Superb Town House in the Traditional Village of Maureillas

Updated: 05-Oct-2016
3 bedrooms in well-equipped house within walk of local shops, mountain views

Our village house in Rue de l'Eglise is perfectly positioned on the edge of the traditional village of Maureillas. It has sweeping views across fields and vineyards to the Pyrenees and is just around the corner from various bakeries, grocery shops, bars and restaurants. Maureillas is ideally situated to take advantage of all this exquisite region has to offer. Walking and hiking, mountain biking, swimming (either at the nearby lake or at the beautiful sandy beaches 30 minutes drive away), tennis, water sports, skiing and many other attractions are within easy reach. The nearest town, Ceret, boasts a renowned museum of modern art, a lively Saturday market and street festivals all year round. It is a mere 5km to the Spanish border, with Girona and Barcelona easily accessible by car or train. Local ski resorts are just 90 minutes away. Perfect for summer stays, and is also lovely in the autumn and winter.

About the Owner

Hi, I'm Penny and I live in the village of Maureillas, in the Languedoc Rousillon region of France, with my husband Dominic and 2 children. We moved permanently from the UK 9 years ago to follow our dream of living and working in this beautiful, unspoilt area of France.

We feel very privileged to live in this gorgeous area, and love to show our guests what a great place it is to visit.

From the Owner

This area of France is in a wonderful position between the mountains and the sea. It has over 300 days of sunshine per year, and still remains relatively unspoilt by tourism or over-development. It is easy to visit from the UK by air or train, and is also very close to Spain. We also love the fact that the traditional way of life remains unchanged - people have time to stop and chat, the weekly markets are full of local produce, and the seasons and festivals are recognised and celebrated. Maureillas has a reputation locally for being the friendliest village in the region! We have certainly found the welcome here to be very warm, and we hope to extend it to our future guests.
