Charming Thatched Cottage with Enclosed Garden on the Normandy Coast

Overview

Property

Updated: 12-Oct-2016
Cottage in Pennedepie, Nr. Honfleur, Normandy - 600m from Deserted Sandy Beach Between Honfleur and Trouville/Deauville

This delightful chaumiere was originally where the apples were squashed in an enormous circular horse drawn press to produce the precious juices for the fabrication of cider and Calvados. Today, it has been transformed into a comfortable cottage. There is a main dining and kitchen area through which at one end is a twin bedroom and bathroom with wc, basin and bath. The other side leads to a relaxing salon with a door opening out onto the enclosed garden with one single bed. Another bathroom with shower, basin and wc and a bedroom with a large double bed lead off the salon. The enclosed garden itself looks out onto a magnificent display of many rare species of plants and flowers through which a stream runs down to the sea. Close to La Forge is a quiet lane which leads down to the beach (about a 10 min walk). Ideal for cricket, kite flying and football.

A Delight

  • 5 of 5

Cottage beautiful externally and very well appointed internally. Owner, Bridget was charming and helpful. Restaurant very close by served good food including oysters. The immediate area of the cottage was very attractive and Honfleur and Deauville very easy to get to

Walk to beech was only 10 mins, Beech is on an estuary with industry the other side - a slight negative. Another slight negative is that the cottage was close to road although it was not that busy.

Overall our stay was excellent. This is in ideal base for exploring this part of France
