Situated on the Lisbon Coast, this modern and spacious villa was completed early in 2008, comprising the owners particular requirements. It is located in the quiet village of Palhais, which adjoins Ribamar and in easy reach of the resort of Ericeira on the Atlantic Ocean. The beaches and scenery are spectacular, and you will be ideally placed for other attractions including, the palace at Mafra, the many beaches on the Lisbon and Silver coast's, Lisbon, Sintra, Estoril and Cascais to the south, Peniche and Obidos to the north, several golf courses in easy reach including the spectacular Oitavos Dunes and Praia D'El Rey. The property is now only 30 minutes drive north from Lisbon Airport. Detailed directions and other information will be provided by the owners.

About John Hayes

The owners are four friends - Beverley, Colin, Dave and John (and their partners) who had the property built by a local builder Lionel, to a high standard and with our specific requirements, and we are very proud of it.

We are all golfers and at one time lived in the same area, in Cheshire.

We all like to spend time at the property and have fallen in love with the area. We think renters will enjoy it just as much as we do.

Why John Hayes chose Ericeira

If you are familiar with Portugal's Algarve, then you like us will experience the more traditional culture and pace on the Lisbon Coast.

This property with it's pool. BBQ area, games room, free WIFI, TV (with limited UK channels), DVD and CD players.........offers you all you will need when your not out sightseeing or visiting a beach.

It is a relaxing area which also offers the visitor access to historical venues such as Sintra, Obidos, Mafra and Peniche. There is also the stunning coastline, local and international cuisine, with fish and seafood a speciality.

You are ensured a warm welcome in the village bars and cafes and also in Ericeira's many shops, bars and restaurants.

Farther is Lisbon, Estoril and Cascais to the south and south of the's east to Evora or why not visit Troia via a ferry from Setubal. In that area you may also visit Sesimibra.

To the north, it is 2 hours to the university City of Coimbra and only .5 hours to Porto and the famous Douro River.

What makes this villa unique

The property is now only 30-40 minutes from Lisbon Airport on the new A21 motorway, and is perfect for family holidays and romantic getaways.

It offers easy access to all beaches along the Lisbon Coast, and 10 minutes drive to Ericeira and the new Continente hypermarket south of Mafra.

It also only 5 minutes drive to the nearest beaches and the local shops and cafes in Ribamar.

Further afield are an array of splendid golf courses. We can help with advice should you be taking your clubs.

Finally, the House Manager Fernando lives just minutes away and will meet you on arrival. He will also provide support during your stay, including a taxi services if required.

Notes on accommodation: The property has under floor heating which can be controlled room by room, during cooler months. Rear steps provided access from the verranda outside the kitchen/lounge can be used to reach the pool area. Outside: At the rear of the property, you will find the 8m x 3m pool, poolside shower, 8 sunbeds, and a barbecue with roof. Two patio tables with 8 chairs and large umbrellas. Outside lighting creates the perfect setting for alfesco eating. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: The property will be fully cleaned and prepared for your arrival. Linen and bathroom towels are provided. Additional cleaning, change of linen, etc may be available by prior arrangement and with an additional charge . Other: Large games room with full size table tennis table, pool table and all equipment, leading to the pool area. Selection of books, cards, domino's.

Amazing villa in a lovely location. Our party consisted of 4 adults and 5 children; bags of room at the villa. The games room with adjoining bedroom and bathroom was perfect for the teenagers giving them welcomed space and peace for the adults! Would recommend it. Beaches were fantastic with waves to die for. Being on the Atlantic coast, rather than the Algarve, it offered good value for money. Top marks!

The villa was fantastic. Spotless on arrival. The owners had thought of everything, board games, books, extra chairs at the pool area. Fernando the Manager was so helpful to us all, was passionate about the area, and more than willing to give advice on buses, he also doubled up as a taxi on occasions. We would highly recommend this property, and will certainly like to return next year. Thank you John for a fantastic holiday.

The villa was exceptional in all aspects and of the many villas we have stayed in we all agreed it was the best. The House Manager was extremely helpful, albeit the only time we had to trouble him was when the gas cylinder needed changing. He even gave us an initial tour of the local area around Ribamar, which was also a lovely village - we made use of the mini-markets, local bar and restaurants, the butcher, bakery and fishmonger. Everyone we met was very helpful and friendly.

The villa itself was spotlessly clean and a great deal of thought has gone into what items are necessary for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. There was ample space to accommodate eight people with room to spare! Pool and surrounding area was very clean and the barbeque was fantastic! We also enjoyed many games of pool and table tennis!

Whilst based at the villa we visited Peniche, Mafra, Sintra and Praia Grande as well as the local beaches and Ericeira itself. As advised, this is a very unspoilt area of Portugal. We have visited the Algarve several times over the past 30 years and this reminded us of how the Algarve used to be.

Would readily recommend this villa to others.

Great time!!

Great spacious house for two families, enjoyed the swimming pool and the area was nice and quiet.

The house itself was in good standard and was very clean. I would highly recommend and would definitely love to visit again.

Larger than I thought it would be.

Some of the plugs for the wash basins didn't work, and the flush button for the toilet nearest the front door, had half missing, this worried me that we would get the blame, and loss part of my deposit, my only other complaint was that the wi fi only worked when you were in the middle of the house. Apart from that the place was perfect, especially the little things, like toilet paper for my eight year old daughter to use when we arrived late in the day, because of hold ups at the airport, books, games for the morning it rained, and all the help with directions, tolls and the supper markets I can't Thank you enough.

The nearest beach - Ribeira d'Illhas- is only 10 minutes walk away. The area is well serviced a number of spectacular beaches from Lizandro and Sao Joao (south of Ericeira), to the north, south and fisherman's (town) beaches close to Ericeira, and Ribeira d'Illhas and San Lourenco north of Ericeira. They are all within 20 minutes drive of the villa and accessible from the coast road.

Ericeira is 10 minutes drive away and full of character. It also has a greater choice of restaurants, bars, cafes and larger supermarkets. Our House Manager Fernando will also provide a taxi service by prior arrangement for trips in to and return from Ericeira..


Lisbon Airport is 40 minutes drive from the villa, which is easily accessible through new motorway links. Car hire is essential, and readily available from Lisbon Airport. But shop around, prices can vary. We can help you book your hire car if required. Lisbon Airport is now a destination for a number of schedule and low-cost airlines. Ryanair fly in to Porto. We can also help with your flights. We will provide directions from both Lisbon and Porto airports.
