Rustic Villa - 2km North Of Almancil, adjacent to Algarve's Golden Triangle

Just a 10 min drive from Algarve's 'Golden Triangle' resorts of Quinta Do Lago and Vale Do Lobo and benefiting from the excellent beaches, restaurants, shopping and other amenities provided, this rustic bungalow sits on a large plot 2km north of Almancil. Ideal for families with children who need more space or peace & quiet than traditional holiday villas but don't want to be too far from the beaches and restaurants. Wide selection of restaurants within 5 min drive. 10 minute drive to beaches.

The Almancil area is structured so that not everything is at the beach, indeed development is pretty limited there. This means that this house is by no means cut off, Taxis are easy to get. Apolonia, the best supermarket in the area, is close by and some of the more upmarket restauraunts in the area such as A Quinta, Henrique Leis, Couleur France and Pequeno Mundo are also closer to this house than any of the houses nearer the beach.

Additionally, the two main roads that serve the Algarve the A22 and EN125 are both close by so access to the airport, Vilamoura, Loule and the rest of the Algarve is easy and quick.

About Paul Costigan

We are an Irish family living in Hong Kong. We've been renting our Algarve properties since we moved there for 4 very happy years in 2004. We bought this house as we departed the Algarve in 2008 & we go there ourselves for all of July. Happy to correspond in English/Dutch/French/Portuguese/Mandarin.

We are happy to recommend great local restaurants, great day trips, great beaches and so on - just ask. We want to ensure our guests have an enjoyable & comfortable stay. We work hard to ensure the villa is in tip top condition & regularly get it painted, replace furniture and soft furnishings, loungers, etc.

Finally, rest assured that we have a local agent who will meet you upon arrival & is an excellent resource for any issues that may arise

We lived in the Algarve ourselves for 4 years & have special place in our heart for the area.

What makes this house unique

Really love the combination of being in the peaceful countryside but yet only 5-10 mins from all the action at the beaches.

Notes:
Notes on accommodation: Air-conditioning in lounge and all bedrooms. Outside: Large (50m2) kid safe fenced pool, solar cover adds about 5 degrees but this is usually totally unnecessary in July/Aug in the Algarve. Large terrace area with BBQ & dining area. The whole site is 7,000 sq.m. divided into two fields with abundant lemon, orange, almond, fig and lime trees in front of the house as well as Olive trees in the driveway and adjacent field (welcome to help yourself). Utility Room: Washer and dryer. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Maid service twice per week, linen changed once per week. Other: Very large terrace with large BBQ and outside shaded dining area. Large pool (50m2). Roof terrace with great sea views.

A great relaxing holiday

I can't recommend this holiday home enough! We really enjoyed our stay. Paul, the owner, was really helpful in the run up to the holiday. Once there the elevate position gave fantastic views, the pool was great a really good size and all the bedrooms and bathrooms were to a high standard. The welcome pack was a lovely surprise too. We enjoyed our stay so much that we want to come back next summer, which is something we have never done before! AD

Perfert Private Getaway

Myself and my Husband absolutely loved our stay here. It was our first trip away with our 12 month old daughter. We wanted a location that was safe, comfortable and private. The house was exceptionally clean and had everything we needed. The Grounds were extensive with orchards to the front of the house, such a lovely setting with beautiful views. My daughter loved exploring the lemon and olive trees. The garden and pool area were very well maintained. Perfect for evening dinner/drinks outdoors. The private pool had a child safe barrier surrounding it which gave us both peace of mind. I would highly recommend this property to other families. Having your own transport is needed though as pubs, restaurants and beach are a short drive away.

amazing property

We visited this property in June with our teenagers and had an amazing holiday. The large pool and terrace with shaded seating area was used all day and evening, from al fresco breakfast to evening cocktails. The pool is far superior to the usual holiday villa one that you find, and is securely fenced.

The location is peaceful yet within a 10 minute drive of excellent restaurants and a large supermarket. There are great beaches nearby too.

The villa itself is very well equipped, the bedrooms are large and the air conditioning easy to control and worked really well. The local agent was lovely and helped us with our car hire minor crisis. The owners provided a lot of information about the villa and the local amenities.

We are looking forward to returning to this great property.

Special interest holidays:

For families with active young children who need more than just the beach, we recommend Pine Trees Horseriding Centre. Also Aquashow water park and Zoomarine waterpark & Dolphin sanctuary are ideal family days out.

For anyone interested in serious wine, the Malhadinha Nova vineyard & restaurant in Alentejo is about 1 hour away & is world class. I highly recommend both the wine and the restaurant as well as some of the other vineyards near it.

Sailing & boating rental and even RHA approved license courses are also available in both Vilamoura and Lagos.

Finally, nearby Loule market is great on a Saturday and for the more serious shopper, both Faro and Guia shopping centres are big & feature good selections of local and international chains.

Coast/Beach:

10 mins drive from a large selection of beaches. Action packed beaches with a wide selection of restauraunts/bars & beach activiies (jet ski, etc.) like Garrao (the famous Julia's beach) or Vale Do Lobo or Vilamoura plus quieter beaches like Ancao, Faro Island, Trafal and Cavalho Preto (Black Horse) all 10-15 mins away. Travel:

15-20 mins from Faro airport.

GPS Coordinates: Longitude 8º2'30.44''O ( dd: -8.0418) and latitude 37º6'35.46''N ( dd: 37.1099).

Taxis are easy to order but we would definitely recommend Car Hire. We are happy to recommend local car rental agencies which are substantially cheaper than the international chains. Some of the agencies will even deliver the car to you so you can initially get a taxi to the villa from the airport.

Distances:

2km north of Almancil, 15km from Faro (Airport). The Algarve has a lot to offer, some nice coastal towns, many with marinas, inland has beautiful historical towns such as Silves and Monchique. Faro and Loule are both nice local towns to visit. Seville about 2 hours away, Lisbon about 2.5 hours away, 2 great cities for day trips. Other closer parts of Spain such as Lepe and Huelva worth visiting and have nice beaches.

Further Details:

We can recommend a local English speaking babysitter with her own car.

Nearest nightlife is Vilamoura Marina (15 mins) & then further afield, Albufeira & other tows are all ~30 mins away.

Vale Formosa 3km with number of very popular restaurants (incl. A Quinta and Henrique Leis).

Cycling, diving, fishing, golf, horse riding, mountain biking, paragliding, sailing, surfing, swimming, tennis, walking, water skiing and wind surfing.

Apolonia supermarket 2km.
