Apartments in Spello, Perugia, Umbria - Casa Spello
Over 500 years old, Casa Spello is a newly renovated medieval townhouse located in the historic center of Spello, a hillside village with rich history pre-dating Roman times. The property, nestled within the ancient city walls, boasts one of the most panoramic vistas in all of Spello; on a clear day, you can see the church towers of Assisi, the distant Perugia, Montefalco, Foligno and, of course, the rolling hills covered in olive groves and vineyards which surround Spello. Our large garden/orchard, surrounded by an 1800 year old Roman wall, is an ideal setting for al fresco dining or sipping coffee before the day's adventures. Every unit is elegantly furnished with antique-style and rustic furnishings, and each has a fully equipped kitchen for your cooking pleasure. Some of the units have fireplaces or woodstoves, and all are filled with incredible Italian decorations and fixtures such as handblown glass and handpainted tiles. Units sleep two to six people and can be combined.

About the Owner
My husband Dan and I fell in love with this 500 year old medieval property in Spello, Umbria because of its breathtaking panoramic views. We incorporated modern amenities without disturbing the medieval structure. We are world travelers and fell under the spell of Spello. Nicknamed the 'Jewel of Umbria' Spello sits on a hill top. It is enchanting and boasts some of the best food in Umbria.

From the Owner
“The property is very centrally located within the historic center with easy access to restaurants, self catering, markets and the train station. We give recommendations to our guests who often become our friends. We travel a lot but we always love to go back to Spello, get lost in the maze of alleyways full of flowers and come back to our garden to watch the sunset and enjoy dinner alfresco.”

From the Owner
“This area has a lot to offer both to the adventurous and the timid traveler. We enjoy relaxation, going to local concerts, numerous medieval renaissance food and wine festivals which take place several times a year, walking or hiking on Mount Subasio, visiting the nearby villages and eating at local restaurants. Spello is home to the 'Tartufo' truffle mushrooms as well as great Sagrantino Wine and culinary Umbrian cuisine. Walking through Spello's alleyways and smelling the beautiful flowers is a treat in itself!”
