Guestbook comments from the owner

'We think the house is superb - nice and cool when it needs to be. We like the clean, straightforward décor and think the house layout, whilst unusual, provides an ideal holiday home. The facilities are excellent and location very good with an unexpected level of privacy'.

'We have had a lovely week with weather exceptionally hot for September. We love this countryside with rolling hills and spectacular views. Good food and a very comfortable house. The Green Woodpecker came most days into the garden'.

'We have enjoyed a wonderful two weeks in this truly peaceful and restful setting, house and pool fabulous, the owners could not do enough for us, lovely neighbours, many thanks for everything'.

'Thank you very much indeed for letting us stay in your villa, we have travelled extensively throughout France and without doubt your villa is by far the best, the location, the facilities, the ambiance all come together to make a truly memorable holiday'.

Idyllic!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this Villa early to mid-July 2016. It was a lovely Villa – very clean and well maintained. It was also extremely well equipped, and the swimming pool was a very good size. There is also a pretty garden.

The neighbourhood in which the Villa is situated is quiet, and it is easy to find the Villa from the road as it is not too far. Mauvezin is within easy walking distance and has a good variety of shops. We tried both Bakeries, which are very good, with friendly, patient, staff!

The surrounding area is very rural and pretty and, as it was July, there were lots of lovely sunflower fields in full bloom.

Also, we had very good communication with Helen the owner.

A wonderful find

  • 5 of 5

We have had a wonderful stay and highly recommend this villa and location to anyone who wants to relax and recharge. The villa itself is exceptional and our boys thoroughly enjoyed having their own double bedrooms for the week. The villa had everything you could possibly want, with the main living room the real heart of the villa, with comfortable sofas, a super dining table and a well appointed kitchen. The outside area matched the internal, with a lovely verandah, extensive gardens and the most amazing pool area with sun loungers and umbrellas.

We were looking for a villa in which we could simply relax and spend time together as a family, whilst also being big enough so that everyone had their own space. We found it here!

The owners were exceptionally attentive and communication excellent. Everything went swimmingly whilst we were there.

The town was an easy walk away which was good. Auch was a good day out, but the villa was so nice, we only really ventured out for one day!

I would thoroughly recommend this villa for families of all ages. Our teenage sons simply loved the pool, reading on the verandah and having their own space.

A wonderful holiday.

Fabulous

  • 5 of 5

We have enjoyed yet another holiday at this fabulous villa. It has everything you could possibly need and more. The pool is superb to drop into on hot summer days and the strategically placed chairs in the garden where you can watch the amazing sunsets with a G & T with some tasty olives before lighting the BBQ or visiting one of the excellent local restaurants which are all within walking distance. There are lots of markets and places to visit in the surrounding villages with stunning scenery on route and the Mauvesin market is a must with some very interesting characters. The owners are very helpful and there's lots of information at the villa of what's around the area and what's on etc. We will be back in the very near future.

Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

Just returned from a wonderfully relaxing week with partner, 13yr old and 18yr old. The bungalow itself is superbly presented and the main room gorgeously cool (it was nearly 40 degrees for the week we stayed!). The bedrooms all of equal size and similarly well appointed, so no teenage arguments and soooo much storage! Lovely to find such a well equipped kitchen - really just what I've got at home. Lots of garden/pool toys as well and great washing/drying facilities. Bathrooms v high spec and spotless. Very refreshing to have English owners with English TV and instructions.... No guesswork required. Also would seem the owners have the same taste to us in books - a good library to choose from, although we had read most of them ourselves! Also, playing cards and games on offer. Outside, seating/dining area and wonderful pool with salt water (so refreshing compared to chlorine). All together just what was required.

With regard to the area, it is rural France, lots of historical sites and markets....not ideal with young kids, but this was the first holiday we have got away without having to supply endless expensive days out at zoos, parks, fairs etc. so a really refreshing change for us. Mauvezin is v pretty and equipped with all you need for your stay, without the need to drive. Mini supermarket, boulangeries and small shops. Monday market is super, but don't leave it too late to get there. We were lucky enough to be there for a festival so fireworks and activity in the Halle. Also a small disco in the Halle on the Friday evening. Mauvezin is also blessed with about 5 restaurants/bars with food. Would definitely advise for you to have some rudimentary French as the English is very hit and miss, although everyone is lovely with it!

With regard to the surrounding countryside and villages, you will find no prettier place than this region. Buildings range from the quaint and rustic to grand and elegant;the landscapes, with their sunflowers are vibrant and their size is awe inspiring - you forget how cramped we are in the UK, we were driving for miles without seeing anyone in the Gers.

Helen, the owner, is mightily efficient, sensible and responsive to all daft (and not so daft) queries.

Basically, if you are looking to get away from it all, relax and see some proper rural France, you cannot go wrong with this one!

Owner's Response: So glad you enjoyed a relaxing holiday in Mauvezin. The Gers is a stunning unspoilt area of France and well worth exploring. You cannot fail to fall in easily to the lifestyle with the local food markets and summer festivals. Most guests enjoy the house, pool, bbq's and the lovely sunsets and return from their holiday with the feeling that they have experienced a totally enjoyable laid back holiday. Thanks for sharing your detailed review for other guests to share.

PERFECT HOLIDAY

  • 5 of 5

We have just spent two weeks in this perfect holiday home. Well appointed, spacious, spotlessly clean, with a beautiful garden and pool. We were very lucky with the weather and ate every single meal outside on the terrace. The neighbours Daniel, Stephanie and Sara, with their gorgeous little dog Ipso, made us so welcome. Lovely small town, have to visit Café du Printemps even if just for a coffee each morning. Excellent celebration meal at La Grande Ourse, a real treat. The area is delightful and we enjoyed watching the sunflower harvest. We will definitely return.
