House in Bagnols en Foret, between Frejus and Fayence, Var, Cote d'Azur, France - Relaxing, Full Of Caracter, Rural Setting 2km From Village, Near Beach & Lake, 1h To Nice Airport

La Bergerie is situated within 5,000 sq/m of private grounds. Our family house is full of character with an open fireplace and old terracotta tiles.

Suitable for families and small groups all year round.

Downstairs consists of an entrance hall, kitchen/dining room, hall and office area, sitting room and a cloakroom. The first floor has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.

Kitchen: A few steps from the entrance hall lead you down to the large fully equipped kitchen and dining room with terracotta floors. The cherry wood dining table seats 8 to 10 comfortably. Two sets of French doors lead to the outside dining area which seats up to 10 also.

Sitting Room: The sitting room is located off the central hall. With its welcoming open fireplace and old wood beams, it is a cosy place to relax in the winter. During the summer, it stays cool (thanks to its walls which are almost a metre thick) and is perfect for those looking to escape the summer heat.

The room is comfortably furnished with some antique furniture, including a traditional large "armoire" cupboard, which houses the toys, games, books, CDs etc. There are 2 sofas, chairs and side tables. You will find the television, DVD player and hi-fi in here. French doors lead out to a large covered terrace.

Covered terrace: French doors lead out from the Sitting Room to a peaceful, large covered terrace. This is a great area to relax in if you want some shade. Also a good spot to enjoy an evening playing cards, games or just reading.

Hall/Office area: The entrance hall also leads to the central hall with an office area. The desk, which is located just under a window looking out to the rear gardens, is a suitable place to sit for those who need to work whilst away. The telephone and broadband are available for your use.

The First Floor: This is accessed via a staircase, which leads from the central hall. It consists of 4 double bedrooms (one twin & three kings), 2 bathrooms and 1 separate WC.
The twin room, 1 double room and a bathroom containing a shower, separate bath, w/c, sink and ample storage are situated at one end of the 1st floor. Two double rooms are at the other end with a bathroom and separate WC. The 3 double rooms have king size beds. Two travel cots are available upon request and can fit in any of the bedrooms.

Gardens and Pool: The swimming pool area is located slightly away from the house and is accessed via about 10 steps. The pool measures 10x5 metres and has Roman steps for easy access. An alarm has been fitted to the pool to comply with current French regulations.

The pool house has a shower and WC as well as a summer kitchen area with BBQ, sink and fridge. Sun loungers, parasols and pool towels are supplied for your comfort.

The garden is all fenced, so little explorers are safe to roam around. Electric gates give you access to the grounds and there is enough space to park at least 4 cars.

The garden is well stocked with local trees, plants and fauna including oak, olive and pine trees.

General: Bath towels and bed linen are supplied. The beds are made up for your arrival and the house is cleaned once a week.
Central heating is available during the cooler months.
Children are welcome – it is a family house for you to rent. The elderly or infirm must be aware that due to the age of the house, there are a few steps and different levels within the house as well as the gardens. Wheelchair access is not possible. Unfortunately we cannot accommodate pets.
The house is fitted with an intruder alarm, a safe and smoke detectors.

I love France! Particularly the South. I enjoy the culture, food, weather and the pace of life. I was fortunate enough to have spent my teenage years in the "Gard" area and really enjoyed growing up there. I now live in England with my family and try to escape to France as often as possible.

Why Alice Amissah chose Esterel - Fayence

I dreamt of finding an old stone house in this area but didn't think it possible at the time and so was very lucky when I found La Bergerie. I fell in love with the house instantly and after looking at about 70 properties, knew the search was over. I love the old stone walls: their colour, thickness, texture. I love the location, the light, the colours. I slow down when I am at the house and like to slow down as much as possible.

For me, the Var area has something for everyone.

It is a stunning wooded area (the second most wooded area in France), dotted with hilltop villages, lakes & amazing vineyards. Great for walks and a whole load of outdoor activities.

Then, it has a a beautiful coast line with a mix of both rugged and sandy beaches.

I love the fact that one can enjoy the beaches, culture, museums, shopping and high life the area has to offer and then step back in time in the small villages and countryside. It ticks all the boxes and suits all ages. Plus it is easy to get to with Nice & Toulon airports under an hour away.

What makes this house unique

I fell in love with the house the moment I set eyes on it. The setting, the old stone, the character...these are just some of the great aspects that make La Bergerie such a special place. Time can almost stop whilst there...

The quiet and idyllic location enables a relaxing holiday but with the option to enjoy easy access to beaches, towns, restaurants, sports activities, Golf, Spas, shopping and a long list of things to do and places to visit.

When I built the swimming pool, my goal was to create an area that would have all the facilities needed so that you could relax without having to keep returning to the house.

Having a House Manager to meet & greet and be a main point of contact was essential for me as I am unable to be on site myself and welcome you to my home personaly.

This lovely charming house was set in large tranquil grounds with a wonderful pool. It's great for sitting around with family and friends and just relaxing. It spacious rooms, pleanty of areas to get the sun or shaded and a lovely pool with great pool house, toilet and Fridge. Also well stocked with things you need for a relaxed holiday, all towels & linen provided and changed every week. we were very satisfied with the level of service and cleanliness. We would recommend the house t others. Thank you!

It was Heaven

Oh! I wish we were still there!

This very attractively renovated farmhouse was great for our family holiday this summer. The location between coast and hilltop villages was perfect for us. For the more energetic in our group, much fun and games were had in the pool and the spacious gardens, whilst those seeking a little quiet time were well catered for the quiet areas and covered terrace.

The house was spacious with comfortable beds large inside and outside dining tables for long relaxed meals. The kitchen was very well stocked with cutlery, plates etc. and the BBQ was used a lot.

The owners were very helpful prior to our arrival and the house was everything we expected it to be. I would definitely recommend this house.

Tranquil Oasis

La Bergerie is one of the nicest properties we have rented. It is a lovely old farmhouse in the hills behind the Mediterranean but with easy access to Nice, Frejus and St Tropez as well as all the picturesque hill villages of Provence. It has a fabulous pool and lovely outside areas for barbeques and relaxing. It has good sized grounds and is very suitable for children. Inside the house is well equipped, clean and comfortable. There are excellent instructions and information on local attractions and places to eat and we were made most welcome on our check-in - and also much appreciated the bottle of wine in the fridge! We were a group of 4 couples and we had a really relaxing, fun time. There are some good little markets nearby and the Boules court in Bagnols must have the best views in all of France! Whether you are a family or a group of adults I can't recommend it highly enough

Peaceful, spacious and well laid out

The layout is ideal for 2 families because each family could have one half of upstairs each. The pool and pool area is amazing and ideal for small children because of the grassy surround that they can play on and because of the Roman steps leading into the pool. The fact that the house is only a 25 minute drive from a lovely beach (the one running west of Frejus) whilst at the same time offering a more rural, mountain location is a big plus too. Also, the fact that it is only an hour's drive from Nice airport. Having all the toys & books in was a bonus too!

There are some wonderful restaurants in the area with such choice from a small cafe to an amazing Michelin Star culinary experience and is generally the case in France, children are welcome.

We had lots of fun at the nearby lac St.Cassien which has some inflatables, pedalos, lovely views and swimming.

Great walking routes in the surrounding forests and valleys.

We were very satisfied with the service we received from the first point of contact to after check out. The Location, House Managers, cleanliness of house and linen, and the property were also all extremely satisfactory.

Stay tax €1 per night, per person. This amount will be due to the owner upon arrival. Does not apply to children under 18 years.

Booking Notes:
A deposit of 25% is required to confirm the booking. The balance (75%) is required 10 weeks before arrival.
A holding deposit of 800 euros, payable at the same time as the rental balance, is required to cover any breakages, loss of keys of damage.

Changeover Day:
Changeover day is usually on Saturday. Please ask for alternative days.
Our House Manager will meet you at the house at a pre-arranged check-in time (normally 5pm) and will also meet you on the morning of your check-out.

An extra 200 euros per week will be charged when heating is required. Normally required between November and April approximately.

Notes on accommodation: Double beds measure 160cm x 200cm. Single beds measure 90cm x 190cm. Outside: The house is set within over 5000sqm of land and has an automatic gate to gain acces. At the top of the drive is space to park at least 3 cars (one of which under a covered carport. The grounds are fully fenced off. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: The house is fully prepared for your arrival and all beds are made up. A weekly clean is done thereafter along with a full change of clean bed and bath linen. Pool towels are included. Extra midweek cleaning can be arranged and will be payable locally. The House Manager can cook for you upon request. Other: Spacious "Entrance Hall" with window, large coat rack, chest of drawers and cosy chair. Very handy downstairs w/c located off Entrance hall. "Office area" with desk and peaceful views over rear garden.This room doubles as a play area too.
