Low Cost Well Equipped Apartment in Stunning Coastal town of Formia

2022 OFFERS AVAILABLE NOW - PLEASE ASK BEFORE THEY ARE ALL GONE
Beaches, sea, sun and more. Formia is a stylish Italian town nestled in the spectacular Aurunci hills and overlooking the Mediterranean sea. Within driving distance of Formia are Naples, Pompeii, Vesuvius, Scauri, Gaeta and Sperlonga. Rome is just one hour away by train. This town really does have it all. Designer shops, traditional Italian markets, the most amazing Italian food you'll ever eat at prices you won't believe and beaches to die for. If you book early you could receive one or more discounted days at a beautiful private beach resort nearby. This is an area which has something to offer all year round. Easter processions, Christmas markets, summer festas. The magnificent Roman theatre at Minturnae puts on operatic and theatrical productions throughout the summer months. The pontine islands are just an hour away. Once there you can hire a boat and explore the unspoilt coastline all around the islands. Water-skiing on the lake in Sperlonga is very popular with teenagers. The best thing about having a summer holiday in this area is that you can combine world class cultural excursions with Mediterranean beach indulgence of the best kind. In all past reviews, our guests tell us how wonderful it is to be able to spend a whole day relaxing in luxury at the exclusive Miramare beach resort a short walk from the flat, then the next day to be able to visit Pompeii, Herculaneum, Naples and more. Or to be able to take the children to the Cassino Aqua Park for the day, then to pop into Montecassino Abbey on the way home. Holiday highlights that our guests raved about in recent reviews on our Formia apartment include the following: visiting Pompeii at night as a Son et lumiere extravaganza, hiring a glass bottomed boat at the island of Ventotene or Ponza and sailing all around the island on their own with regular stops at magical isolated beaches, the Aqua Park at Cassino with its multitude of slides, pools and music - perfect for active teenage children and young adults, eating the best pizza in the world at Michele's or Vesi's in Naples, (or if you can't get to Naples, pizza at the Tartufo restaurant around the corner from the flat is pretty amazing), the free operatic productions under the stars in Formia and in Minturnae, spending one or more days at the Miramare hotel beach resort, with its exclusive white sandy beach, secluded pool and pool side waiter service for drinks and food as required, low cost train travel to Rome, Naples and Caserta, the wonderful Formia restaurants - in particular Zi Anna, Pesce Matto and Tartufo, being able to buy wonderful Campanian buffalo mozzarella on a daily basis from the local supermarket or better still visiting the Santa Lucia Mozzarella buffalo farm across the border in Campania (just a 20 minute drive away), help feed the buffalo in the field next door, see how the mozzarella is made, stay for a wonderful taster menu lunch - all mozzarella based and buy their exceptional mozzarella to take home to Formia at discounted prices. If you are ice-cream fans then the ice-cream at Lavezzi in Formia is as good as it gets anywhere in Italy. Lavezzi has won national ice-cream awards for its fruit flavoured ice-cream for years and their hazelnut ice-cream has been rated number 1 in Italy for that flavour for the past 30 years. If you enjoy an aperitivo Italian style then treat yourselve to an Aperol Spritz at Lo Zanzibar near the market square in Formia where you will be treated to a whole platter of antipasti treats free of charge in addition to your drinks. The Panorama shopping centre is great for shoppers; at Panorama you can totally indulge in the summer sales and buy wonderful Italian designer outfits at a fraction of their original cost. Our guests always mention how kind the locals are in their reviews to us; they all tend to find their neighbours and other locals they meet, friendly, helpful and kind even though not everyone in this area speaks English. Last but not least, the reasonable prices of everything in this area has to be a consideration when you are booking a summer holiday; as Formia is NOT a resort, then the prices are not set to exploit foreign tourists. What's even more important than that, is the fact that Formia restaurants do not cater for a tourist market so the food is of an exceptional standard at all times. Our guests are often the only foreign tourists eating at a particular restaurant so you can be sure that the quality of the food will be amazing. That in itself is an important question to ask and answer when making one of the most important decisions of the year: HOW MUCH WILL YOUR HOLIDAY REALLY COST AND WHAT WILL YOU GET FOR THE MONEY?

Fantastic experience!
I have to say, staying here was a brilliant choice. This was my second time in the flat, having stayed there from July-August the previous year, and both times I couldn't have wished for more. The weather was fantastic (even for October/November) and I got to go to the beach and swim in the sea, all the while thinking about how everyone I knew must be freezing back in the UK! The flat itself was so nice: everything I needed was there and it was very comfortable. It was also great value for money compared to other summer rental flats in that area of Italy. All in all, I would thoroughly recommend staying here, as both on and off season it's a fantastic experience.

My stay in Formia
I stayed in this flat in the beautiful area of Formia last summer. The flat itself was a great place to stay - very peaceful, air-conditioned which was useful as Italy is so hot in the summer, very comfortable and clean, only a short walk from the beach, the shops and the centre of Formia which is a very vibrant and exciting place to be with a lot going on, live music, shops open late etc. Formia station is also nearby, walkable or accessible by bus and so I could take trips into Rome or Naples. Lucia Mazzeo, who rented us the flat, was very helpful and even provided us with a suggested itinerary of excursions and places to eat in the evening. As a result, we had several lovely meals overlooking the sea and benefited from Lucia's excellent knowledge of the area. The beach near the flat is fantastic too, the water is very clean and if we did not want to pay for a sunbed and parasol on a private beach, there is a public beach where we could bring our own chairs and parasol etc. We spent a few days at a paying beach lido which was lovely and had a pool and again this was in walking distance of the flat. Overall a really wonderful stay and I would highly recommend this flat to anyone. Food was lovely, days out were great and the flat had everything we needed. Grazie tanto!

Loved it!
Loved it! Arrived early evening Monday 10 August and let into the flat - first impressions were it was 'very Italian' and we were right! It is not a five star apartment with a swimming pool but it is a lovely homely two bed-roomed apartment. By the end of the week we wanted to buy it! Locally there is a very good Bakery, Pizzeria, Roast Chicken shop and a little supermarket. We ate most evenings in Il Tartufo restaurant which was exceptionally good and only two minutes walk away. The apartment has everything needed for a beach holiday including extra beach towns, wind breakers and chairs. We used the beach at The Grand Fagiano Hotel , five minutes walk away - the beach is perfect and the water beautiful. Although on the outskirts of the town it is well away from the hustle and bustle and a perfect retreat. The owner was fantastic, communications brilliant and nothing was too much trouble. Will be back, plan to be regulars!

Wonderful Italy
We went to a beautiful wedding right on the beach in Formia on 3 September so we found this apartment close-by. The apartment is clean, well equipped, comfortable and cool (not all Italian apartments have air conditioning; this one does and it was greatly appreciated). Formia train station is a short bus ride away so we didn’t need to hire a car and that saved us money and kept us safe (neither of us would have been comfortable driving in Italy). The owner is really helpful; she advised us on possible excursions and timings and where to go and eat in the Formia area. One of the highlights for me was the time we spent at an incredible private beach resort which the owner secured for us at a really low rate; had we paid the full amount it would have come to more than we paid for this apartment for an entire week. That alone is recommendation enough I think. Go for it, you won’t regret it I assure you.

This is a family apartment; it used to belong to my parents; we are not an agency or property developers. We now let this apartment during the weeks when we are not there ourselves as we live and work in the UK. We would like others to experience this area of Italy before the 21st Century hits it and transforms it beyond recognition. Now is the time to have a holiday of this kind while places like this still exist. You certainly couldn't stay in a town like this in Umbria or Tuscany or even Sperlonga at this sort of price. Our Formia flat is excellent value for money considering it is within walking distance of the beach and surrounded by so many well known historical wonders; quite a few of our guests are now good friends and return to Formia on a yearly basis. That is our best recommendation I think.

Why they chose this property

SUMMER 2021 OFFERS AVAILABLE NOW - PLEASE ASK BEFORE THEY ARE ALL GONE
My parents bought the property in the early 70's when the apartment block was being built. We have always used this apartment as a holiday home for when one or more of us are in Italy. Formia was selected as our Italian family base for many reasons: at the time my parents wanted a new, modern easy to run apartment, located close to family connections and good friends but also within walking distance of the beach resort we have been going to for years; we wanted easy access to the town of Formia with all its shops, restaurants and cafes and we wanted good public transport, buses, trains, taxis as we do not always travel to Formia by car but we do also want to be able to park our car or hire car close to the apartment if necessary. Although this apartment block does not have its own private parking area, we have never had problems finding a parking space nearby. Most of the time we are able to find one just below our block so we can keep an eye on it from the balcony above, but occasionally, in July and August, when Italian holidaymakers are there, we have had to park in Via Don Luigi Sturzo, near the Rosticceria Ravello, but that has never proved problematic in any way at all so guests should not worry if they book the apartment in the summer months and hire a car for the duration of their stay in Formia

What makes this property unique

SUMMER 2021 OFFERS AVAILABLE NOW - PLEASE ASK BEFORE THEY ARE ALL GONE
The expression Location, Location, Location is certainly appropriate here. This area of Italy really does seem to have it all. The beach resort we have a connection with is just a short walk away, the public beach is even closer. It is an easy apartment to manage: small but well equipped and easy to clean and maintain. We have a lovely cleaner who would be happy to come and clean for guests at a moment's notice at a very reasonable rate. She is also happy to provide housekeeping and cooking provision should the need arise (although at the moment due to social distancing guidelines, that may not be possible). Having good public transport available makes it easy for guests to go for short or even longer breaks and not have to hire a car. We provide excellent value for money compared to other properties in the area; as we are not agents so we are not looking for maximum income just for maintenance costs; we only select guests that we believe will look after this flat for us when they are there. We always tend to be fully booked from March to November and quite a few guests return regularly; if not every year, every few years - that in itself, speaks volumes.
