House in Fornalutx, Mallorca, Balearic Islands - Good Base to Enjoy the Tramuntana Mountains
The ‘casita’ is distributed over two floors. The entrance hall on the lower level opens into the bathroom and double bedroom. In April 2014, we renovated the bathroom with modern fittings and a walk-in shower. A narrow staircase leads up to a living/dining area with a small kitchen. The main windows upstairs open onto nearby gardens. There is a small outdoor space with room for a small table and 2 chairs in the passageway outside the front door. New for 2014 - a cobbled street to make it even more attractive. The property is ideal for a couple, but a third person could be accommodated by using a double sofabed upstairs. The property is accessible from the top of the central village car park with just a short walk along a pathway (mainly flat, but with one incline at the end), then 16 steps down and 26 steps up. Alternatively, it can be reached from the square on foot only (144 steps up ancient cobbles!). There are several good restaurants in the village which boast fabulous views of the mountains. Bars and cafes also serve great ‘tapas’ throughout the day. There are shops to cover holiday essentials.

Activity and Interests
The area boasts a beautiful coastline, offering walkers and bikers endless opportunities. Walking routes are well marked and if required there are opportunities for joining walking groups - sometimes combined with boat trips. Bike hire is available in Sóller.
Deia and Valdemossa are about 30 minutes away by car; Pollensa about an hour. The Port de Sóller has two pretty beaches with good facilities. There is a public swimming pool just outside Sóller.
Palma airport is about 40 minutes away by car. Car hire is recommended but it is possible to have happy, relaxing times without. There are several car parks in Fornalutx - but please remember there is no car access to the property itself.
The two beaches at Port de Sóller are just a 10 minute drive away. Both the Port and the town of Sóller offer many fabulous restaurants and bars.
Fornalutx has been voted the prettiest village in Spain on several occasions. Situated in a valley of the Sierra Tramuntana mountains, it is surrounded by orange, lemon and olive groves set on Moorish stone terraces. There are several restaurants and bars, a supermarket, two banks, gift shops, a bakery and chemist. It is the perfect location for relaxing, walking and painting.
The bustling town of Sóller with its famous antique tram offers a wider range of shops and restaurants. There is also the famous mountain train taking visitors through the mountains back to Palma.

We are generally able to be flexible over start days. Please ask. Access to house after 3pm on the day of arrival and check-out by 10am, but if no one is in the property either immediately before or after you visit, we can be flexible over these timings.
