Apartment in Burgau, Western Algarve, Portugal - Peaceful Location With Views Over The Village And Sea

This luxurious well equipped, first floor apartment is a development on the edge of the Costa Vicentina National Park. The apartment has views of the village and the sea from both balcony and large private roof terrace. The village location is ideally situated for exploring the beautiful Western Algarve, renowned for its stunning beaches and excellent golf courses. The onsite facilities include a communal swimming pool with children's pool, showers & toilet facilities. The village is a 5 minute walk away with shops, and a good selection of bars and restaurants. The superb unspoilt beach is a 10 minute walk away. Golfers are catered for with Boavista and Parque da Floresta 10 minutes drive away. Tennis courts are 5 minutes away and horse riding 10 minutes. The historic town of Lagos is a 10 minute drive away. Cliff top walks can also be made in both directions East & West.

“Myself husband and 2 boys (8 & 4) stayed at this apartment for one week in August and would go back in a heartbeat! The apartment itself is very well furnished, well equipped and is really beautiful and a credit to its owners. I was so pleased I emailed them the first night to say how thrilled we were with the accommodation. The roof terrace is huge and had stunning views and everything you need (there is even a fridge for beers or food up there so you don’t have to go down to the main apartment again). The main balcony which runs the full length of the apartment (access from kitchen, living and both bedrooms) is great, again beautiful view and great quality outdoor table and chairs. Inside it is very well decorated, very clean and well maintained. All amenities of Burgau are within a 10minute walk including the most stunning beach! There is plenty of choice for food and a few shops with holiday items also. We also used the communal pool which came with the apartment (you pay a 30 euro holding fee for an access card which is returned when you leave the card back). My kids loved the pool and made a few friends to play with also. There was also a grass area close to the pool where we were able to play some football etc. There is a café beside the pool for drinks and lollies etc also.

All in all we had a lovely holidays and would definitely recommend this apartment!”

Coast/Beach:

The superb beach at Burgau is just a 5-10 minute walk from the apartment, and has its own beach bar serving drinks and day time snacks. There are many other local beaches just a short walk and drive away. Wind surfing is also available locally, along with boat trips around the coast.

Travel:

Burgau is about 1 hours drive from Faro airport. Car hire is available, or there are local buses or taxis. Transfers can be arranged, please enquire.

Distances:

Lagos is a 15 minute drive away. Cape St Vincent, the furthest point West is about 40 minute drive. Albufeira about 40 minutes. The Monchique Mountains are around one hour's drive away. There is a bus stop in the village with regular services to Lagos, Luz, Salema etc.

Further Details:

Burgau has a very good selection of excellent bars and restaurants all within walking distance of the apartment. There are 2 small supermarkets for provisions, wine & spirits shop, small gift shops and a cash machine in the village. The small Burgau Sports Centre on the edge of the village has tennis courts, squash courts, coaching is available, keep fit classes are also run. Horse riding is available within 10 minutes drive.

Lagos marina has numerous boat trips for dolphin watching, fishing, general charter, picnic boats for visiting the caves and grottos down the coast. For children, the beach is a 5 to 10 minute walk, other attractions are Zoomarine, about 40 minutes drive, and water parks. For the more adventurous, jeep safaris, mountain biking, climbing, quad biking, land yachting, scuba diving, variety of water sports. All available within a very short driving distance of the apartment. Opened in November 2008 is the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve, F1 standard motor racing circuit near Portimao, 35 minutes drive. Regular race meetings are held throughout the year, with a WSB round now being a yearly event.

Outside: The large balcony has a built in BBQ, outdoor furniture with table and chairs to seat 6, views over the village and it also has a sea view. The extensive private roof terrace offers panoramic views of the sea and the village. Sun loungers, parasols and table with with 4 chairs are provided. The private roof terrace which is accessed via the private storeroom, has superb sea and village views and is excellent for sun bathing and relaxing. There is also a selection of outdoor games and beach games. Guests have exclusive access to the Burgau Club which houses the communal pool, toilet & shower facilities. Utility Room: The tumble dryer is located in the upstairs private store room, along with a further fridge when using the private roof terrace. For winter months duvets are also stored securely in this room for client use. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: A maid service is provided for mid and end of week cleaning and towel changes. Additionally, bed linen is also changed for stays of longer than a week. Towels and linen are provided and should not be taken to the beach. Beach towels available to hire. Other: Extensive private roof terrace with sun loungers/parasols and panoramic sea/village views. Large balcony with sea/village views running the entire length of the apartment accessible from all rooms. Balcony has built in BBQ, outdoor furniture and 6 chairs.

Loved our stay

Really enjoyed our stay at the apartment, especially after travelling 10 nights in Italy and a 2 week driving tour of Portugal (first time in Portugal). It was a great reward to be able to "have a home base" for 6 nites after living out of suitcases! The apartment was very clean and beautifully furnished and we loved the terrace and roof deck for relaxing with a glass of wine (or 2) and tapas after a day of exploring. The apt had absolutely everything we needed to be comfortable and it was nice to be able to do laundry too. The bed was very comfortable. We were a close walk into town and restaurants. All were good that we went to, it was also nice to use the built in grill to eat at home. The bathrooms were very modern with good waterpressure and lots of hotwater. The "welcome pack" of butter, buns, meats, cheese and milk were much appreciated for a reasonable cost. Wifi was strong. Overall a perfect place to stay and we would definately stay again if/when we come back to the Algarve. Ian was also great to deal with and answered any questions promptly. Excellent. Quality through and through.

A very cosy apartment; impossible to find fault............but wait.............I just remembered - the ledge on the side of the bath is too narrow to support a wine glass!

We certainly plan to return!

Fabulous apartment

Have been going to Burgau for many years and stayed in various different apartments, this has been one of the best. Communication and booking process with Ian was simple and straightforward. The apartment is very well equipped with everything you could possibly need and good quality furnishings. Beautiful views over the village from the balcony and all rooms, a lovely sunny place to sit for breakfast. The private roof terrace is an added bonus for afternoon sun and evening drinks. Loved the built in barbeque on the balcony for grilling fresh fish for our supper. Hope to book again soon.

Excellent apartment, love Burgau

Excellent apartment. It was very well equipped. It was great to have a firm bed instead of the normal soft ones usually found in holiday rents. We appreciated the towel change mid week. The gym at the pool complex was closed ( not that we intended to use it) and initial impressions of the pool area was it was slightly jaded compared to when we went to Burgau 4 years ago, but the water was changed in the pool at least once while we were there. Restaurants are great ( but we had to book ahead). We would definitely return.

One of the best we have ever stayed in

One of the best we have ever stayed in. Perfect location,excellent apartment full of quality furnishings plus lots of little extras - liquid soap in bathrooms,large fluffy towels and loads of dishes and containers etc in kitchen make this feel like it's someone's home not just a rental .

The pool area with its excellent snack bar is only 2 minutes walk away even with two small children and the associated blow up dolphin ,bags etc.

The centre of the village/ restaurants is only 5 minutes walk away .Sun Terrace is a great bonus ,and all the blow up toys/ beds for the beach were a joy for our children.

We are still missing having breakfast on the balcony with its unrestricted view to the village over open fields.

We will definitely be back next year both to the apartment and Burgau .

Quality Apartment

We looked at various apartments and liked the description and photos for this place. Ian replied to our initial enquiry and after phoning to discuss details we made our booking. The one thing we thought odd was that there were not many reviews, now this could just be that people have not given feedback good or bad, so we thought we would write our review that may help others

We arrived at faro airport and followed instructions to be met at the apartment. We did have a sat nav but the driving directions given were very good and so met Sean at the address with the keys about an hour and half later

The apartment is of excellent quality as shown on the website photos and we were very impressed. Sean showed us the basics and answered any questions and told us to call if any problems. We ordered the optional shopping pack which is fine for the basics needed when you arrive

This apartment looks over the village and the sea and sitting out on the balcony is very peaceful- here the shade kicks in around 2pm

There is also a rooftop area for sunbathing which is private and exclusive to the apartment (some other blocks are shared), better view of the sea from here and good if you want to sunbath in the afternoon. Our advice is to compare what you are actually getting when looking at the other apartment blocks as they may be a bit cheaper to book but the views and private rooftop may not be the same

The whole apartment block is very clean and furnished like new. Showers are great, quality towels and bed linen provided which are changed each week. Apartment is also cleaned each week. Tv and good selection of dvds and books are provided for your choice, but if the weather is kind you wont be needing any of them! Good WiFi connection which was great for us to check online for maps and information for beaches we wanted to visit. There is also a good selection of tourist guide books in the apartment which helped us find a couple of beaches we may not have spotted

The place is very homely and we felt very relaxed here.

Parking is available in the basement but most people tend to park on the quiet street outside the block

Hope to be back there soon to explore the area further as the beaches are fabulous

Changeover Day:
Saturday preferred, but negotiable. Normal arrival time after 2pm, normal departure time 10am. Other times may be negotiable depending on adjacent bookings.

Notes on prices:
Prices are for the property per week in UK Pounds for an occupancy of 4 people. For additional guests requiring the fold out bed an extra £40 per stay will be charged to cover additional cleaning and laundry costs.

Arrivals after 9pm will attract a surcharge of £40, this is levied on us by the Management Company as an out of hours charge for the Meet & Greet service.

Owner's Cancellation Policy

  • 50% refund for cancellations more than 14 days before check-in date.
  • 100% refund for cancellations more than 30 days before check-in date.
