About the property



1. "THE GRAND' is a huge 5 bedroom maisonette which comprises the top part of this character house.and sleeps 12 guests (or up to 14 with prior approval). It has its own separate external front door.

2. "HIDEAWAY" is a large 3 bedroomed ground floor apartment which sleeps up to 8 guests and has its own separate external front door. There is a secluded Japanese styled garden at the rear of the house which is perfect for alfresco dining or BBQ.


Both are very well maintained, comfortable and decorated to a high contemporary standard. Equipment provided is comprehensive and includes, free WIFI, American Style fridge/freezers,microwaves,washing machines, dishwashers large flat screen televisions, with Freeview, DVD players.

The property is perfectly situated a couple of minutes walk to the beautiful clean blue flag status sandy beaches which stretch for 9 miles. Southbourne high street, with its comprehensive selection of shops, supermarkets, restaurants, pubs, cafes, takeaways, is a few minutes walk from the property.

Activities such as surfing, wind surfing, kite surfing, canoeing, sailing, fishing, paint ball, bowling, horse riding, gliding are available locally. Easy access to the New Forest, Isle of Wight, Poole. Sandbanks, Weymouth, Salisbury, Christchurch. Romsey, Corfe Castle, Brownsea Island and Jurassic Coast, to name but a few. Monkey World, Weymouth Sealife Centre , Bournemouth Oceanarium, Beaulieu Car Museum National Trust properties are also close by.

I love the property as it is has so much character with large, comfortable, rooms, set in a beautiful tree lined avenue, with 9 miles of beautiful, uninterrupted clean sandy beaches at the end of the road. I love Bournemouth's micro climate - the weather tends to be warmer than the rest of England - and its access to so many lovely and historic places.

The Grand is very conveniently situated for access to Bournemouth High Street, Poole, Weymouth, The New forest, Isle of Wight, Lymington, Winchester, the famous Brownsea Island. Poultons Park, 7 miles of beautiful sandy beaches,fabulous restaurants, beach bars.

Pokesdown Train station is within walking distance of the property. Bournemouth Train Station is approximately 10 minute drive away. Buses leave from the high street (a couple of minutes walk from the property) to many destinations. Bournemouth International Airport only 15 minutes drive from property.

Booking Notes:
Deposit of 25% required to secure a booking. Payments can be made by internet bank transfer or direft payment into bank account at a bank. No credit or debit card facilities. Balance 6 weeks prior to arrival date.Whole balance required immediately for late bookings. £300 security deposit against damage and breakages required. £30 charged per dog per week. LINEN AND TOWELS ARE NOT INCLUDED in the booking price.(ie sheets,pillow cases,duvet covers) and towels. Linen & towels can be arranged for £8 per guest or £5 for just linen. .

Changeover Day:
Changeover day is Friday. Guests are requested to vacate the property by 10am. Arrival time for new guests 4pm. onwards. Guests may drop off their belongings earlier by arrangement.

Notes on prices:
Prices are for the property per week in UK Pounds. A deposit of 25% of the total cost is required to secure a booking. The balance is due 6 weeks prior to arrival date. Refundable security deposit of £300 against damage and breakages is required. £30 charged per dog per week. Linen (sheets, duvet covers, pillow cases) and towels not included in price but can be arranged for £8 per person per week.for linen and towels or £5 per person for just linen. The beds are made up for this price.

Excellent accommodation, in brilliant location.

My large family group stayed at the property very recently, and we were all delighted with how attractive and comfortable it was. It is tastefully furnished and decorated, in contemporary style, and the standard of cleanliness, and the facilities, are first rate. The location is brilliant, being close to numerous amenities, attractions, beauty spots, and beaches. The clifftops and beach, and local shops, are just a short walk away. Whatever your age, or interests, there is something nearby. The proprietor was extremely helpful, easy to deal with, and efficient, and was keen to make your stay troublefree. We plan to stay again for future family get-togethers.

Perfect family holiday stunningly stylish & modern

We have just returned from a fabulous week's holiday. The apartment is first class, modern, spotlessly clean and with everything you could possibly need- including buckets of space for the children, very child friendly too... My wife was in love with the kitchen... Large and very stylish!

lovely walk down to the beach- really just a stones throw away...also property so close to the highstreet, shops, pubs & cafes. The centre of Bournemouth is within reach as well, though we chose to make the journey by car to castlepoint a great shopping centre only 5 minutes away.

There was a zen garden area at the apartment, perfect for breakfast or BBQs or simply relaxing and letting the world go by, with privacy and a relaxing feel.

Suzie was the perfect host, very genuine and in regular touch with us throughout to answer any questions and ensuring we all had a good time.

All in all, a perfect holiday and we would definitely come back again and highly recommend to anyone. We have already sent a request to book again the following summer!

Beautiful House, Great Location

We stayed at The Grand over the Easter holiday and had a wonderful time. The house is beautiful and the location fantastic and is even better than the photos, Southbourne Beach and the Cliff Tops are literally at the end of the road, and the main shops of Southbourne are at the other end of the road!

The Owner was very friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. We would definitely stay again and recommend to friends.

Great location, great apartment, great weekend! The apartment is just as is shown in the photos - in fact better (which is not always the case when booking online..)!! The cliffs and the beach are literally at the end of the road and Bournemouth is not much further in a taxi (like 10 mins). I would definitely say this is a luxury apartment and had everything we needed for a fun relaxing birthday weekend away. I would totally recommend this to anyone.

Poorly maintained. Unhelpful owner

We were looking forward to a quiet comfortable stay in this ground floor flat. We had been told to bring our own bedlinen and towels but that the owner would provide a 6'6" sheet for the large bed. When we arrived we immediately saw that the sheet left for us had been used by the previous occupants and not changed. We immediately phoned the contact number of the owner who was abroad in Spain and who stated she could not believe such a thing had occurred implying somehow we were making it up. Her daughter was the emergency contact in Bournemouth. We were reminded on several occasions she was a nurse and does a very important job, and would not be on hand to help us, and therefore there was no one to help us. The owner suggested that we wash the sheet ourselves and the daughter would tumble dry it for us. This we duly did and looked around the rest of the flat. The place was not cleaned properly with dirty corners in rooms and a large cobweb near the floor in a corner of the main bedroom. As the nights were getting colder we turned on the heating and found that the radiator would not get hot in the room my two youngest daughters would have to use. This single glazed room in an old flat was too cold for anyone to sleep in. We had specifically chosen this as it is a 3 bed flat. This was all within the first hour of arrival. Turning on the lighting it was immediately evident that at least 10 light bulbs were blown. The owner suggested we replace them for her when we told her. We decided to try and move in to a hotel but could not find a suitable one at short notice as all the nice ones were booked up on the Friday night, so we decided to tough it out and not stay the full 4 days but leave a soon as we had seen all the family members we were down to see. There were numerous other niggles with the flat, all due to poor maintenance and attention to detail. The toilet roll holder was missing in the shower room, we slipped numerous times on a loose wooden board in the kitchen, a loose door bar cut my daughter's toe and a number of other problems too numerous to mention. By 9.30 on the first night with no reply from the daughter I had to iron the sheet dry with an iron with the temperature control missing. Just after I completed this the daughter rang the bell unannounced at 10.00pm. We have asked the owner to refund one night we didn't stay but her response has been to accuse us of fabricating the photos we took and threaten to sue us. We could not recommend it less
