Splendid Villa in St Remy de Provence, Bouches du Rhone, France - Peaceful Location Close to the Centre
Detached luxury villa with a huge private swimming pool in a quiet residential area of St-Remy-de-Provence overlooked by Les Alpilles and within easy walking distance to the historic centre and the numerous cafes, bars, restaurants and art galleries. This recently constructed ‘Bastide’ is in traditional Provencal style and materials and is set in its own private garden. St Remy is well known for its links with Van Gogh and is the ideal base for exploring the surrounding countryside and villages of Les Alpilles. Local activities include swimming, tennis, walking, cycling, horse riding, golf, and mountain biking. Nearby attractions include the Camargue, the hill village of Les Baux de Provence and the historic towns of Avignon, Arles and Aix en Provence. Local wine, olive oil, cheese and vegetables are sold at the typical provencal market held every Wednesday. St Remy is a 20 minute drive from the TGV station at Avignon and less than an hour from Nimes and Marseilles airports.

This is the second time we visit this property, and we are impressed by the significant improvements and upgrades that have been made. The new huge terrace in beautiful natural stone as well as significant improvements inside have lifted the standard to a 5+ star accommodation. The pool is of course the main attraction, but we really appreciate how the owners keep the property clean and develop it further. We will certainly recommend it to others and we hope we can return soon for another peaceful Provence holiday, but yet with the possibility to walk to the charming and lively city centre.
This is our third year and the stay has got better on each occasion due to the enhancements made by the owner. The new outside terraces are excellent for relaxing. And of course the pool is perfect.

The house was everything we expected and more. The pool was the best we've had in a rented property. Sparkling clean when we arrived, cleaned on the middle Saturday. The owner's agent was friendly, helpful and efficient. We are hoping to return next year.
A Great Stay
We thoroughly enjoyed our two-week stay at this house. The house, pool and gardens are extremely well maintained and managed and the cleanliness is first class. We would highly recommend this property and certainly intend to make a return visit.
St Remy is just a 20 minute walk away either along the canal or the roads. The town has a huge variety of very good individual shops, restaurants and cafes: a great place to relax and watch the world go by! For something different, try the TGV from Avignon to Marseille. Just 30 minutes then take a bus from the old port to the Notre Dame for impressive views over the City.

“We had spent several years renting a house in St Rémy for our summer holidays and had fallen in love with the area - the wonderfully scenic countryside, the scent of the lavender, pine and rosemary in summer, the medieval hill villages, the many local attractions and places of interest, the wine and the marvelous food and the incredible Alpilles. We loved the area so much that we decided to buy our own home and love to share this marvelous part of the world with our friends and family. Even if the house is less than a kilometer from the center of St Rémy it is in a very quiet and tranquil location; a world away from the hustle and bustle of city life and a wonderful place to unwind!”
Activity and Interests
Beaches within 50 mins drive. St. Maries de la Mer, Salin de Giraud, Cassis, etc.
50 minutes to Nimes and Marseille airport and 20 minutes to the Eurostar in Avignon.
Car is not required as walking distance from town but recommended in that there is much to visit in the area (Baux de Provence etc).
St. Rémy (walking distance - approx 1 km).
Avignon, Arles, the Luberon villages, the Camargue and Cassis are all within 1 hour's drive.
There are loads of wonderful restaurants in the old centre and over a dozen bakeries/patisseries within walking distance. Try a different croissant every day! There is a fantastic cheese shop, fishmongers, several butchers and many more fresh fruit and veg shops. And, of course great local wines available at great local prices. The shops all open early then close at 12.30 opening again at 3.30pm until 7.30pm. This house is ideal for foodies! Stroll in to town to buy up fresh seasonal ingredients before each meal and have long leisurely lunches and dinners. Punctuated by siestas and a dip in your pool. Never need to worry about drinking and driving as everything is on your door step

“We have a wonderful huge swimming pool (14m x 7m) with saline filtration (no chlorine) which makes it very easy to spend a lot of time relaxing on the property and it is of course a perfect place to be for the children. We have recently made a 120sqm terrace with natural stones (travertine) and granite in the driveway and garage.There is a huge range of activities and attractions in the local area: the coast is about an hour away (boat trips to visit Les Calanques between Cassis and Marseille are wonderful), and horse riding, kayaking, cycling, hiking, golf and wine tasting are all local activities which we enjoy. In addition you can just walk from the house up to the marvellous Alpilles - or to the center of St Rémy.”

- Outside: If you enjoy swimming this is definitely the place to be.The private pool is 14x7m with escalier romain and is one of the biggest pools you will ever find among all the properties advertised. The saline filtration provides maximum comfort and you will not be suffering from red eyes and dry skin as you will often experience in other pools. With depths from 0.90m to 1.80m it is also perfect for children. The property for private use is 1200 sq.m. has been professionally landscaped by a "jardinier". Automatic watering system gives life to the green lawn and all the trees and plants. Utility Room: Washing machine. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All linen and towels etc are provided. We will take care of everything. When you arrive the beds are already made, and when you depart we will take care of the cleaning. Every week (for longer rents) the house is cleaned and the linen and towels changed.
