Cottage in Milovaig, Glendale, Isle of Skye, Scotland - Peaceful Location,10 Minute Walk To Milovaig Pier, Views Towards The Outer Hebrides

Waterfall View provides the ideal retreat for relaxing and watching the ever changing vistas and is a super base for touring this mystical and historic island. Take a visit to Dunvegan Castle (the oldest inhabited castle in Scotland and seat of the Clan MacLeod) and a boat trip to see the seals basking on the rocks in Loch Dunvegan.

Boat trips include a sea trip from Portree to see the varied sea and bird life including the sea eagles, glass-bottomed boat trips and a ferry trip to the Outer Isles of Lewis, Harris and Uist. No visit to the Isle of Skye is complete without a trip on the Bella Jane from Elgol to Scotland's most isolated Loch Coruisk.

The island boasts some wonderful restaurants, the world famous ‘Three Chimneys’ has held 3 red rosettes for 9 years and has recently been awarded its first Michelin star. The Kinloch Lodge Hotel has also been awarded its first Michelin star.

About The Owner

Although we do not live in Scotland, we have travelled to the Isle of Skye for many holidays. We have thoroughly enjoyed Skye, so we decided to build a home there.

The Owner purchased this cottage in 2006

Why The Owner chose Scottish Highlands & Islands

We built our home in Glendale because we love the location. The scenery is stunning with views across Loch Pooltiel towards the Western Isles. There are many pleasant walks nearby including a fantastic walk out to Neist Point lighthouse where one can often see whales. There are many interesting days out from the cottage including Dunvegan castle - just 10 miles away.

What makes this cottage unique

The cottage is in a peaceful location set into the hill taking full advantage of the views. From the conservatory one can watch the ever changing vistas. The beach is approximately 2 miles away. A short drive away is the famous 'Three Chimneys' restaurant.

Waterfall View is a wonderful house on a very beautiful part of Skye. We found the house to be clean and very comfortable and well equipped. Spotting the red deer on our daily walks to the small harbour was a highlight for the children. Regular stunning sunsets over the Outer Hebrides added to the feeling of being somewhere very special. Wherever you stay on Skye there will be long drives to visit the points of interest (although Neist Point for the best sunset view ever is really very close). That is something we had not anticipated but which didn't spoil our time at all as the roads were really good and the views constantly amazing however long the journey. Shops are few and far between but the Post Office at Glendale just ten minutes drive away is like a Tardis inside and sells everything - it's amazing! I would recommend this house to a large family group as it is plenty big enough with a large kitchen, two comfortable lounges and a conservatory which gets toastie in the sunshine! The bedrooms are all good sizes too. Thanks for a lovely stay.

Fantastic views and a great place to relax

We had a really great holiday in Waterfall View, it's a lovely place to get away. Walking part of the Cuillin valley was definitely the highlight of the trip with such beautiful scenery and snow capped hills. We were also lucky with mostly calm weather and even got some snow.

The house is well equipped with lots of space. Really great to call it ours for a week. The views down to the lock are stunning and it is a wonderfully quiet place to relax. Would thoroughly recommend to friends and family and we hope to return in the future.

Fantastic View

It was warm and inviting and the views were amazing. The property was clean and well maintained. I would definitely recommend this to friends. We found excellent meals in Dunvegan at the Dunvegan Hotel where we had a lovely breakfast and dinner. We also cooked in and the kitchen was stocked with all that was required to prepare some nice meals.

Everything Promised

The Waterfall View Cottage was everything described in the listing. There are four bedrooms, 2 full baths, two living areas, and an enclosed porch.

The kitchen was well stocked with pans and dishes, and the entire property was clean and well-maintained. They even provided an assortment of videos and books.

The view was wonderful, and you could see to the outer Hebrides from the property. There were plenty of places to walk in the area as well as several good restaurants and shops. Guides with suggestions were provided in the lodge. We especially recommend the Two Churches Walk in Dunvegan.

The owners provided gracious hospitality and excellent customer service throughout the process. We look forward to our next visit to Skye!

Comfortable, spacious cottage with great views

The property was clean, tidy, and extremely spacious, easily accommodating 8 adults. Location is good for hikes, walks, Neist Point, Dunvegan, and the MacLeod's Tables, and short drive to the Three Chimney's and the Old School restaurants, both very good. Would suggest having WIFI installed for visitors who like their iPads, and perhaps a hospitality tray (tea, coffee, milk). Overall, we were very happy with the property,
