's location with respect to the coast and the town of Calpe.

Within the villa you will find a comprehensive file of information about the villa, local shops, bars and resaturants, and details of various leisure activities. We encourage all our guests to add their own comments (and new discoveries), giving an unbiased user guide to what to do and where to go.

Calpe is a medium-sized town, which is very tourist friendly, without being too commercialized. The nearest major tourist area is Benidorm (approx 1/2 hour drive), including Terra Mitica theme park, Aqualandia Water Park, Mundomar Sea life Centre, and far too much else to mention! We have a very high proportion of repeat visitors, with over half of those who have ever visited Casa Dryllig booking to come back again. I know I am biased, but this really is a lovely villa in a beautiful part of Spain, and the positive comments that we receive are very reassuring that we are doing everything right!

Pool heating is not included in winter weeks (November - March), but can be provided at a supplement of £125 per week. All other weeks include pool heating when appropriate.

Changeover Day:
Changeover day is Saturday during busy months (early April to end of October), but more flexible outside this time. Please note that we have to insist on arrival at the villa after 4pm, and departure by 10am to allow time for cleaning and laundry change.

Notes on prices:
Prices are for the property per week in UK pounds. Long term lets also available - please contact us for more information. For winter weeks (November to March), please add £125 per week for pool heating, otherwise included where appropriate.

We ask for a 10% deposit to secure the booking, with the balance plus the security deposit (fully refundable assuming no breakages etc) payable 8 weeks prior to the start of the rental period.

We bought our lovely "place in the sun" as a home from home for ourselves - and many others as it turns out! It is only about an hour's drive from Alicante Airport, and although quiet and secluded, is just a short walk or drive from everything that you might need. We decided that our villa had to earn its keep, and have let it since 2004. We pride ourselves on the level of service we provide in terms of information and responsiveness to our guests needs, and virtually all say that they would wish to holiday again at Casa Dryllig, and would recommend it to others. Some of our most regular guests have been every year since 2004. At the villa there is a comprehensive file of information about local restaurants and attractions, and we encourage our guests to leave their own comments.
