Apartment in El Cotillo, Fuerteventura - Huge Terraces Provide Wonderful Views and All Day Sunshine

Located In El Cotillo, a small rustic fishing village, known for its beautiful beaches, El Carmen is a beautifully decorated and furnished 2 bedroom and 2 bathroom duplex apartment which comfortably sleeps 5 people. Stunning sea and mountain views and all day sunshine, which can be enjoyed on either of the 2 large and private terraces. The apartment comprises of a huge and secure lower terrace, which provides a perfect space for barbecuing, outdoor dining and sunbathing. The large and airy open plan living space has a wonderful view overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, a fully fitted kitchen, a dining area and large leather sofas. A hallway leads to bedroom and bathroom. The master bedroom with its en suite bathroom and the upper terrace are located on the second floor. This terrace is particularly ideal for private sunbathing. The apartment provides a perfect holiday for those who enjoy the comforts of modern living in a stunning, get away from it all location.

This was our first visit to the Canary Islands and we was not disappointed with El Cotillo and our apartment. The apartment was spacious and clean. Both sun terraces are roomy and had fantastic views of the surrounding area. El Cotillo is very much a chill out location with a short walk to some wonderful lagoons. There's a good selection of bars and restaurants.

We had excelent communication with the owner, Sheena which made our booking uncomplicated. When we return to El Cotillo we will not hesitate to book again at this apartment.

I first visited Fuerteventura with my family in 2002. During the holiday we travelled around the island and discovered El Cotillo, which felt like paradise. We then started to holiday in El Cotillo and fell in love with the village and its beaches. We had never been a family who returned to the same place for holidays, but when it came to El Cotillo we couldn’t help ourselves!

Activity and Interests


El Cotillo is known for its fantastic beaches and El Carmen is a 5-10 mins walk from the nearest beach, Playa del Castillo, which is a huge wild beach, fantastic for surfing in the winter and kite surfing in the summer and year round body boarding. Playa de los Logos is a 10-15 mins walk from the apartment and is composed of wonderful secluded white sand inlets and clear blue lagoons, perfect for safe swimming, rock pooling and fishing.


Fly to Fuerteventura - El Cotillo is just 40 mins away. Car hire is inexpensive, but not essential as airport transfers can be arranged and there are plenty of taxis and a good bus service on the island.

Fuerteventura has a 12 month holiday season due to its subtropical climate (temperatures usually range from 18-26C) and has very little rain. The sun shines for an average of 2800 hours a year, which averages out as 8 hours a day. El Cotillo's main attractions are the fantastic beaches. The village has a good selection of restaurants walking distance from the apartment. There are also 2 small supermarkets, a bakery, a bank, a post office, an internet cafe and a couple of tiny gift shops. Corralejo is a much busier and larger town and is a 20 minute drive away. There is a regular and reliable bus service which can be used to access the rest of the island with ease.

El Cotillo is perfect for those who want to relax on its sundrenched beaches, but there are also lots of sporting activities on offer - e.g. surfing, kite surfing, windsurfing, quad biking, cycling and fishing. There are other very accessible activities, such as a local water park, a zoo, a range of museums and camel safaris.

We were on holiday in El Cotillo over New Year in 2007and during our stay we decided to view some properties for sale. We wanted a holiday home that was large, modern and very comfortable and essentially it had to have lots of sunshine and ocean views. El Carmen is certainly the property we wanted – it really has all the comforts of modern living in a stunning location.

The master bedroom contains a very comfortable kingsize bed and the second bedroom contains 2 single beds. The third high quality bed is stored elsewhere in the apartment when not required.

  • Notes on accommodation: The apartment is very suitable for families with children, 2 couples sharing or 1 couple wanting the benefits of such a large, private and well equipped apartment. Cots, highchairs and stairgates can be hired on request and babysitting is available. An English management team provide a very comprehensive service and are on hand to ensure that you enjoy your stay. Outside: To access the apartment there is a secure entrance gate with an intercom and remote access which leads to a stairway and a further secure door. This opens onto an enormous (45 sq.m.) terrace with wonderful sea and mountain views. It is ideal as a further living space - for children playing, outdoor dining and private sunbathing. It is furnished with high quality sunloungers, a large table with 6 very comfortable chairs and a feature barbeque. The master bedroom leads onto a large (25 sq.m.) second terrace. This terrace is furnished with 2 sunloungers and an exquisite mosaic dining table with 4 chairs. This is a lovely place to enjoy the early morning sunshine with a coffee, experiencing the wonderful views and the sound of the sea. This terrace is also ideal for all day sunbathing, being private and sheltered. The apartment complex has a private car park. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Bath towels and bed linen are included. The apartment is cleaned on arrival and every 7 days. Additional cleaning can be arranged. Other: Both bedrooms have ceiling fans, which are perfect for keeping cool and blackout curtains, which are ideal for afternoon naps or avoiding early morning wakening.
