About the property

Farmhouse near Richelieu, Loire Valley,France - Peaceful, Rural Location in Open Countryside

La Zuzaliere is a 200 year old farmhouse built from local limestone called 'tuffe' with roofs of clay pantiles and slate. Surrounded on all sides by rolling countryside it enjoys lovely views. The main part of the garden is south facing creating a sun trap from breakfast time through to evening. There is also a pretty enclosed courtyard surrounded by old stone barns and a wine press. Richelieu is about 10 minutes drive away and is a small picturesque market town with excellent restaurants, friendly bars and a good supermarket. Chinon is about 30 minutes drive away and is a large medieval town with a partly restored chateau and echo. Further afield are other Loire chateaux including the beautiful Azay-le-Rideau (45 mins) and Usse (of Sleeping Beauty fame). Chambord and Chenonceau make a great day out.

Futuroscope is about 30 minutes drive away just north of historic Poitiers. There are also lots of vineyards to visit and wines to taste - try Chinon and Haut Poitou.

Notes on accommodation: Upstairs has been recently renovated. Downstairs retains its rustic charm with original quarry tiled floors to the lounge and downstairs bedrooms. The kitchen, foyer, downstairs bathroom and WC have ceramic tiled floors. Sorry no pets allowed. Access to upstairs is via a narrow spiral staircase. Small suitcases/ holdalls are advised! Outside: There is a 30' x 14' fenced swimming pool with a constant depth of 4'6" in the south facing rear garden. This is overlooked by a covered patio area ideal for alfresco dining and barbecues. There is plenty of car parking space in the sheltered courtyard. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Bed Linen is included for up to 10. Further linen is available at £10 per person per week. Please bring your own towels. Cot linen not supplied. The property is cleaned before each rental. Other: Foyer/entrance hall with double sofa bed and ceramic tiled floor.

Great location outdoor space and private

We had s great fortnight in August 2016 with 14 of us staying in the house,

Great location outdoor area and very private.

All 14 people 6 adults and 14 children had a great holiday in la Zuzaliere, my favourite part of the house was the outside eating area and swimming pool.

La Zuzaliere had lots of character and had every thing we required to make our holiday comfortable.

Lovely holiday

My family and I (all 17 of us) had a great time at La Zuzaliere. The house and pool were great, a real home from home. We have stayed in many holiday homes over the years and have to say that this one has been the best in terms of amenities, so many pots and pans and sharp kitchen knives, my wife and mother were very impressed!

We explored as recommended and the grandchildren had great fun imagining the history of the farm.

There was plenty of room for us all and we enjoyed the local walks and area very much.

Also, excellent value for money.

Booking Notes:
A non-refundable 25% deposit is required with booking. The balance is payable 8 weeks before arrival. A £250 security deposit is payable with the balance and will be returned within 14 working days of departure subject to leaving the property in reasonable condition.

Changeover Day:
Changeover day is Saturday. The house will be ready for you after 4pm on your day of arrival and you need to vacate by 10am on your day of departure.

Notes on prices:
Prices are for the property per week in UK pounds.
CANCELLATION
Once a booking has been made and confirmed in writing by the Property Owners the Renter is liable for payment of the Rental Charge for the Rental Period. The Renter is advised to arrange his own holiday insurance once the Holiday Booking is made. Cancellation must be notified to the Owners in writing.

Up to 8 weeks no cancellation charge (apart from Booking Deposit)
4 - 8 weeks - 50% of rental rate refunded
