About the property

Cottage in Seglien, Morbihan - Peaceful Location, Traditional Cottage, Stunning Interior

A one bedroom, lovingly restored Breton cottage ideal as a rural retreat to get away from the stresses of life. The cottage is peaceful and has all the amenities needed to make your stay comfortable. Being on the edge of the village, the centre of Seglien is only a 3 min stroll away, in which fresh bread and groceries can be bought every morning from the epicier and croissant and other patisseries can be ordered. Seglien itself offers walks around the village exploring the beautiful “Vallee de la Scorff" and the rolling countryside. The location of Seglien is ideal for day trips out to the south, north and west Brittany. Many of our guests love to explore Brittany and there are many recommendations of favourite places to visit in the cottage. With booking our cottage, you should expect absolute peace and quiet. The cottage boasts a private garden with outdoor seating area, BBQ and lounge chairs. The kitchen/diner/lounge is furnished with comfortable and quality furnishings. A spiral staircase takes you to a spacious bedroom with a double bed. The en-suite bathroom has a power shower, sink and toilet. Again, all furnishings are of high quality and comfortable. Each cottage is equipped with woodburner, washing machine, fridge, freezer, dish washer and DVD player. We provide each cottage with a basket of wood, so that you can try out the stove in case the evenings turn a little chilly.

About Damian Gray

We are an English / Australian couple with two very active boys. We have just finished a 4 year contract working in Shanghai, China after having lived in Mumbai in India and Qatar before that. Our next family adventure takes us back to the Middle East. We usually spend our holiday in our holiday home in France, and love it!

Damian Gray purchased this cottage in 2006

Why Damian Gray chose Séglien

We love the area of Seglien. The village itself is very quiet and peaceful. Being in central Brittany we find it is ideal for day visits to the coast. On the other hand, it is really nice to while away the afternoon walking around the village. Lac Geurdelan is a great place where we enjoy sitting in the sun and swimming in the lake. There is also a very enjoyable lakeside walk through the woods surrounding the Lake. From the village, there are a number of walks beside the river scorff. As we have travelled around the world we have stayed in some lovely properties and some that left a lot to be desired. In our renovation, we have wanted to give our guests a feeling of space, rather than staying in a small enclosed space - we are delighted with the results of our renovation.

What makes this cottage unique

We bought the house on the edge of the village so that we didn't have to drive in the morning to get fresh bread and croissants. These are available in the village. the peace and quiet in the village is fantastic only the occasional tractor going by on its way to the fields.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We loved Seglien. The local people were very friendly, we loved the creperie too, so child friendly. We loved Pontivy, especially the walks along the river and the cafe culture, some lovely cafes, went to so many! Montcontour was stunning, amazing medieval village, as was Josselin - wanted to go back again but not time. Chateau Scusscino was fab and walked to beach from there, went inside too and well worth a visit, the girls loved to explore and nice creperie next door. Visited Port Crouesty, very nice walk along harbour, great Italian ice cream shop (cant miss it!), Had the most amazing Goan meal in Gueneme sur Scorff (must try onion bahjis). Also went to Loudeac and Ploermel - pleasant towns but didn't find exciting. St.Aignan, Clegerec and Mur de Bretagne were pretty. Great holiday, would definately go back.

“Perfect for a qiuet get-away!”

Lovely cottage, equipped with anything you'd need. The garden is spacious, has a BBQ and great space to sit out and enjoy the summer. The surroundings are peaceful and quiet. An hour drive away from the coast (either way), great to explore Brittany!

Unfortunately the weather wasn't good, so it spoiled our trip,, nice area Seglian nice little village, not much there, but a very nice bakers, where we bought some nice bread and cakes. The cottage could do with some up to date DVDs.

Country cottage

  • 4 of 5

Peaceful countryside setting. Cottage has lots of character and has good facilities. Excellent location to explore area.We enjoyed the singing of the birds and the dark nights to observe the stars.

The cottage requires WiFi, TV point, found bed little to firm and maybe an update to more comfortable lounge seating (these are personal preferences though). Would recommend as holiday stay.

Singing in the rain!!!

A very quiet but well presented gite. Despite the poor weather it was a delightful stay.

The gite was well stocked, clean as described.

Unfortunately the shops, bars and restaurants around the village of Seglien have closed.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the gite

C'est la deuxième fois que nous réservons le "CROQUIGNOLET"

Toujours à la même période fin décembre.

Magique, quel calme!!!

Très reposant

Quelle délicate attention du propriétaire, une housse de matelas chauffante !

The Must, très appréciable à cette saison!!!

Je conseille fortement cette location à ceux qui veulent trouver le calme, sans être dérangé par les portables car très peu de réseau mais ça fait un bien fou !
