Villa in Les Castagnes, Nr. St. Julien, Herault, Languedoc Roussillon - Fabulous Scenery in the Heart of the Haute Languedoc

A wonderful place for family vacations! Located in the unspoilt mountain hamlet of Les Castagnes in the centre of the Parc Naturel du Haute Languedoc, this original stone cottage has been carefully restored and extended to provide a spacious villa, with all the conveniences of modern services. The extension has been sensitively designed to complement the original cottage. Local materials and imaginative use of glass has maximised the natural light in the house, which benefits from lovely, unimpeded views over the Avant Mountains and the Caroux Mountains. The interior has been finished in an elegant modern style which complements the beams, hardwood floors and Italian tiling. 10 people can be comfortably accommodated, with a choice of 3 double bedrooms, 1 twin bedroom and a mezzanine bedroom. About Nicky Allen

We lived in Paris for 5 years when our children were little and we bought and renovated the Villa with friends to be our summer getaway.

However circumstances changed and we were moved to Canada with work. I have now lived in Canada for many years but always go back to France and to London every year. My children have lots of wonderful memories at the Villa and my daughter will actually marry there in 2015!

I still pine for Europe, especially in the long Canadian winters and so have held on to the Villa as a place where I can meet up with family and friends.

What makes this villa unique

The setting is absolutely stunning ! You swim surrounded by 360 degrees of beautiful mountain scenery in total privacy. The property originated as a small schoolhouse and the schoolhouse is the existing living area...you can check the thickness of the stone walls to see were the newer part of the house was added on. The house has the benefit of sitting in the small hameau as though it has been there forever...but once inside the house it has all the modern amenities. My family have wonderful memories of chasing lizards, lounging by the pool..my friends children learning to swim! BBQ's and laying out in the night counting shooting stars! My daughters wedding there last year was the greatest memory for all of us....it really was like a fairytale!

Outside: Double doors from the kitchen lead to the patio area with teak garden furniture for al fresco dining. A further large Stone Patio extends into the garden and is perfect for sunbathing and relaxing. The patio is surrounded by shady spots for reading and sipping a glass of wine. The garden then banks up steeply to the swimming pool area. The swimming pool measures 8m x 5m and is surrounded by a combination of paving and decking. The pool area is private and fully enclosed by subtle fencing, making the area safe for small children, whilst at the same time maintaining the magnificent views over the beautiful countryside. Ample garden furniture, and a charcoal barbecue are available for your convenience. The garden looks over the vineyard located in the centre of the village. There are magnificent 360 degree views with mountains behind the house and views across to the hilltops on the other side of the Valley of the river Jaur. Utility Room: Separate washer, dryer and utility sink. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and linen are included. The property is cleaned at the end of your stay. Additional cleaning can be arranged if required.
