About the property

Everyone who loves food and wine will enjoy the genuine warmth and enthusiastic hospitality from Kevin and Maggie on their Catalan country property, just 12km from Perpignan. The village of Espira de l'Agly is a 25 minute walk away. It has a bar, a restaurant, a pizza van once a week, a Spar supermarket, post office and bakery. There are at least 8 restaurants within an 8km radius of Espira. An ideal base from which to explore the vineyards of the Languedoc Roussillon, as well as the castles and gorges of the Cathar country. The Mediterranean coastline is a mere 30 minute drive away and a little further south you will find, nestled in a bay, the old and picturesque port of Collioure, full of art galleries and colourful Catalan fishing boats and then beyond that across the border is the Costa Brava. Your hosts are always on hand to recommend restaurants, vineyards to visit and other places of interest.

The best yet...

  • 5 of 5

We have just had a very happy and relaxed week at La Petite Maison du Jardin, with Kevin and Maggie providing everything we could possibly need. The little house was very well equipped and the pool and garden were beautiful. Kevin and Maggie are very kind and welcoming and make you feel special. We have stayed in many self catering gites in this area and we can say that this was the best. We will definitely stay there again and hope we will have the opportunity to try Kevin's wonderful apricot jam and ratatouille again.

Lovely property and perfect hosts!

  • 5 of 5

We spent 7 nights in La Petite Maison and had a wonderful time!

The property is clean and well-maintained and set in a beautiful, large garden with a pool in the centre. La Petite Maison also has a lovely terrace and we did a lot of dining outside.

The location of the property is ideal. We had our 16-month-old daughter with us, so we spent a lot of time simply enjoying the property, but we also visited Canet Plage (a stunning beach) which is only 25 minutes away, and some local pretty villages (Castelnou and Thuir), which were about a 15-minute drive. If we'd had longer, we probably would have gone to Carcasonne (1.5 hours away) and crossed the border into Spain.

Maggie and Kevin -- the hosts -- are AMAZING. Straight away we felt like we were with friends. They helped us enormously with getting our bearings and suggestions for activities with our little one. Kevin also met us at the airport. They're truly great people.

We'd recommend taking the breakfast option if you can. It's a feast and everything is fresh and local and scrumptious.

Le Petite Maison

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I spent a week in the petite Maison. We found the accommodation as described. It was very clean and in good condition. Maggie and Kevin the owners were both great hosts, and we felt they were extremely helpful in every way regarding reccommendations to restaurants, beaches and places of interest.

We would definitely reccommend this property to anyone without hesitation.

There are plenty of local restaurants with Perpignan close by, also the beaches at Lacaute and Torreilles are excellent.

In the area are lots of castles and fortified towns to visit , such as , Castelnou, Villefranche and Queribus nearCucugnan.

Owner's Response: There is a choice of places to visit within an hour's drive of our property - with Narbonne & Beziers to the north, Carcassonne and Cathar castles to the west, the Mediterranean coast to the east and you can even go to the Costa Brava and Girona in Spain.
