Highly recommend, great for small kids

House is clean, bright and spacious, far more so than you would normally get in holiday accommodation. Beautifully decorated and obviously well maintained, it feels like a real family home rather than a holiday rental.

2 * twin bedrooms can be easily configured as doubles. Very spacious master with large en-suite and balcony overlooking the pool area.

Downstairs living area has a large kitchen with modern appliances , utility room, internal courtyard and living room.

Sliding doors from living room to the patio area which is c.5 metres from the kids paddling pool. This was the greatest feature for us with 2 young kids (2.5 & 4) as we could relax on the patio while the kids played in and around the pool while still staying close. It's also great to be able to jump in the pool whenever you want and just take a couple of steps back to your own house.

The town is a 10 minute walk away as is the nearest supermarket (Lidl). There are some steep steps down to the town so depending on the time or tiredness of the kids we often got a Taxi back to the house which costs about 5 euro. We used taxis a lot in Tavira as we didn't hire a car but they are good quality, cheap and reliable.

In short, this house is much bigger, cleaner and better equipped than your average holiday rental and if the complex is quiet it's like having your own private pool at the back door. Could not recommend more highly.

Fabulous House in Terrific Location

We stayed at Kevin & Aoife's beautiful house in Tavira on the eastern Algarve for ten days. This house is absolutely fabulous, spacious and bright, home from home. They have thought of everything right down to all the little things you might forget to bring on holiday like the foreign adapter , hairdryer and the corkscrew !!

The house is very well designed consisting of three well proportioned bedrooms , one double with ensuite and two twin rooms to accommodate six people comfortably, there is also a family bathroom with jacuzzi bath.

Everything is provided including towels and crisp white linen, light duvets and comfortable pillows.

The kitchen is brilliant with all mod cons provided including dishwasher, fridge freezer ,microwave , etc. The utility area has a washing machine and an internal patio area to dry clothes. Secure parking is also provided .

The living area is bright and extremely well furnished with dining room table and two leather couches. A huge bonus for this property is that Kevin & Aoife have provided free wifi,satellite TV and a DVD player with a selection of DVDs. The living room opens onto a patio where you can dine al fresco.There is a large swimming pool and garden area which are extremely well maintained and manicured. There is also a roof top terrace with BBQ and sun loungers and a fabulous view of the town of Tavira. Marguerita is the caretaker / manager of the property and met us on arrival, she gave us all the relevant information and told us to contact her at any stage if we needed her.

Tavira town is within walking distance from the house which has a great selection of restaurants and cafe bars to choose from.

Some of the best beaches in the world according to "The Lonely planet" are located in this area, and you can take it from me, this is correct - Barril Beach , Tavira Beach , Cabanas and more.

We highly recommend this property and look forward to a return visit.

Location

We have alway's holidayed in Portugal every year and we love the climate and the relaxed way of life. We choose Tavira especially for its quaint town, beautiful beaches all within 5 minutes drive of the complex and for the friendly Portuguese people that live there. We love that the town hasn't been commericalised nor has it been over run by tourists ! A perfect place to relax and unwind overlooking the river Galio whilst having a glass of wine !

Activity and Interests

Coast/Beach:

IIha de Tavira is accessed by ferry boat (costing 1.30 euro return). The property is 1km from the centre of Tavira and you can access the ferry boat from here. The island is roughly 4km long and has bars and restaurants with volley ball and football on the sandy beach.

Travel:

Tavira is situated about 35km east of Faro. There are various ways of travelling from the airport such as taxi (costing approx 30 euros), train or bus. Alternatively ther are several car rental companies at the airport with very competitive rates.

Distances:

The historic town of Tavira is a 5-10 mins walk from the property with a range of bars and restaurants as well as lots of interesting places to visit. The Spanish border is only 20-25 mins drive to the East from the property with Faro, Albufeira and Vilamoura less than 30 mins drive to the West. There are several unspoilt villages within 10 mins drive.

Further Details:

Tavira has a excellent array of shops and restaurants, and a fresh daily market for vegetables fruit and fish. Tavira can be explored by a miniature train or by horse and carriage.

There are also many mini supermarkets to get usual supplies.

Changeover Day:
The changeover days are flexible, but during summer months its is more likely to be on a Saturday. It would be necessary to vacate the house by 11am on the day of departure in the high season to facilitate cleaning.
