Alternatively the apartment is ideally situated to explore the surrounding areas of Los Alcazares, the Mar Menor and the renowned La Manga Club. Shops, beach bars, cafes, restaurants provide drinks, tapas, meals and entertainment, all within walking distance, as well as the wonderful local weekly markets. Cars and bicycles can be hired locally, together with boundless opportunities for sports and other activities.

Had a lovely two week stay here apt had everything we needed -first week we had family with us including 17 month old equipment was readily provided for him,and the secluded secure roof terrace was a real bonus,lovely pool description of property accurate -first time staying in real Spain in a working vibrant town on a lovely beach.

Holiday Bliss.

Great location, very comfortable, clean and well appointed apartment.

The private roof terrace was great for sun bathing and the swimming pool ideal for cooling off.

The beach is only a ten minute walk away and "The Square" is great for shopping, eating out and handy for the "Mercado" super market for stocking up on food and drink, where there is a vast range of fresh fruit, vegetables and fish, not to mention a huge selection of bread, pastries and the usual supermarket fare.

For eating out there is a broad range to suit all tastes and budgets. Our particular favourite was an Asian restaurant "Run."

The beach is safe and clean and certainly child friendly with no strong currents and gently shelving sea bed.

All in all, a great location and highly recommended.

Special interest holidays:

Many spa resorts are appearing in the area, from the very high end of the market to the basic do it your self treatments along the coastline. The therapeutic high iodine content water in the Mar Menor make the area famous for health cures and healing, there are many Spa resorts appearing to provide anything from luxurious treatments to the very traditional. Many people come from all over Spain to take regular cures in the area, using the natural qualities of the sea here and the famous Mar Menor Mud baths. However the famous mud is readily available and world renowned for its healing properties, its readily available at certain areas on the main beach. They say it’s particularly beneficial for joint problems and anyone suffering from asthma.

Coast/Beach:

A 10 min stroll leads you to the gently sloping waters of the Mar Menor, 1-3 degrees warmer than the Mediterranean, and 7km of beaches, safe for young children. These thermal waters are world famous for their healing properties and wondrous mud. With the many cafes and Tapas Bars dotted along the beach it´s a great place to spend the day soaking up the sun, shining on average 320 days of the year. Cycling is particularly popular and the most convenient way to move around.

Travel:

Los Alcazares is located 10 mins drive from Murcia airport (San Javier) and 50 mins from Alicante airport. Numerous low cost airlines fly into the region from all over the UK and Ireland. Although a car is not essential, it is recommended for exploring the surrounding areas, local cities and places of interest. Airport transfers are available on request. Bicycle hire can be arranged locally.

Distances:

The historic city of Murcia, is only 40 mins by car, and the naval port of Cartegena only 20 mins drive. Both well worth exploring for their shops, architecture and history. A 40 min drive north, takes you to Elches vast shopping complex and a further 10 mins takes you to Alicante. There are many typical Spanish villages in the surrounding area which all have weekly market days and are well worth exploring. The Blackpool of the area Toreveka is also a good fun evening, with a fun fair etc.

Further Details:

There are several supermarkets and banks around 2 mins walking distance. The area is rapidly expanding yet without loosing too much charm. Local restaurants offer a variety of food, from typically Spanish to Asian, Chinese and Indian, together with several English restaurants. The fertile countryside keeps the local markets well stocked with bundles of fresh produce, which take place on Tuesday and Saturdays. The old town is well worth the effort with typically Spanish restaurants and ice cream street providing every flavour of ice cream that you can imagine.

The big roof terrace allows sunbathing from sun up to sun set! Perfect up there for evenings too! The apartment is minutes from the busy plaza where you will find shops, cafes, a wide variety of restaurants. The biggest supermarket in the area, with three other supermarkets within walking distance too. The beach just a little further down the road. Excellent location and walking distant pec to everything!
