Situated in the heart of an ancient listed village, a recently renovated large house. Original tiled floors and exposed beams. Canal du Midi a short stroll. Extensive 'Blue Flag' beaches 10 mins by car. Short drive to the Languedoc Nature Reserve and to many beautiful ancient villages, gorges, underground caverns and places to explore. Small supermarket and shops with restaurants and bars in the village.

I live on the borders of Surrey/Sussex near Gatwick which means I can get to my house quickly. I work in soft furnishings and am self-employed which gives me a degree of flexibility to get away regularly and escape to my 'other home'! I am lucky enough to be able to live my dream of a house in France. I have wonderful French neighbours and friends in the village which I much prefer to a holiday complex. It is so easy to get to so many beautiful and interesting places from there. The beaches are wonderful and extensive and most of all 'Blue Flag' quality. Facilities in the village are very good as well as a selection of restaurants yet there are huge hypermarkets/supermarkets nearby. Lots of activities in the village and at the beaches in the summer - many of which are free.

Why marcia stretch chose Beziers area

I already knew the region and chose the ancient village of Portiragnes. It is so well located for access to many different places. The Blue Star beaches which are safe for children are a short drive away with many activities such as wind surfing and sailing. Book a horse ride along the beach. The Canal du Midi is a short stroll away - hire a boat for day or book Sunday lunch on a boat and watch the world drift by. Aqualand at Agde and Europark at Vias for the children. Inland to spa towns, magnificent gorges for picnics, underground grottos - and many more. Or just sit with a glass of wine and watch the world go by!

What makes this unique

The house is several hundred years old but needed total renovation. With it's high ceilings and large rooms, it is cool in summer yet warm in winter. Ideal for a family or just two people. It has the advantage of every modern facility within the house. A short walk to the shops within the village or a short drive to the nearest hypermarket. Parking is available opposite the house as well as nearby. A good choice of restaurants in the village and at the beach. In the summer, there are many activities - some free - both in the village and at the beach.

Electricity and water costs included - these are metered. Other: Dining area has original Victorian church pews making a corner unit with table and total of 8 chairs en-suite with the kitchen with original marbled floor tiles. Double doors to outside.
