A quaint, clean 100% smoke-free property with beautiful ocean views available as a short-term vacation rental to responsible adults looking for a nice place to stay while taking in all that Ketchikan and southeast Alaska has to offer. Explorers Cottage is on our property (separate, not connected), yet you will still have the privacy of having your own place. Enjoy the comforts of your own home away from home.

Located north of town and is 10 minutes from Wal-Mart (easy shopping), close proximity to Clover Pass, Knudson Cove (boat rentals, charters, etc...) and Settlers Cove (hiking, photography, etc..). Also, just a few steps away from your front door is the beach cove perfect for kayaking, bonfires, photography, and seashell collecting.

To make your stay comfortable, the cottage has a pillow-top queen size bed, gas fireplace, heat and cool air unit, and a great kitchen with basic items to get you started. Also, enjoy the seasonal herb greenhouse, rain shower-head/stone shower, laundry room on site (outside basement entry), and the essentials you need to feel right at home.

After perusing all that Ketchikan has to offer, relax on the ocean view deck and unwind at the end of your day. We also provide a selection of movies/dvd's, basic cable, books, and games for your entertainment pleasure. A Bible is available for those who like to start out their day with quiet time with God. Perfect Peacefulness

This was our first trip to Alaska. Since I travel for work and spend a great deal of time in hotels, we wanted a peaceful retreat for our week in Ketchikan. WE FOUND IT! The Explorer's Cottage is a quaint and stunning home away from home. We truly relaxed and felt so comfortable during our stay. Scott and Amanda have obviously spent a great deal of time considering the possible needs of the guests. The area is quiet and within a reasonable driving distance to a store for quick pick-up items. We were able to come and go without any difficulty. We walked the beach in front during low tide and took the kayaks out for a little adventure. The excellent quality washer and dryer were nice since we went fishing and needed to clean our clothes afterward. I would highly recommend this property to any adult couple looking for a private get-away.

We left hotels for vacation rentals so we could have a kitchen and laundry on site. We have used vrbo.com ourselves and always had a great experience. We decided to offer our "guest home" to vacationers so others could enjoy this wonderful property too!

Why they chose this property

We strive to provide a very clean, comfortable place for our guest to stay while here in Ketchikan. We have stayed in vacation rentals for years and know what guest are looking for in a property. While we have had great experiences while traveling, plenty of rooms were not clean, nor comfortable. And frankly, sometimes the view at the hotel was looking at the outdoor heating and a/c unit or the wall to other buildings. Not here, ocean views deluxe! We want travelers to come and enjoy Ketchikan, just as we do.

What makes this property unique

Amazing ocean view, small seasonal greenhouse, and stone shower with waterfall showerhead make this a comfortable place to stay. Not to mention the close proximity to a wonderful cove, public beach, and hiking trails. Close to Clover Pass and Knudson Cove for your boat rental and fishing pleasure!
