Villa at Queen's Beach, Speightstown, St Peter, Barbados - Quiet Secluded Location, Garden Gate Opens Onto Beach
Sanderlings is a luxury villa located on secluded Queen's Beach, St Peter, one of the best sandy beaches on Barbados' west coast. The villa sits in its own peaceful private walled shady tropical garden, with a gate leading straight onto the beach. The property has a private drive, shared with the the neighbouring villa with secure gates. Sanderlings is our much loved second home and is beautifully furnished with all mod cons. It has a large airy open plan living space, a separate well-equipped modern kitchen and downstairs WC. All rooms have overhead fans. A telephone and broadband connection is also available. The villa has two large double bedrooms with spacious en-suite bathrooms. The master bedroom is tastefully furnished with a double bed, and glass doors leading out to a beautiful terrace with seating area and wonderful view of the sea.

The biggest two bedroom house I have ever seen, huge amount of space for the three of us to make use of. Kitchen fully kitted out with everything we needed. The lovely housekeeper was wonderful and a pleasure to have around the house. All in all this was a fantastic place to stay, with the owners even calling us on a couple of occasions to check we had all we needed and were enjoying ourselves. The location was ideal and close to bars, supermarket and lovely beaches (one of them right at the bottom of our garden!). Highly recommend!
A gem of a place
We loved this place .... immaculately positioned on a beach to die for...making morning wake up coffee and sunset drinks just perfect. The villa was everything we were hoping for ...masses of space, well equipped, a lovely home from home. Frances the owner couldn't do more for us before we arrived, and once there, the housekeeper Dorien, looked after the three of us so well. We will be back and wouldn't hesitate to recommend. It seemed by chance, or perhaps fate that we came across this charming villa whilst walking along the beach during our holiday last year. We might have missed it but were drawn to the name of the house 'Sanderlings' as it has some significance in our lives. When we later discovered that a holiday rental was possible our fate was sealed. Perhaps our best decision yet on this, our fifth trip to Barbados! We are looking forward to returning whenever we can. Thanks to all concerned for a memorable holiday.
We had a wonderful stay at this lovely villa. The villa was very spacious, well equipped and kept beautifully clean. The location was amazing, just to step out of the good sized, pretty garden onto the beach was magic. The beach itself was very quiet and the sea safe for swimming. There were some gorgeous sunsets from the large balcony and it was so relaxing sitting here, during the day watching the birds and the mongoose and at night looking at the fireflies and listening to the cicadas and whistling frogs. It was an easy 5 minute walk into town where there is an adequate supermarket, fish market and several good places to eat. The locals were very friendly and happy to chat. A car is not necessary but if you want to tour the island then it is useful. I can recommend visiting Huntes Garden and St Nicholas Abbey. I'm hoping that we will be able to come back again.
Charming villa, perfect location
Sanderlings is exceptional. A gorgeous villa with spacious accommodation and old world charm. The large balconies overlook the well tended gardens and the beach. And the location, oh the location! Step through your own private gate onto a secluded beach and enjoy a swim with the local turtles. Take a drink down to the beach and relax on one of the sun-loungers to watch the sunset. Later, swim under the moon and stars before bedtime. Idyllic! Add to this good restaurants and shops all within walking distance and you have a perfect Caribbean holiday.
Sea & sunsets
Perfect location especially if you want to be away from the main tourist areas. Beautiful, spacious & well kept villa & gardens. To step out of the garden gate on to the beach was a big bonus. Fantastic sunsets from the large balcony overlooking the sea. During the day humming birds are frequent visitors to the garden.
All amenities within short walking distance in Speightstown eg supermarket, bank, shops, restaurants & bars. Local people were very friendly & helpful. Buses stop near the villa going to all parts of the island - an experience not to be missed!
We were well looked after by the housekeeper who kept everything spotless.
If you are seeking ultra modern accommodation with busy nightlife/clubs nearby then this is probably not for you. However, if like us you prefer somewhere with charm and character where you can relax in wonderful surroundings, you will love Sanderlings as we certainly did. We hope to return!
Activity and Interests
Property is on the beach - just open the gate! Wonderful uncrowded sandy beach
Car hire is available nearby although public transport is also excellent. In Barbados they drive on the left which avoids confusion. The villa is located approximately 45mins from the airport. A UK driving licence or equivalent is essential.
Speightstown is easy walking distance (1/4 mile), Holetown is 5 miles.
Other activities include watching polo, on a Sunday afternoon at one of the four polo grounds on the island, trying your luck at the Races, or watching cricket at the Oval. There are also a whole range of beautiful historic sites across the island, and the stunning internationally known Hunte's and Andromeda botanical gardens are just a short drive from the villa. Speightstown is with walking distance for all local amenities, banks, post office, supermarket, and a whole variety of good restaurants. You will always feel safe in Speightstown as crime is minimal.
