Apartment in Nice, Cote D'Azur, France - Close to All Amenities, 5 Minutes Walk to the Beach

This spacious apartment has a south facing living room with balcony overlooking a courtyard garden with lime, orange and lemon trees and north facing bedroom so there is a lovely through breeze during the summer months. It has a kitchen that comes fully equipped with everything you need for your stay and a very large slightly 'indulgent' bathroom with separate WC. The all important patisserie, shops, restaurants, museums, art galleries, banks, money exchange and supermarkets are a short stroll from the apartment. The airport buses (23 and 98) are a five minute walk from the apartment. The main railway station is a 10 minute walk if you are feeling adventurous and want to explore the beauty of the Cote d’Azur. If not head to the beach and enjoy the sun.

About The Owner

We live and work in London and escaping to Nice gives us an opportunity to step-off the treadmill and re-charge the batteries.

The Owner purchased this apartment in 2007

Why The Owner chose Nice

We first visited Nice in 2006 while staying with friends in Menton and fell in love with the city. It's got a good transport system, cheap by UK standards, restaurants catering for all tastes, museums/art galleries plus great weather.

We visited over 20 properties before deciding on our apartment. Many of those we saw could have been in any other city, nothing stood out. Our apartment offers loads of natural light, high ceilings, a small balcony and is centrally located. One guest described it as an oasis of calm with everything you need for a really enjoyable holiday.

Super apartment in a great location

We were given comprehensive information about the apartment in advance and it didn't disappoint. The location is great - a 15 minute walk to the beach / train station and bus stops to get to the old town are close by. We often walked back from the old town which took about 40 minutes. The apartment had everything we needed and we loved the spacious living room with the balcony overlooking the pretty garden. We'd happily recommend it and hope to return.

You get what you pay for!!!

We arrived late 9:30pm at the apartment to find we had to pay an additional 30 Euros on top of the 90 euro you pay for a cleaning charge etc!!! The flight that we took from Newcastle was the only flight we could take so you would have thought common sense would prevail and no additional charges would apply for a late arrival. That said if you travel to nice there is no need to use the taxis service as they take just as long as the bus system and are very expensive. The apartment was very simple. Small kitchen, adequate living space, large bathroom and a bedroom. The apartment should have aircon or at least a mobile aircon unit. The fans are ok but as the weather was in the 30s during the day and 20s at night it was difficult to cool down at night. The bed was not very comfortable like previous comments from other guests. The springy mattress had a thin mattress topper on it which really doesn't work!! When we stripped the bed as requested when you leave I was disgusted to find the pillows were shockingly dirty and stained with sweat and other bodily fluids. Not very pleasant to find. The living room is basic but the furniture was also disgustingly dirty and stained. (Replace this). Apart from that we had everything we needed. Nice is a lovely place and has plenty to offer. The restaurants are all the same, pasta, pizza, burgers and steak. Again you get what you pay for. The more you explore the more you find with regards to lovely bakers, shops etc. Would we stay at this apartment again, I think not!! Nice has lots to offer and we would definitely go again.

Owner's Response: We were very disappointed to read this review given previous reviews and take very seriously the issues raised by this guest. As a general comment we would like to say that all the information on the apartment is available on the website beforehand and in our terms and conditions. This includes the Meet and Greet charge (which covers key handover in Nice, introduction to the apartment, bath towels and bed linen, cleaning at the end of the stay and emergency contact number while in Nice), the fact that the apartment does not have aircon, the size of rooms, photographs etc. All guests are encouraged to familiarise themselves with this information in advance of their stay as it helps us to manage expectations. More specifically, we were shocked to hear a reference to dirty furniture as the apartment is thoroughly cleaned after each visit and no one, in seven years, has complained about the apartment or furniture, being dirty. However, we would like to thank this guest for bringing to our notice that the pillows were not in a good state, they were bought in February, and they are changed regularly. We will follow this up on our visit scheduled for 26th August. We note the comment the comment regarding the mattress and we take on board his comments if he did not find it comfortable. Lastly, it's important for us to add that we encourage all our guests to contact the managing agent in Nice if they have a problem. It is unfortunate that this didn’t happen on this occasion.

Clean, comfortable and completely Nicoise

This has been our second stay in this great Nice apartment, a lovely quiet corner right in the centre of town, with the beach, galleries, restaurants, supermarkets, old quarter and parks all within easy walking distance. The apartment has a lovely comfy bed, a well equipped little kitchen, a luxury bathroom and a superb living room with a brilliant balcony overlooking trees and gardens. We had another really comfortable week here, with that famous Nice weather to add to the enjoyment.

An attractive, clean and comfortable apartment, nicely placed for getting into central Nice

On getting to Nice airport we found that the number 98 bus, which we we planned to get to the apartment, had been cancelled due to strike action ! However fellow travellers advised us on alternative buses. The directions we were given to find Villa Jeannine were clear so we had no problem finding the apartment. Our 'greeter' Dorine was there to meet us and show us around the apartment which was up a flight of steps onto the first floor. We liked the apartment. It was airey, very clean and well equipped and perfect for two people. A nice, big bathroom with a shaver point. Plenty of towels too. A door from the lounge opened out onto a small balcony which overlooks a very verdant garden and, looking outwards, surrounding apartments. A nice place to relax. A short walk away is Blvd Gambetta (about 5 minutes) on which there are two supermarkets. We tended to use the Casino s'market for general goods like fresh milk, wine, bread and the Carrefour for bakery stuff..cakes, flans etc. It's a fairly short walk down to the attractive sea front at Promenade des Anglais. It's a 10-15 minute walk to the main railwat station and a 20-25 minute walk to Nice centre. The no.7 bus goes from near the apartment which will take you into the old town, well worth seeing, and the fare is only 1.50euros. Plenty of interesting places to get to. We visited Eze village, St Pauls and Vence, Cap Ferrat and the Rothschilds impressive pile and Monaco which, because it was Grand Prix set-up time was pretty chaotic. Travelling is very cheap. The buses and trams are 1.50euros so getting around is easy. All in all, a very nice holiday in a lovely area and a very pleasant 'home'. the weather was lovely incidentally.

GREAT APARTMENT IN EXCELLENT LOCATION

Highly recommend this apartment as it had everything we look for on a break away.

The facilities were good and we thought it was excellent value for money in lovely Nice.

The location was perfect and it was so peaceful and quiet whilst only a short, easy walk to all of the main attractions of the promenade, beach, old town and especially the train station which we found great for visiting Monaco, Antibes and Cannes. We loved Nice itself and were so happy we chose to holiday here and in this apartment. It was lovely to return to after a day out exploring the area knowing I could enjoy the sunny balcony whilst my hubby could crash out on the settee watching all of the UK TV channels before we headed out in the evening for a lovely stroll for our evening meal.

As this apartment was a great "home from home" for us we would definately return to it and recommend you give it a try, you will not be disappointed.

One to one tuition in french conversation can be arranged with a local teacher prior to arrival for guests wishing to develop or refresh their conversational skills. The popular beach front of Nice is a 5 minutes walk from the apartment.

Travel:

Nice has excellent transport links which are very good value for money, 1 euro 50 cents each way for a bus journey and 4 euros for an all day travel card. Nice airport is located a short 25 minute bus journey from the apartment and the airport bus stops, numbers 23 and 98, are a 5 minute walk from the apartment.

Distances:

Nice Central Railway Station is a 10 minute walk with regular trains eastbound to Villefranche-sur-Mer (17 mins), Monaco (25 mins), Menton (37 mins), and Ventimiligia (52 mins) and westbound Cagnes-sur-Mer (17 mins), Antibes (29 mins), Juan-les-Pins (32 mins), Cannes (40 mins) and Grasse (1 hour 9 mins). In addition, Nice has a working port with regular ferries to Corsica and Sardinia.

Booking Notes:
A 25% non-refundable deposit will hold the apartment. The balance, including a £80 refundable security deposit, is due 8 weeks before travelling. A booking form and booking terms and conditions will be supplied with the enquiry response. Instructions will be sent out on receipt of the final balance prior to departure including details of our Meet and Greet Service. The cost of this service is 90 Euros and payable to our local agent on arrival (arrivals usually take place between 4pm and 8pm but we can be more flexible outside of high season).

Changeover Day:
We will be as flexible as possible, particularly outside of high season in terms of arrival. In general we work to arrival times between 4 - 8pm and departure time of 10am in order to accommodate same-day arriving or departing guests.
