A beautiful, spacious home in a peaceful, friendly village

  • 5 of 5

Just spent a relaxing, happy week holidaying with young children in this lovely mountain top home.

The house has everything you need, including a private, secluded garden overlooking the mountains. With starry night skies to die for!

Beverley was the perfect host, warm and helpful without being intrusive- inviting us to join the street party that was taking place as we arrived.

The only drawback is you need to have a strong pair of legs to get to and from the house. Medieval mountain top villages weren't designed for lazy legs!

Molini is a quiet but welcoming village with an 'open all hours' style store selling everything you need and a couple of nice, traditional bars. There's no high fashion here but the locals were all lovely and the ice cold swimming lake was perfect on the long, hot days.

Coast/Beach:

The Riviera dei Fiori (coast of flowers) is 35 minutes drive down the mountain road through the valley Argentina. Beaches are sandy with large rocks for sunbathing - both public and private beaches - with lifeguards.

There is an Aqua Park at Ceriale.

Travel:

The two nearest airports are Nice (90 mins drive) and Genoa (2 hours 15 mins). There is a regular train service from both these cities to Arma di Taggia on the coast and a bus service from Arma to Molini. However, to explore and get the best from the area we recommend the use of a car.

Distances:

The house is located in the small medieval part of the village. Walking time to the nearest bar (and shops!) is 3 minutes (downhill!)

Further Details:

It is possible to spend weeks in Molini without ever leaving the village which has three shops, a restaurant, 4 bars, pharmacy, and ATM . There are other excellent restaurants in neighbouring villages including pizzerias in Triora and Verdeggia. Supermarkets are in Arma di Taggia a 30 minute drive.

There is a village swimming pool created out of the local river (cold but convenient) as well as river swimming complete with waterfalls further up the valley. The walking here is excellent for all levels. There is mountain climbing for the truly adventurous as well as mountain biking trails. The village has a tennis court and a gymnasium. During the summer there is a locally run 'ramblers group' which offers guided walking into less well known parts of the mountain path network. You can also book a local (English) guide to lead walks, details from marcodigavano@btinternet.com. Pony trekking is available by booking at ligurien@mulinomartino.de (based in Dolcedo). Whale watching is bookable from Imperia (Porto Maurizio) at www.whalewatch.it.

San Remo and Imperia are stunning yet charming cities with much to see of historical interest and there are often musical concerts in both. both have weekly markets. Every local village has its own 'sagra' (festival). In Molini it is snails, in neighbouring Triora, mushrooms and in Badalucco, beans!
