Surrounded by a high wall with access by imposing electronically-controlled entrance gates, you enjoy a private and secluded position, without being isolated. Exceeded our expectations.

We booked Villa Romantique for a get-together of far flung cousins. The listing is accurate as regards the facilities but the photos don't really convey how spacious the house and grounds are. There are several seating areas both inside and out, giving scope for being all together or in smaller groups . The house was very well presented and on arrival we were given a tour by the charming caretaker. There's good documentation of the appliances and plenty of suggestions of things to do and places to visit. The owner is English and lives in Greater London and so the booking process was easy for someone with limited French. The contract is straightforward and queries were dealt with promptly. Beaucaire itself is a very pleasant town with both local shops and hypermarkets. We made enjoyable excursions to Nimes, Avignon, Arles and Uzes but some days it was just fun to spend time in Villa Romantique and its grounds.

Beautiful Provence and the Camargue

Villa Romantique is just 1 mile (1.5 km) out of the historic medieval town of Beaucaire, with its imposing 12th century ruined castle perched high on a rock overlooking the majestic river Rhône. There is a delightful river marina crammed with colourful boats of all shapes and sizes which is bordered with restaurants and bars - full of character. Alongside the marina the square is shaded by the typical spreading plane trees (platanes) so loved in village and town squares throughout this region.

There is a sliding scale of prices for the time you want to go and for the number in your party. NB. Deduct £100 for each person in your party FEWER than 12 people. For instance, 8 people ( i.e. 4 people fewer than 12) in Summer would pay £400 ( 4 x £100) per week less - therefore £3950 - £400 = £3550 per week in total. 5 people in Summer ( i.e. 7 people fewer than 12) would pay £700 ( 7 x £100) per week less - therefore £3950 - £700 = £3250 per week in total..
30% deposit upon booking. Balance due 2 months before commencement of holiday.
