About the property

Villa in Ortakoy, Nr. SeydiKemer, Fethiye - stunning rural location, perfect for unwinding and exploring

A traditional stone property situated on the outskirts of the village of Ortakoy (near Seydikemer and Fethiye) in beautiful countryside. A fabulous opportunity to taste the real Turkey, away from the hustle of busier tourist resorts but with access if required. Ideal for couples or families with children who want to get away from it all. The brick built BBQ and large private swimming pool encourages you to enjoy the outdoor life. There is lots to do in the surrounding area or just simply relax. The property benefits from thick stone walls, which keep it cool in summer and warm in the colder winter months. It has a shaded terrace and plenty of sunbathing areas, the pool gets sunshine the whole day through. The property is surrounded by fields and stunning mountains. The sunsets are fantastic to watch and the mountains turn red! With little light pollution, the stars at night are incredible and it's possible to sit outside with a drink, watching the stars through the telescope provided.

Please note that Kemer was 'upgraded' to full town status in 2013, and is increasingly called Seydikemer.

About Sarah Luheshi

We are a busy couple who live and work in London. Ortakoy provides us with the perfect get away retreat; the minute we get there we relax and enjoy the fresh air, stunning scenery and the peace and quiet.

Sarah Luheshi purchased this villa in 2009

Why Sarah Luheshi chose

The views are incredible and as the sun crosses over the sky, the scenery changes. The mountains turn pink as the sun sets.

What makes this villa unique

Situated at the head of a valley, the property is not overlooked and offers an insight into the life of rural Turkey.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Summer 2013:

Two weeks was not long enough - we will return purely because it gave us everything we wanted on holiday – style/comfort/peace/Turkish authenticity/uninterrupted views. Aaaah...

We stayed at this fabulous Villa, with 2 small children & can thoroughly recommend it. The property was very well equipped & the pool was excellent & well maintained. We never tired of the glorious views of the mountains... this is rural Turkey at its best.

We cannot praise the Villa enough, with every possible need for the holidaymaker taken care of, even down to things like freezer packs & cool box for the picnic. We have no hesitation in recommending the villa to likeminded visitors, i.e. lovers of traditional Turkish life, food, hospitality and friendliness. We shall return!!

The views of the mountains are breathtaking and the temptation is to do little else other than relax by the pool with a cool drink & a good book. The only down side is that at some stage, you have to go home.

September on Ortakoy

  • 5 of 5

The write up of Mountain View on the OD website is accurate, if anything it does not do it justice, particularly with reference to the locality, which is, quite simply, jaw dropping.

We found the villa to be clean and well equipped. It had everything needed for a short stay, and in our case for a longer stay of one month. We chose to eat in for the majority of the time and bought our provisions locally. We made especially good use of the local markets which sold fantastic fruit and vegetables very cheaply. We ate 3 good meals a day on an average of £10 for the two of us. Although not vegetarians we found that we ate meat less and less as the holiday went on preferring to eat freshly and healthily. Due to the relative remoteness of the villa a car is pretty essential. It means you then have access to the glorious out of the way places which abound in this area. Similarly it is a walkers paradise. We went on daily evening walks around the paths and tracks which abound in the area - always starting and ending at the villa. It is a great way to see the area and marvel at the mountain views which change constantly. You can also decide how far you want to go. We also went further afield and can recommend Oineanda and the Seki Plain, Afkule Monastery (Kayakoy). Both well worth the drive which is an event in itself. Our days were mostly spent around the pool reading and sunbathing, painting, drawing and photographing. Perfect We also did the more touristy things e.g. Tlos, Xanthos, Lettoon, Calis, Fettiye market (Tuesday is best), We ate at Esinti restaurant in Kemer, OK. And at a trout restaurant in Oren which was good value. We can recommend the pancakes in the market at Fettiye, but also suggest making your own using flour straight from the mill in Ortakoy. Delicious!

The weather has been glorious. The majority of the time it has been hot and sunny, but we have also had a couple of storms and a couple of really windy days - apparently typical for September. Perfect for us!

Sarah is a friendly, helpful owner and was always available to assist during our stay. The directions to get here were spot on. The communication before and during our stay we're excellent.

If you are after a get away from it all, rural life in rural Turkey, then Mountain View is perfect - book now! If you are after bright lights, promenades, shops, pubs and clubs, then maybe look elsewhere.

We have had a wonderful time and will always remember our holiday here - highly recommend.

Notes on accommodation: We have sought to make the property a home from home and equipped with all the necessities and, in addition, some extras, e.g. air-conditioning, hair-dryers, a selection of CDs, DVDs, books and board games. Similarly, we have endeavored to make the property welcoming for people of all ages. The pool is a typical Turkish built one and does not have a shallow-end. The property is rural, being on the outskirts of a small village, with Seydikemer being the nearest town, circa 10 km away. There is a Dolmus service which some guests have enjoyed using, but for those who wish to explore the area, car hire is strongly recommended. A detailed information pack is provided in the property, containing information about local sights, along with guide books, maps and a Turkish / English dictionary. A Turkish mobile phone is available on request. Internet is available via a wireless SIM gizmo; suitable for iPads as well as laptops and tablets. Outside: Outside of the property there is a brick built BBQ and a large patio area, which gets the sun throughout the day. There is also a covered terrace with table and bench / chairs for outdoor dining. There is a second table and chairs with a parasol, for those who can't get enough of the sun or to use when the sun sets and the evening cools down. Loungers and parasols are provided. The private swimming pool is approx 45sq.m. During the cooler months the pool is decommissioned - please contact the owners for further information. The property is sited in about half an acre of land and is not over-looked. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: The property is cleaned before arrival and fresh linen and bathroom towels are supplied. It is possible to arrange for supplementary cleaning for an additional payment. Other: Shed; containing a few items for use in the pool, e.g. inflatable balls. There are fruit trees growing in the grounds (white mulberry, peach, lemon, etc). If you're staying whilst they're fruiting please do pick what you wish.
