This beautiful 152 sq.m. chalet completed in March 2008 offers accommodation over 2 floors. The property includes 2 family bathrooms and a luxury kitchen with granite worktops. 2 bedrooms on ground floor and 2 bedrooms on first floor, along with second living room on first floor makes this property ideal for 2 families. Separate utility room with washing and drying machines. Large south facing terrace with views to the Matterhorn. Panoramic views through full length picture windows. Peaceful mountain location but within 15 minutes walk of shop, restaurant and chairlift in the Summer. Wonderful walking and cycling available from the door, 4 valleys skiing within a 2 minute drive.

Amazing stay at a great chalet

This is a great chalet with a stunning view.

We stayed towards the end of summer and may have struck lucky with the weather - the whole week was hot and clear.

But in any case we think this is a great place to stay summer or winter. The chalet is of a high standard and in very good condition, with all the facilities you would need or expect.

The main feature is the living/dining/kitchen area which has large picture windows framing a stunning view - the Matterhorn is visible at the end of the valley and the view constantly changes and is very compelling. We were happy sometimes just to sit and stare, especially just after the sun rose over the mountains opposite or watching the ever changing light towards sunset.

A suntrap terrace made the most of the same amazing views.

A mezzanine housed a chill out and TV space - ideal for the children. 2 bedrooms on each floor would sleep 10 comfortably. 2 bathrooms too so not q's in the morning...

The owners were very helpful and positive - we had no problems at all during our stay but if we had I'm sure we would have got great service.

Access up to Chalet Munro is a series of switchbacks above the small town of Vex. Very beautiful drive through the pine trees. Once happily in residence you can walk up through flower filled meadows and across one of the network of "bisses" - irrigation channels - to the local village of Les Collons. Being out-of-season this was sleepy but has a great boulangerie, a couple of restaurants and shops to provide local needs. We did most of our major shopping in Sion.

There are hikes straight from the door. The Dix dam is awe-inspiring and 45 mins up an adjacent valley. Don't miss Les Pyramides on the way to Evolene - which is a beautiful trad mountain village, again with great hikes. Zermatt is less than 2 hrs away and worth the visit - we took the (pricey!) cable cars up to walk below the Matterhorn itself - stunning.

In winter we'd imagine the whole experience would be very different - but with skiing on your doorstep, a wood burning stove and underfloor heating, a large garage to store all the gear and those same amazing views it would be quite a place to stay.

Ruime en luxe woning, complete inrichting en magnifique uizicht.

Deze woning, op een prachtige ligging in Wallis, is een geweldige uitvalsbasis voor verschillende (wandel) tochten in de zomer.

De woning is netjes ingericht, 2 badkamers, complete keuken met vaatwasser, oven, broodrooster en magnetron.

Door de grote ramen in de woning is het uitzicht magnifiek!

Tijdens ons verblijf was het in het dal behoorlijk warm maar op het terras goed toeven door de hogere ligging; HEERLIJK om ook gewoon in en om het huis te vertoeven.

We misten in 1e instantie een koffiezetapparaat maar met een losse koffiefilter hebben we heerlijke koffie kunnen zetten.

Kortom, voor een zomerhuis een PERFECTE uitvalsbasis.

Location

From the Owner

This is one of the greatest views you will ever see on a winter holiday, from the Rhone valley to your left, the Val d'Herens ahead of you, and in the distance to your right lies the Dent Blanche and the Matterhorn. It is a very secluded chalet, and very peaceful. It also has easy access to the ski lifts in Les Collons and Piste de l'Ours, and the ski area offers a tremendous range of runs, with some good blues for the beginner, challenging reds for the intermediate skier, and great black runs for those who prefer the steeper stuff.

Coast/Beach:

Lake Geneva offers fantastic beaches within 1.5 hours drive. Swimming is available in outdoor pools in Sion and Sierre within a 30minute drive. There are thermal baths at Ovronnaz and Leukebad accessible within a 45 minute drive.

Travel:

Les Collons is situated 20 minutes from Sion and transfers from Geneva airport will take 2 hours by car. Driving from Calais/Zebrugge will take approx 9 hours.

Distances:

Les Collons is situated 20km from the historic town of Sion and 5 minutes from the traditional Swiss village of Heremence. Thyon is a 5 minute drive and includes an indoor swimming pool. The Val d'Herens offers access to the Grand Dixence Dam (highest in Europe), the mountain village of Evolene and the renowned Pyramides d'Euseigne - an amazing geological formation that appears to defy gravity. Restaurants and supermarkets are available in Les Masses and Les Collons.

Further Details:

The property has stunning views taking in the Matterhorn to the Southeast with an unbroken panorama to Crans Montana in the North. This part of the Valais Alpes offers terrific walking and mountain biking opportunities in the summer along with world renowned skiing in the winter. The ski lifts provide uplift for walking and cycling during the summer months giving easy access to the mountains. The historic Bisse de Vex is within walking distance at Mayens de Sion.

Attractions further afield include Zermatt, Milan or the Italian lakes to the East and Lake Geneva, Chamonix and Lausanne to the West.

Activities available locally include tennis, horseriding, fishing and paragliding. If all that leaves you wanting then there is always Les Combats de Reines - Cow fighting.

  • Notes on accommodation: All bedrooms and living areas have underfloor heating. The chalet is non smoking throughout and no pets are allowed. The property is ideal for families. For very young children there are removable stair gates, some toys, a travel cot and high chair. There is a very good play park in the centre of Les Collons. Outside: The property has a large south facing terrace complete with table, chairs and barbeque - this is a space that offers magnificent views and is the perfect suntrap. Utility Room: Washing machine, tumble dryer, iron and ironing board. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All bed linen is included and we pay CHF 250 to our cleaning lady for cleaning the chalet and laundering the bed linen/tea towels. This charge is payable along with the balance of the rent, 8 weeks prior to your holiday. Clients provide own bath towels. Other: First floor mezzanine equipped with DVD player along with additional double bed. I-Pod Dock and Speakers also available. Large garage with electric door.
