Villa in St Jean de La Blaquiere, 6km east of Lodeve, Herault, Languedoc - Very Quiet Location on Edge of Pretty Village, 35 Mins to Mediterranean Beaches

Very spacious and sunny villa with pool, just 25 minutes north west from Montpellier medieval city centre and 30 minutes from the beaches. The house is located in a very quiet and picturesque village called St Jean De La Blaquiere, located approx. 6km from local amenities in Lodeve and A75. An excellent large supermarket is 4km away, easily accessed. The property is surrounded by a small garden mainly to the rear with exquisite views of old olive trees and vineyards with a south facing patio/decking area and Solar heated swimming pool. The Villa is large open plan & spacious to a high specification. All areas have quiet air conditioning that automatically lowers fan speed near set temp. There is parking for 4 cars by the side of the villa and electric Security gates to keep property secure. The Villa is set back off the road on the outskirts of the quiet village (like a hamlet), yet within walking distance to boulangerie, cafe, wine tasting (degustation) and tennis court. It is conveniently located 35 minutes drive from Bezier airport or 45 minutes from Montpellier. The property is in an area of outstanding natural beauty, very close to Lac de Salagou, St Guilhem Le Desert, St Saturnin (Famous book ‘Virgil’s Vineyard) and Cirque de Navacelle. About the Owner

Hi, I quite like to travel and have been searching for many years to find the right location to build a property. I had the opportunity to visit Croatia & Portugal and then the Languedoc and was blown away by the beauty. I grew up in California as a child and missed that climate in the U.K. I really enjoy this part of France as the weather reminds me of my childhood, yet has all the cultural elements that makes life interesting as an adult. I have always been keen on going on adventures and this project was no exception. My father suffered a heart attack and changed my perspective on what was important in life and we both spent time together visiting the building project and exploring the area, which has made a huge difference. I'm semi-retired now and looking forward to spending more time at the villa. The area is so unspoilt with reduced tourism compared with Provence, with so many interesting places to visit near by. Once visited it will bring you back time & time again. I hope you have the opportunity to visit this lovely place :)

The family and I had a wonderful holiday in September. This was our third visit to this villa and each time we enjoy it even more! We decided to take our sons with children who had a fantastic time. The property has everything a family could wish for, very spacious & comfortable, well equipted kitchen, wifi & English Freeview. The surrounding countryside is amazing, with so many interesting places to visit, well worth visiting St Guilhem le Desert not far but quite something. Mountains galore and coast not far at all. We loved it so much we have booked it again, we used to have a place in France and great that this place feels like a home abroad :)

Perfect for us!

  • 5 of 5

In addition to the fact that the weather was absolutely perfect, the villa and location were perfect too!

If you want peace and quiet, lazy days around the pool, the gentle swoop of raptors overhead, delicious evening BBQs and warm, starry nights, then this villa will be perfect. Excellent supermarkets at Lodeve or Clermont l'H for everything you want, including fantastic fresh fish. Markets in both places for the most delicious fruits and cheeses. A village bakery for baguettes and superb pastries ... and a coffee or a beer before the short walk back to the villa.

The villa itself was spotless, spacious, and had everything we needed for our holiday ... including a beer/wine fridge in addition to the massive fridge/freezer. Pool and terrace are great for sunshine and a cooling dip.

There was one minor point which I am sure will be sorted before our next visit - the patio table has no hole for the parasol, so we had to cobble together a temporary arrangement to avoid the blistering sunshine when taking our leisurely (and liquid) lunches.

Excellent villa, thoroughly recommended. Owners provided plenty of advice and information on booking, prior to the holiday, and in a folder on arrival.

Owner's Response: Many thanks for your comprehensive review, I'll make sure the patio table just purchased has a hole drilled for the parasol, overlooked before we came back to the U.K. Hope to see you again, kind regards Paul

Some effort and it will be perfect...

  • 2 of 5

The villa is very well equipped, well organized and very pleasant, some a little small pans for all of our tribe but nothing serious !! the situation near Lake Salagou in a beautiful environment is very good. However, two points are to improve urgently: first point improvement in external comfort by creating a well-equipped terrace to leave the house and enjoy the scenery and second point compliance by setting the pool up a warning system that we found unfit to function in the garage ... 4 young children were with us and we had to organize a guard tour to avoid any problem ...

Owner's Response: Many thanks for your review, can you confirm what you expect from a well equipped terrace? I've tried several pool alarms, but they fail when the wind increases causing false alarms & nuisance to the neighbours , a new one has just come on to the market, I'll evaluate and install. I appreciate your feedback, regards Paul

peaceful and relaxing

  • 4 of 5

A lovely modern, clean, spacious, well furnished and comfortable home. We enjoyed our 3 week stay, the pool was ideal for the grandchildren. The kitchen was very well equipped, which we enjoyed as we like going out to the local [excellent] markets and cooking our purchases! The file of local attractions, restaurants was very welcome. The local contact was very helpful with any questions we had.

Gorgeous villa and setting!

  • 5 of 5

A beautiful well equiped villa set in a stunning location with fantastic views.

The villa is spacious with a really lovely feel about it. The kitchen is well equipted. Everything needed for a comforable stay is provided. The villa and pool area were clean and tidy on our arrival. Its quiet village setting is perfect for a relaxing holiday yet there is plenty of places to visit and things to do, all not that far away. This was our second visit to this villa and we would definitely recommend it! :)

Location

From the Owner

Back in 2005 I met up with a friendly lady called Sally who lived locally in lodeve. I was on the quest to find the best location in the area to build a property with the most spectacular views, a task too great you might say. Well, I looked in Portugal, Croatia and last of all the Languedoc in France and have not regretted it one bit! It was more work than expected and had the usual problems with builders, but eventually found a little place in heaven. The property is in a fab unspoilt location with far reaching views, the property has everything you would expect from a high end rental and Jacqui the house keeper is very helpful. I now have more time spend there, where the climate is great and the relaxed pace of life helps you recharge your batteries. In the mean time let me know if you would like to go in search of what I still think is the most lovely part of this beautiful country.
