Sept 2010 Mrs E wrote:

We had a fabulous holiday- the house was great and met all our expectations and more besides- we loved the village and spent many an afternoon at Roquebrun enjoying the river and sun. We had wall to wall glorious sunshine! My husband and children went to the rugby stadium at Beziers and enjoyed a rugby match. We all went canoeing from Roquebrun- not for the faint hearted!!!!! Surprising rapids and lots of capsising (not me I hasten to add!!) The area was superb- lots to explore and do for all the family and I would highly recommend your property to others.

We may well be interested in booking in the future.

Mr & Mrs K. Norwich:

Wonderful house in quiet village with views from the terrace over the rooftops and surrounding vineyards.

Nearest Airport : Beziers at 18 Kilometres Nearest Barpub : village Nearest Beach : Serignon at 20 Kilometres Car: recommended

Several beaches within 30 mins driving distance, Serignon is the largest and best in our view with sand dunes. Cap d'Agde is much more developed with watersports, boat trips and a big Aqualand water park. There's river swimming and canoeing at numerous spots along the River Orb - the closest is 10 mins away at the most popular picturesque village of Roquebrun. The inland Lake Salagou (45 mins) offers swimming and sailing.

Beziers within 30 mins driving distance. Both Montpelier and Carcassone within 60 mins driving distance, Perpignon approx 75 mins.

Murviel les Béziers 5km. Beziers 20km. Roquebrun 8km. Cessonon sur Orb 7km. Lamalou-Les-Bains (spa town) 35km. St Chinian 15km. Pezenas 30km.

Further Details:

The village is on the edge of the National Park of the Haut Languedoc, Causses-et-Veyran dates back to pre-historic times. Towers from the Roman period can be found in the middle of a vineyard, remains of an 11th century priory, and the parish church dating from the 10th and 11th century are all well worth a visit. The vineyards around the village are part of the AOC Saint-Chinian wine area. The Bread depot opens 8-10am daily, a Vegetable van and a butcher come to the village on Thursday mornings and a smoked meat, fine cheese specialist on Tuesdays. A pizza van also sets up on Friday evenings. A winery is in the village selling wines from a reputable local vineyard. There is a free tennis court about a 5 minute walk from the house. A five minute drive away is the charming village of Cessonon sur Orb with a wider variety of shops and a weekly farmers' market. The nearest supermarket is less than 10 minutes drive away to Murveil les Beziers. Roquebrun is also a short drive with a Mediterranean garden, wonderful views, waterfall, canoeing and river swimming. Reals near Cessenon rents canoes and kayaks and leisurely trips along the river make a fantastic day out taking in all the scenery along the way. Traditional French restaurants can be found in Cessenon sur Orb, Murviel (at Chateau St.Martin), Reals (on the river outside Murviel) and Roquebrun. Spa enthuasists will find the famed spa town of Lamalou-Les-Bains 35km away. Markets: On Friday's markets take place in Roquebrun and Murviel. Beziers also has a well known flower and fresh fruit and vegetable market in the town square on Fridays. Nearby Cessonon sur Orb has a market on a Saturday morning and St Chinian hosts a very good market on Thursday and Sunday mornings. Markets are a great way to sample local produce and also a real social occasion for all the family. The pretty market town of Pezenas (35 mins) has a thriving Saturday market, antique shops and many restaurants.
