About The Owner

We have been resident in France since the beginning of 2002. We are a very relaxed, easy going couple, aiming to provide the ideal atmosphere for both families and couples. We live "on site" and are bilingual, Mark translates and teaches French, so we are always available for any help or guidance that may be needed.

The Owner purchased this farmhouse in 2002

Why The Owner chose Deux-Sevres

We chose the area for it's convenient location. There are easy journeys to : the Chateaux of The Loire Valley, the beaches/ports and islands of La Rochelle, The Marais Poitevin (also known as Green Venice) and Cognac.

What makes this farmhouse unique

We enjoy the peace and quiet of the location whilst still being close to all amenities, ie shops, restaurants, cafes, etc. We love the friendliness of our French neighbours and tending daily to our animals.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We have all thoroughly enjoyed our holiday here- it was made all the better by the hospitality and the surroundings. You have been wonderful hosts and the advice you have given us on places to visit has enabled us to get the most out of our holiday. The animals were an added bonus, although I sense that we will have an upset daughter when we depart tomorrow morning. Thank you once again. James, Britta and family Aug 2010

Mark and Anita made our stay brilliant with all the hospitality-good company, great food and local knowledge. Really enjoyed the "Indian Stick game". Shame our garden isn't big enough for us to have it at home

The Wilsons August 2011

A great week spent both relaxing by the pool and "out and about" visiting La Rochelle, Saumur, Ile de Re and the kid's favourite- Zip wiring at Chantemerie

Many thanks for your great hospitality

Fabulous!

  • 5 of 5

Immaculate, well equipped gite with welcoming and knowledgeable owners. Superb first night meal, food shopping done for our arrival and comfy beds were all much appreciated. Mark and Anita live on site but were not at all intrusive. Their knowledge and kindness made this a fabulous, relaxing holiday for all of us.

Relax, relax, relax....

  • 4 of 5

We have just spent a lovely weeks holiday here. Mark and Anita are everything you could want from hosts. They helped us with local knowledge and recommendations with regard to where to go etc. There was a complimentary welcome pack and a lovely first night dinner that we had pre booked....The nearby town of Parthenay had good restaurants where our 12 year old tried frog legs and loved them!!! Visiting the monkeys, zip wiring and La Rochelle were the highlights for us together with plenty of peaceful nights sleep! This was my first visit to France and it holds good memories, I can't wait to go back!

buenas vacaciones

  • 4 of 5

Owner's Response: The sofa bed was purchased in June 2017. We appreciate that sofa beds, in general, are not always as comfortable as normal beds and when possible we like to try to offer alternatives, ie, our B&B room, which can be connected to the larger gite, or the bed in our smaller gite, which can also be connected to the larger gite. Sadly, on this occasion this wasn't possible as the B&B room was being redecorated and the small gite was booked. We always provide toilet paper for the arrival of our guests but due to the fact that this is a self catering holiday we feel that it is for the guests to purchase any further toilet paper that may be needed. It does state in our advert, under "notes" that although we provide bedding we do not provide towels. Should guests forget towels or arrive at our gite whilst travelling and therefore may not have towels with them, we are always more than happy to accommodate.

Further Details:

The medieval town of Parthenay is the nearest large town to La Metairie. The town retains much of its old ramparts, a lot of which you can walk, and the medieval quarter is very popular with locals and tourists alike.

There is a wide variety of good restaurants, providing quality food for all the family.

There is a full range of shops and supermarkets, and local produce can be found at the regular market on Wednesday mornings.
