About the Owner
My husband Cosmo and I along with Friends Fiona and John built the two villas in 2005, we are all from Edinburgh.
Cosmo & I have 3 daughters, John also has 3 daughters & Fiona has two sons, all of our grown up children love coming on holiday to the villas.
We built the villas in 2005 with the help of our very good Turkish friend "Suleyman" who found us the plot of land in the most friendly village of Gokova.
Suleyman is from the nearby village of Yerkesik with his lovely wife Kubra & sons Honor & Bekir.
We visit Gokova at least three times a year and have got to know many of the locals very well, including Remzi & his wife Muge who run the local Gokova Park just around the corner from us.
The idyllic beach resort of Akyaka is just a short distance from Gokova, alongside the Azmak ri

Graham Family-Just booked for our 5th time, its like home from home with the experience of living in a 'real' turkish village. We love it and all my family have been as we have had both villa's on more than one occasion sharing with family and friends of all ages. People are so kind and friendly, the villa had everyhting you need and is clean and fresh. Can't wait to get back there next year ??
Hogg Family - I would highly recommend Tamson villas. Very well equipped, decorated and maintained to very high standards. We had a lovely summer family holiday in Gökova with our friends. The swimming pool is a perfect size and kept very clean. Staying in Gökova gives you a true sense of a traditional non touristy Turkish village. The local market is well worth a visit and we made use of the BBQ at the villa to cook local produce. A short bus ride away is Akyaka with beach and some lovely restaurants to choose from. We found the Turkish people very friendly and helpful.

From the Owner
“We bought our plot of land in because it is right in the centre of the lovely rural village of Gokova. We have had the privilege of meeting and making some amazing lifelong friends from this village. Their way of life is so different from ours, and the people here can't do enough for you. They are extremely loyal and very trustworthy. We also have the advantage of being close by to the beautiful beach resort of Akyaka, alongside the idyllic Azmak river hosting their famous fish restaurants. should we fancy some designer shopping or livelier nights out we are only a 20minute car journey to the busier holiday resorts of Marmaris or Icmeler. Dalaman airport is just under an hour from the villas. So all in all we feel this is the perfect location to have chosen for our home in Tur”
Activity and Interests
Akyaka beach is approx 5km, there is a local bus service which takes approx 10/15 mins or 10 mins by car or taxi. The beach is fairly small with lovely soft sand, the water is shallow for a long stretch, so very safe for children, it is constantly being cleaned and there are various water sports available, ie wind surfing, kite surfing, pedalos. There are boat and fishing trips on offer and there are plenty of restaurants to choose from along the front of the esplanade.
Dalaman airport is approximately an hour from the villas, it is a very straight road and the villas are very easy to locate, airport transfers can be arranged. Car hire is an option but not essential, as there is an excellent very cheap bus service in the area. Taxis are available and not too expensive either.
Marmaris is approx 1/2 an hour from Gokova and Icmeler is a further 10 mins from Marmaris, both offer a huge market and have an abundance of shops, so for those of you who want to shop for bags, belts, designer label clothes, these places would be well worth a visit. Marmaris has a beautiful marina with plentiful eating places, and has a couple of water parks. Marmaris also has popular nightlife area for the people who are looking for a livelier night out in Bar Street or Long Beach.
Local shops in Gokova cater for everyday needs but only accept Turkish lira. Fruit and veg is better bought at the Saturday market. There is a post office in Gokova that is open daily and can change your money for you. Akyaka has ATM machines but most of the restaurants will accept English notes and also change money for you at the going rate. Buses and taxis will only accept Turkish Lira but some stalls at the market and clothes shops will accept English notes. One of the Fish restaurants called 'Halil' will come to the villa and pick you up and then take you home after your meal as part of their service, some of the restaurants in Akyaka will also do this.
There are medical centres and chemists in Akyaka and Gokova, and two Hospitals in Marmaris for anything more serious. They all speak very good English. There is another large town in the other direction called Mugla, which has a large University and is more of a working town than a resort. One of the more popular boat trips are to Cleopatra's beach, again well worth a visit. There are also plenty of lovely walks in the surrounding areas. For the more energetic, water sports such as jet skiing, water skiing, parascending, banana rides, these are all on offer at Marmaris and Icmeler. But the popular activity of Kite Surfing is on offer on your doorstep in Akyaka! Courses can be arranged for this and wind surfing. It is well worth taking the Amzak River Boat Trip from the Beach which takes you down the river with Crystal clear fresh water and only last 40mins.

From the Owner
“We are in a small village and have a local bakery on our doorstep along with a few small local shops for everyday needs. Gokova also hosts a large Saturday market abundant with locally home grown produce, people come from all over to visit the market. It is certainly something to see. There is a local bus service just a few hundred yards from the villas in the main square with buses running to Akyaka and the famous university town of Mugla every two hours. So although it may be an advantage to you to hire a car it is not a necessity. Gokova also has one if the most amazing mosques in the Gokova region. The quietness and peacefulness of the location of the villas just enhances your holiday.”
