Guestbook comments from the owner
We had a lovely time at your villa. It is in an amazing location with stunning views. We enjoyed picking out the hamlet as we sat on the terrace in Motovun having dinner. It's also a great base to explore in all directions...Being a serious wine taster I enjoyed the local wines and being surrounded by vineyards.
The villa is very nicely furbished, spacious and well equipped.
From the Owner
“We toured all of Istria and the whole family agreed: the best place to buy a house was close to Motovun. It is the most beautiful place - houses and churches huddled on to a hillside which can be seen for miles. It is a great place to walk around and sit with some good food whilst admiring the views. On every journey to Croatia, the first time we see the hillside town again we cheer! We can see Motovun from some of our windows and have the best view of it as we drive or walk towards it. Motovun is in a great position to see the rest of Istria. We often go to Porec in an evening to wander around, looking at the boats in the harbour and walking on the old cobbled streets. Whilst nowhere is too busy in Istria it is still nice to leave the crowds and drive back to the hamlet.”
Activity and Interests
The beautiful town of Porec is easily got to by car for an evening meal or a day out by the sea. It takes about 30 mins to reach from the villa so in no time at all you can explore the pretty streets and taste the wonderful ice creams.
You will need a car to reach our villa and to get around.
It can be reached from Pula and Rijeka airports (45 minutes drive) and from airports in Italy, Venice and Trieste (3 hours and 1 1/2 hours respectively).
The hill town of Motovun is on your doorstep with Groznjan close by. This is another hill town known for its galleries and wonderful views. If you want to visit the sea then Porec and Rovinj are picturesque harbours with cobbled streets and plenty of places to sit and eat whilst watching the world go by. There is a Roman amphitheatre in Pula which is worth a visit.
Boat trips to Venice and the Brijuni Islands are possible from many harbours. With options of visiting caves, lovely walks, bike riding and wine trails there will be plenty for you to do!

From the Owner
“The property is in the middle of a hamlet which means we can say the odd hello to our friendly neighbours but the place is quiet and we will rarely see anyone. The hamlet has become very smart over the last few years - and is mostly owned by Croatians, which we love. This house is a one off and not part of a mini complex. One of the best parts for me when we stay there is to open the shutters first thing in the morning and step out (on a typically hot and sunny day) with only the noise of a distant church bell...I always feel completely relaxed. The pool is necessary at high season to keep cool and has been wonderful for the children. The views from the garden are beautiful and at night you can lie back on the sun beds, look at the stars...and wish for another beautiful day tomorrow!”
