Bordering the nature reserve of Parque Natural Da Costa, Vicentina and the cobbled, picturesque fishing village of Burgau, the air con/heated villa offers a perfect location for all ages. 10km east is Lagos, the historic regional capital. With its 17 century church, fort and palm lined promenade Lagos boasts the longest beach on the Algarve (Meia Praia). The vibrant town has excellent shopping and restaurants, marina, bars and nightlife. Dolphin spotting, diving and other excursions are all available. The Monchique Mountains are within easy reach with their cooler climate, traditional villages and famous spa. Burgau has a relaxed atmosphere with excellent bars and restaurants, the beach bar and Anchora being 2 of the finest (booking recommended). A clifftop walk to Luz where extensive watersports are available, takes in breathtaking scenery. A paradise for golfers, we are within 10 mins of 2 fine courses, Parque Da Floresta and Boavista with Penares and 17 others nearby.

About the Owner

My wife and I live in Sheffield, England, I am a self employed gas central heating engineer/plumber.. We have an extended family of 6 sons, 1 daughter and so far 4 grandchildren One on the way. We bought in Burgau because we just love the area, we have friends in the village which we have met over the previous 15+ years holidaying there. I previously lived in Montechoro for 5 years as a scuba instructor and bar worker but much prefer the relaxed unhurried atmosphere of Burgau and hope you will too.

Absolutely stunning!!!

Arrived at the villa for a two week stay with my husband and kids. We had not been to Portugal before and was not sure what to expect. We were not disappointed! The villa itself was beautiful, it was decorated to a high standard and the added bonus of our own private pool which we all enjoyed. The village was lovely and everyone was really friendly. The local bars and restaurants made us feel very welcome. The beach was amazing. We will be definitely be booking to go back again.

We were among the first 4 parties which bought originally off plan direct from the builder with just a drawing to consider what it would look like. The idea of a community on the outskirts of the village really appealed to us as we already holidayed there and love the area. Being a keen golfer the location puts us in easy reach of some fabulous courses, and the village has everything we could want, beach, restaurants and bars, but also genuine people. Also with my family of teenagers and youngsters the lively areas of Luz and Lagos are only a short cab ride away.

Burgau's lifeguarded beach is within 5 mins walking distance down through the picturesque cobbled village. A 20 minute cliff top walk or 5 minute drive will take you to the golden sand beach of Praia da Luz. Lagos' Meia Praia is an impressive 3 mile stretch of golden sand reachable by a 15 minute drive. Alternatively seek out one of the secluded beaches littering the Algarve coast.


Although car hire is not essential it is strongly recommended. The average flight time to Faro airport from the UK is approximately 2h 30m+ with a drive time to Burgau of around 40-50 mins. Lisbon can be reached in approximately 3 hours by car or alternatively Seville would be around a 2 hour 30 mins drive.


Luz is a mere 5 mins drive from the villa with Lagos being reachable in approximately 15 mins. Alvor is another lovely town situated at the far side of Lagos and Portmao is well worth a visit. Cape St Vincent is Europe's most south westerly point with its lighthouse that is visible up to 50 miles away, on your way to which try a visit to Sagres with its major landmark Ponta de Sagres, the fortress of Henry the Navigator.

Further Details:

Silves dates back to the Romans and has the Algarve's finest castle which dominates the old Moorish capital. Breathtaking views can be obtained by a visit to Monchique which is largely untouched by the 20th century where the Portuguese fire water (medronho) is still produced. Around Burgau itself there are numerous activities to try including horse riding, tennis, surfing or cycling. 3 major water parks are within a 30 min drive, Slide and Splash, Big One and Zoomarine with its aquatic shows.

We love the idea of the private pool but also the option of the clubhouse pool. Close proximity to golf courses and other sporting venues. The new grand prix circuit is now up and running. We have friends at the local bars and restaurants and also ones with boats for days out at see dolphin spotting or just going along the coast to other villages instead of driving. I have never been one to stand in queues 6 deep at the bar, but at least if there is a queue in Burgau the people will be smiling.
