Home from home in Playa Paraiso del Mar Menor, - 2 Mins Stroll to Gently Sloping Sandy Beach on Non-Tidal, Warm Waters of Mar Menor

Lovely 3 beds, 2 bath house benefits from hot and cold air-conditioning, ceiling fans in downstairs beds, English TV, DVD, VCR, fully equipped kitchen with microwave, fridge/freezer and spacious lounge/diner with sofa bed. Double bedroom and twin bedroom downstairs with large wardrobes. Twin bedded en suite bedroom up the stairs from the back patio with separate entrance from solarium.2 Large patios, front and back with patio furniture, washing machine, line and airer, outside shower - a bonus on those very hot days.Solarium, up stairs from the back patio, with hammock and sun loungers. Views of the Mar Menor and the Salt lakes. Shared gated community pool,for use of Manzana 7 (our block) only.Young children's play area,local shop,free tennis courts and crazy golf 3 mins walk away.Ample parking space.House and area is ideal for families with children of any age, those with elderly parents, or for friends sharing.Great area for the winter sunshine too.

About Sue

Hello. We live on the South coast of England and have 3 grown-up children all now working but who still love to visit the area with their partners whenever they can. We have a variety of hobbies ranging from needlecraft and music to sporting activities - both of the doing and watching varieties. We try to visit about 4 times a year and try to make at least one of these visits all together. We spend a great deal of our time trying to keep the house in tip-top condition for our many visitors to enjoy. Our wonderful Playa Paraiso promenade is a joy to walk, jog or cycle along with its wonderful views over the Mar Menor. The new sports facilities opposite us is a welcome addition to the area.

Why Sue chose Playa Honda

We absolutely adore this area of Spain, there is so much to do and visit - each trip we find new things. Playa Paraiso is close to all that we as a family enjoy: the wonderful Mar Menor - where you can swim or just float in this gentle non-tidal sea - the beaches of the Med - with their golden stretches of sand and bigger waves, explore, snorkel or scuba dive in all the little coves, walk in the Calblanque Regional Park, cycle, play tennis, go for a walk or a run; and of course we love the sunshine. The area is less developed than other parts of Spain but offers much. We often visit in Jan when the sun is still shining but not so hot, so we can spend time making sure our house is in good condition. We have even taken the 4 hour drive to the Sierra Nevadas for an afternoons skiing too!

What makes this house unique

Our house is close to everything you will need for an amazing holiday. It offers a comfortable well equipped place to rest and enjoy yourself, whether you are an active person or just wish to sit and enjoy the sun on one of our 3 patios. Take a stroll to the beach, or go round to the pool, in your swimwear, and return to soak up some more sun. We have masses of DVDs/videos, books and games for your use and we now have English and Spanish TV. Bars, shops, restaurants, children's play area, free tennis courts, football pitch, crazy golf are all within walking distance. Whilst slightly further is a fabulous go cart track (for all abilities) and all the entertainment offered on 'The La Manga Strip'. There are many golf courses around including the world famous La Manga Club (15 mins drive).

'A very high standard of accommodation in a nice quiet area. The villa is clean, tidy, well equipped, spacious and offers the benefits of a separate upstairs room for added privacy. The location provides an excellent base with the Mar Menor at the end of the street, the beautiful La Manga beaches a 3 minute drive away and the entrance to the national park 5 minutes away. The villa provides a lovely terrace for relaxing on. This was a safe accommodation for our 2 year old son. A lovely holiday was had by all. Great value for money and an easy drive from Murcia airport.'

The house was just what we wanted, well equipped. Weather good and all we needed for a holiday within

a few miles. We love the Cablanque national park and beaches, just what we want for a nice day out with with a picnic. So thanks for making it all so easy for us.(April 2011)

Notes on accommodation: This is a no smoking property. House has air-conditioning in living area downstairs and in twin bedroom upstairs. Ceiling fans in downstairs bedrooms and a standing portable fan. House and area are ideal for children and adults of all ages. Baby equipment is available for hire (small cost) from our keyholders. Outside: Our house has 3 outside areas - large front and back patios and solarium - so you can take full advantage of the sun and the outdoor life. Patio chairs, tables, parasols, sun loungers and a barbecue are provided. You may make use of our bats, balls, lilos, inflatable boats, buckets, spades, tennis rackets, flippers and snorkels - all stored in cupboard on back patio. Outside shower on back patio - great to keep you cool on those very hot days and outside tap on front patio ideal to wash those sandy feet! 2 bicycles are provided for your use - large and medium, (please treat with respect and use locks). The gated swimming pool and children's paddling pool is behind our block of houses and is for use by our block only. It is open all the year round. Utility Room: Washing machine and sink are on the back patio with clothes line, airer and outside shower. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Household towels are included-please bring your own beach towels. Bedlinen is provided for the length of your stay. End of stay clean/launder is included. Agents will do a mid-stay launder and clean if required - this is payable by you directly to them.

Worst property ever rented in 15 years

It was obvious on arrival and a huge disappointment that the property was not a “VILLA” as described but a back to back terraced house. To add insult to injury we could have rented a 3 bed townhouse nearby for £200 less than we paid for the so called “Villa” for the same dates.

The 3 patios are described as large. Yes the front patio is large but the back patio is just a small yard with a 3m back wall and there is barely enough space on the upstairs patio to swing a cat. The property is also described as having “fantastic views from the solarium of the salt flats/lakes opposite and of the Mar Menor”. In actual fact the only views from the front patio and the solarium are of the sports centre. Even with the aid of binoculars you cannot see views of the salt flats/lakes or sea. The front of the house is East facing and back West. The small back yard of course has a 3m wall backing onto the neighbour’s back yard. There are no views of the Mar Menor as it is North facing.

The rooms in the property were clean and looked like they had recently been decorated. However, all the furniture was old and tired and in some cases dropping to bits. Drawer handles came off the drawers in both the downstairs bedrooms. The sliding wardrobe door in the downstairs back bedroom came off its runner every time we opened it. The description also states that the downstairs bedrooms have large wardrobes. That is correct, however the back bedroom has a large chest of drawers inside of it and the front bedroom wardrobe has another wardrobe inside of it marked private.

The fully equipped kitchen believe me is not fully equipped. There was no bread knife, speed peeler or even potato peeler and the wooden chopping boards were minging. There was no roasting tin to cook a whole chicken in, there were only flat baking trays which were all rusted including pans and frying pans. This is supposed to be a luxurious spacious villa with all amenities and equipment. Even the coffee maker was a cafetierre for one.

The boiler is very small and housed in the back yard. No more than 2 people can have a hot shower at any given time. The downstairs bath/shower is not suitable for all ages including the elderly, as there is no bathboard or grab rail or even a non-slip shower mat.

Warning to people who suffer from hayfever especially tree pollen - there are laburnum trees directly outside the property and in fact all the way up and down the terrace.

Summer Holidays

We were three adults and two children at the house and we felt really comfortable. There was room enough for all of us and we had all the facilities we needed for our holiday by the sea. The owner was very kind and she answered quickly.

Our Playa Paraiso Mar Menor beach is just 2 mins stroll down our road. The Mar Menor is a paradise for swimmers and all water sports enthusiasts.

The Mediterranean Sea, just the other side of La Manga strip - wonderful beaches with all the surf of the Med.

Cabo de Palos (5 mins) provides several rocky coves and beaches ideal for snorkeling/scuba diving.

The unspoilt Calblanque Regional Park beaches with glorious golden sand on the Med are just 10 mins drive and well worth the visit.


Nearest airport is Murcia - 20 mins drive.

Alicante airport is only 90 minutes drive.


Playa Honda - 5 mins stroll next to Playa Paraiso has several bars/restaurant open all the year round. Also a well stocked, reasonably priced village shop. 2 supermarkets are just 5/10 mins drive away.

The bottom of the La Manga strip is a 20 minute stroll along our beach or 10 minute drive away.

Cartegena and Murcia both large busy Spanish towns are about a 40 min drive away.

There is a fabulous go-cart track less than 5 mins drive with cars/tracks for all ages and abilities.

This region of Spain is situated on the South East coast. The property is in a stunning location close to 2 seas with an exceptional climate (average of 320 days of sunshine each year) encouraging top sports people from all over the world. A breathtaking 'get away from it all' location Playa Paraiso is a paradise for golfing, swimming and all water sports on the beautiful calm waters of the Mar Menor. Within 5/10 mins drive are the unspoilt Mediterranean beaches, the Calblanque National Park (a protected nature reserve) and the world famous La Manga golf, tennis and football complex. The historic cities of Cartegena and Murcia and the picturesque fishing port of Cabo de Palos,(popular for snorkeling/scuba diving) with its excellent fish restaurants overlooking the harbour are all within driving distance. A weekly market is held here. Just 5 mins drive (15 mins beach walk) to the bottom of the very long 'La Manga strip' with all its shops bars and restaurants. The Strip has beaches on both Mar Menor and the Mediterranean Sea.

Bookings made less than 8 weeks before the start date, the total is required plus £50 per week security bond.
Cancellation before full payment period incurs loss of deposit. Cancellation within the 8 week period are at risk of losing full payment.

Changeover Days are flexible. Departure after 11am can be arranged dependent on the following guests arrival time.

Notes on prices:
If booking for less than 1 week (not July/August) a fee of 50 euros is charged for cleaning.
A security deposit of £50 per week is required to secure the booking. This is then held as a breakages/loss of keys bond and is refunded, upon satisfactory inspection of our house, after your stay.
When renting for 2 to 4 person we use only the ground floor (1 double and 1 twin bedroom, 1 bath). Should you wish the whole house you must pay for 6 persons. This is not available in July/Aug.
The Sofa-bed is available to sleep 7th/8th persons.
We generally offer a 20% discount for winter lets over 1 month stay - please ask.
We accept payment by bank transfer in GBP or by international bank transfer in Euros. Can also arrange paypal to either Euro or GBP account.
