Having stayed at Villa Jasmin several times before it was prchased by Wim & Kathleen, we returned this year and was surprised at what they had done to the outside it gave everyone something to do young or old. We love the remote quiet side to the villa it is an excellent place to unwind after sgtressful work. We very rarely venture out only to get supplies as you have everything you want so we tend to have barbecues or fish and salads most nights and just chill on verrandah with wine or upstairs on the large beddroom verandah. We have come to make some great friends both in Bev and Scott and with some of the locals it is a great community. As for things being wrong with the villa I disagree that negatives should be posted as Kathleen asks for feedback after your stay and a response is received and things are done as soon as poss when they are at the villa. We have just been told that they have put a new kingsize bed in the master bedroom, as we did say the old one was a bit bumpy. They have made the upstairs verandah more attractive with a proper table and chairs along with sunbeeds. They have replaced the outside pool bar stools, and added a new washing machine, this all since June. I cannot praise them enough in trying to accommodate their guests and ensuring they have a pleasant stay. We have booked again for this June and will continue doing so as long as we can we even try but not always successful to go again in Sept. So all in all A great Villa, Excellent Contact should it be required with Bev or Scott, Accommodating Owners, what more do you need for an excellent holiday. Nothing I say so 5 Stars all the way. And a big thank you to Wim and Kathleen for continually striving to make the villa even better for their guests.

rust en weg van alle drukte

  • 5 of 5

wonderful holiday!

  • 5 of 5

Thank you for a wonderful stay in your great villa. It really has everything we could wish for.

Peaceful location, big rooms, well maintained house, ample on site activities for our children to enjoy. The swimming pool was a bit on the cold side this time of the year, but the Jacuzzi was big enough for our children to play in for hours.

A perfect house for us and our children.

As you stated in your advert, really away from it all.

Don’t forget to go to restaurant Meson Irene. Great value for a very small price and only a stone’s throw away.

See you next year!

away from it all

  • 4 of 5

having stayed in 6 star hotels and cruised the world, we have experienced luxury many times - these days we like to stay in vlllas and fend for ourselves and this would be my point, if you are booking a villa in a remote location for peace and quiet, then this would be a very good choice. you are met by Bev a very jolly character and you feel that you will never find the villa again but you do. any help we needed and Bev was there or at the end of a phone line. we asked if we could take down the badmington net and put it across the pool for water volley ball - no problem - if you want to go out to eat then maison de irene is excellent value or the hotel restaurant in albox square does the best lasagne we have ever had. there is plenty to keep you entertained at the villa but we would advise that you research how to get to places if you are going on trips as sat nav should only be relied on as back up. booking this villa is because you want peace and quiet and yes the electrics may go off the odd time but the villa and facilities are to a good standard and we would visit again. resorts are a good 1 1/2 hours away - this is a value for money villa but a car is essential

Away from it all, with all you need

  • 4 of 5

Hello Wim

Thanks for letting us stay at your villa, it has all that is needed for a great holiday. On the few occasions we could drag the grandchildren away from the swimming pool, i would turn around & they had jumped into the hot tub. With the villa being a little bit out of the way we worried about the kids enjoying themselves, but with what is on offer in the villa grounds, they found something to do all day.

Thanks for a great time

Only down side, is the weeds need to be looked at to the front of the villa.

Sure to be back in the future

Neglected and in need of some TLC

  • 2 of 5

Scott and Bev kindly met us at the petrol station as planned, and we followed them to the villa. The route to the villa is through an industrial estate and down several dirt tracks, which are not ideal when using a hire car, due to all the large debris on the track. The dirt track roads all have gas pipes laid out on them as far as the eye can see from the villa, which is not really the views we expected. Work on the roads started whilst we were there, pressumably to fit the gas pipes, and the diggers arrived outside the villa on the day we left. On arriving at the villa, our feelings were of disapointment as the villa did not look in the condition it does on the photos. The whole outside area is totally over grown with weeds and run down. The inside of the house needs a good clean. It was obvious that the floors hadnt been cleaned before our arrival as our feet were black from walking on them. The kitchen had a layer of grime on it. The crockery needed washing before we could use it. The cooker doesnt appear to ever have been cleaned. The electric cooker is broken, and the gas cooker is very tempremantal. The outside space was also filthy although admittedly it would be hard to keep clean due to all the dust that flys over from the dirt track when cars pass. The electricty tripped at least three times every day, meaning that the fridge kept going on and off, and one day we couldnt get it back on. Brian was very swift to drive round and fix it for us though. The Hot tub and kettle randomly truned themselves on and off, which would also suggest there is something wrong with the electrics. The website says it is a child friendly villa, but one gate does not work and one gate has broken off, meaning we had to block our child in with a chair to stop her escaping. Also the baby gate is broken. It's such a shame, as the villa could be absolutely amazing with just a bit of care and maintenance. but it has just been neglected. Having said all this, we still had a nice holiday, as the weather was lovely, and the swimming pool was very well maintained and clean. The villa is priced very reasonably, but we would still expect it to be clean at this price. We left the house in a more clean state than when we arrived as we had to clean the floors and crockery etc. Also, don't expect any nice authentic restararnts nearby. The area is very english, and Albox is only good for visiting the supermarket.

Owner's Response: We are very disapointed to only get a 2 star feedback, as we are used to much more positive feedbacks. Most comments are not related to the villa, but to temporal construction works on the road and to the Spanish way of living. The villa is in a rural area, as stated in the advertisement. Most people consider it a bonus not being stacked Benidorm style. More than 50% of Spanish local roads are dirt tracks, so this is really common. Once outside the city center asfalt stops except for some larger he roads between towns and villages. The industrial estate mentioned is 3 km away and has 1 petrol station and 1 working marble business. The road through it is a shortcut to Albox known to the locals. Meson de Irene is a Spanish restaurant only 2 km from the villa and Albox has many tapa's bars and Spanish restaurants serving some 10.000 locals, although you can also find quite some English presence if you want to. The fact is that they always look small from the outside and are easily missed. Toerist attractions such as beaches, tipical towns, seadside towns, water park, carting, golf, treking, horse riding, caving, western movie theme park, Albox weekly market, ... are all within easy reach. We were not informed by local authoroties about the planned roadworks (new pipelines being fitted in the entire area). All bookings are several months in advance. So please don't hold us responsable for these road works and related nuicances such as pipes, debris on the road and dirt covering the villa and outside area and electricity outages. Our local team is there to help with any contingent problems such as a broken baby gate or nuicances such as need for extra cleaning or weeding. We will certainly keep from this review that the villa is very reasonably priced :-)

From the Owner

When we were looking for a house in Spain we paid close attention to finding a real home in a location with a favourable climate. This brought us to the Almeria/Andulusia region and the town of Albox more precisely, as this is a real part of Spain that lives and breathes all year, not a tourist hotspot without any real character.

With all the activities around the house and in the neighborhood there is plenty to do for the whole family at any time of the year. The villa is located a few km outside the town of Albox. This gives us access to authentic restaurants and people and a city with 10.000 inhabitants where live continous through the winter, but still with easy access to beaches, attractions and interesting cities to have a day out. But we also made sure that the house offers a full stay's worth of activities with many indoor and outdoor recreation possibilities.
