Townhouse in Castellammare del Golfo, Sicily - Private 1st Floor Apartment (Access Through Owners house )
The accommodation is truly unique and comprises of a double bedroom with en-suite shower room. But that's not all! Your room opens out on to your own private terrace with the most spectacular panoramic view of the mountains, town, port and beyond. On the terrace there is a fully equipped outdoor (covered) kitchen and dining/sunbathing area where you can simply sit and watch the world go by. Sound idyllic? It is. We are situated in the heart of the old town of Castellammare, within walking distance of shops, bars and restaurants as well as the port and castle. During the summer months there are several bars with sunbathing facilities on Castellammare's long sandy beach. If you prefer the more tranquil option, to the west of town there are plenty of gorgeous coves with crystal clear water - most spectacular of those are in Lo Zingaro, Sicily's first nature reserve. The town is also an ideal location from which to explore the charming cultural treasures of Sicily.

This was our first time visiting Sicily celebrating our 34th wedding anniversary and was not disappointed. The apartment was spotlessly clean and had everything needed for a fantastic holiday. The rooftop terrace was a magical place with picture postcard views and perfect for any celebration. Some of our best evenings were spent cooking simple meals and drinking local wine! Overlooking the beautiful harbour. Leo is the perfect host always ready to help and advise about the best places to visit. A charming gentleman who is attentive but by no means intrusive and made us feel very welcome. We really appreciated the welcome pack on arrival as we arrived late in the evening. The local beach is lovely and safe for swimming which is about 20 minute walk with lovely views. There are plenty of bars and restaurants within walking distance of apartment which are not overly expensive. There is a local shop just round the corner which is inexpensive and open until late. Plenty of places to visit within a one hour radius. Scoppello and Erice are well worth a visit. Would recommend a car but not essential. Hoping to return next year to visit the places we did not get to see. Would definitely recommend this apartment. Thanks again Leo for an amazing holiday. Steve and Yvonne.
Magical place to stay
This is the 2nd time we've stopped here and it was every bit as good as the 1st time. Leo is the perfect host. Nothing is too much trouble for him. On arrival, he had stocked the fridge with a bottle of wine, bottles of water, cooked meats, cheese and fruit. He'd also left us some fresh bread. The apartment itself is spotless. The beds are changed every week and the towels are changed twice a week. The veranda with its outside kitchen, table, lounge chairs and sun loungers is a perfect place to take in the sun and the views are stunning, all across the harbour. In the apartment, Leo provided us with everything we could need. TV, books, hairdryer, hair straighteners, beach towels, beach bag, beach mats, sun brolly and even umbrellas in case it rains. Castellammare is a wonderful magical town and is central to lots of other attractions in the area, Zingara, San Vito Lo Capo, Scopello, Erice and Segesta to name but a few. All that's left to say is thank you Leo for being such a wonderful host and such a good friend. Can't wait until we're back with you.
Wonderful apartment with picture postcard views
This was our first time visiting Sicily and what an impression it left on us. We have to say we don't think we could have stayed anywhere nicer.
The apartments living area and bathroom were spotlessly clean and the apartment contained every little item you could ever need on holiday. From hair grooming devices to essential kit for visiting beach, towels and more.
The large balcony was well furnished with a comfortable patio set, sun-loungers etc. and a wonderful covered well equipped kitchen area. The view from there is magnificent, it really is a picture postcard blue sky scene of the town, harbour and the blue/green sea beyond.
Since the apartment is located in the town there are a lot of inexpensive restaurants, bars and take-aways nearby. Some serving international, Italian, and also lovely local Sicilian dishes/drinks. A few streets away in the opposite direction there is local inexpensive grocery shop which opens late. Handy for any little essentials.
The apartment really is a good base from which to explore the nearby sights. Zingaro park, Segesta, Erice and San Vito de Capo were a few we found were especially worth visiting. The harbour below contains bars, restaurants and kiosks offering organised boat trips around the coast. Or. if you wish you can hire you own boat, which we did, and visit the nearby coves and beaches from the sea. Wonderful experience !
But, last but by no means least, lots of credit to the owner Leo who was a magnificent host. A very pleasant and helpful gentleman who provided plenty of useful information and support regarding any queries we had. Very nice touch when occasionally leaving us little Sicilian pastries/liqueur.
We had a magical 2 weeks !
Thank you, Leo

The only mistake you will make with this apartment is not booking it. It is just everything you could imagine and more. There is a welcome pack on arrival which is great so you can relax straight away after travelling, no need to rush to the shop. Leo the owner collected us so we were in the apartment 25 mins after landing which was great. The apartment is fully equipped from cork screw to hair straightner !! The outside kitchen on the balcony is a real treat and you have the armchairs, couch and sunbeds also. The bed is so comfortable. You really have to push yourself to leave the apartment and balcony because it is so relaxing. It is ideally located just a stroll to the shops, restaurants (food fantastic) and local beach or a 15 min walk to the main beach with beds and restaurants.
Leo the owners attention to detail is fantastic, he is so helpful and friendly. His directions and advise is spot on and we had a great day tour to Palermo from Leo's hand drawn map.
Castellammare is a great little town, the people are very friendly and helpful, there are many restaurants and very reasonably priced. If you are a coeliac this is definitely the town for you with loads of choices and there is a shop selling only gluten free products. Best GF pizza and beer ever !.
I would recommend this to all age groups, it allows you to get what you want out of your holiday.

The perfect place to stay. Amazing views from the terrace, a great space which has the fantastic outside kitchen. We whiled away many a happy hour lounging on the terrace. The apartment has everything you need for a relaxing holiday. Spotlessly clean and great attention to detail. Leo is the perfect host, and he provided us with information regarding trips and places to see, even going out to get brochures for us. Also he brought back some of the local pastries for us to try, absolutely yummy. Our favourite restaurant was the Posidonia, and Vogue bar was great for a more relaxed cafe style lunch, Saten bar serves amazing nibbles with the drinks, almost a meal in itself. These are all at the Marina. We would whole heartedly recommend this property, we had an amazing week and wanted to stay much longer. Thank you Leo for letting us use your apartment and for being a fantastic host. We hope to see you again. xxx Jacqui & Vince Williams, Blunham, Beds
We have used this property before and like the other times it was an excellent place to stay. It is very clean, fresh and well maintained. When you wander out on to the roof terrace there is a fantastic view over the harbour and castle. The roof terrace is a comfortable sunbathing area and houses a well equipped kitchen. The property is close to bars and eating places and there are beaches not far away. The owner, Leo, speaks very good English and can be relied on to offer suggestions for touring the area. He is really a super host, always available for a chat. We do believe that anyone using this house for a holiday will not be disappointed.
Activity and Interests
The main beach of Castellammare del Golfo is only 5/10 mins by car. During the summer months there are numerous beach bars with sunbathing facilities, pedalos, swimming pools etc. A smaller town beach is within an easy 15 mins stroll from Leomar. There are several good restaurants along beach and often during the summer months there are craft & market stalls. There are also several other beaches, offering more tranquillity and the option of scuba diving slightly further afield.
Nearest airport is Palermo, approximately 30 mins by car.
Ryanair offer daily (twice daily in summer) flights direct from Stansted to Palermo. They also offer flights from Dublin, Luton and Birmingham to Trapani during the Summer months which is also approx 30 mins by car to Leomar. Easyjet offer daily flights from Gatwick from April to October. If you are hiring a car from Palermo airport (highly recommended but not essential) then we shall provide directions on how to reach us.
Palermo/Monreale - approx 30/40 mins. Bustling city full of culture & sights with some of the oldest mosaics in Europe and home to the catacombs.
Segesta - approx 20 mins. Magnificent Greek Temple & Ampitheatre. Open air concerts during summer.
Lo Zingaro/Scopello - approx 10 mins. Sicily's first nature reserve. Walkers paradise & excellent opportunities for scuba diving whether you are professional or it's your first time.
Erice - approx 40 mins. Beautiful Medieval town perched on hilltop.
Castellammare del Golfo is a small romantic fishing town away from the main tourist routes. Set in the beautiful gulf of Castellammare, at the foot of a high rugged mountain sloping gently down towards the sea as far as the little peninsula on which there stands a castle, between 2 magnificent beaches. We are situated in the old town only a few minutes walking distance from shops such as fishmongers, bakers, butchers & deli. There are also restaurants and bars within a few minutes walk or you can take a 10 minute stroll down to the historic harbour for further selection of excellent restaurants selling local produce and locally caught fish. We are also within walking distance of banks, post office, boutiques, fantastic fruit and veg market, gelateria (ice-cream bars) and coffee bars. There is an open air arena where there are regular shows and films during the summer months under the stars!
Boats can be hired from the marina or there are boat excursions that leave from the harbour during high season. There are lovely walks around town as well as several churches, a local park with panoramic views & of course the Castle itself.
The town is also an ideal location from which to explore the charming cultural treasures of Sicily and only approx. 30 minutes from Palermo.
The island of Sicily is the largest in the mediterranean and is also Italy's most varied region. There are offshore islands, rugged mountains, rolling wheatfields, endless coastline and, of course, the islands very own volcano!
Sicily's history and architecture should not be missed either. The island was invaded in succession by the Byzantine, Arabs, Normans, French, Spanish and Bourbons before unifying with Italy. Each conquest left it's mark and created a unique culture on the island.
So whether you are looking for a romantic get away, a beach holiday or an historic indulgence then Sicily has it to offer and Leomar provides you with a special place to do it all from.
